    I still get goose bumps when I hear " and now a 6' guard from Georgetown Alllleeeennn Iverrrsonnnn".Especially in '01 at the first Union center that season was magic that lit our city on fire! every where you went there were 76ers flags flying on cars and houses, one of only a handful of athletes that embodied the heart and soul of our city!

    There’s a lot of amazing players in the nba today. Guys who are absolute assassins on the court. They pull up from any distance. They can cut through the best defenders as if they were standing still. They average insane numbers and break records
    But… in this day I’ve never seen another player who could match what iverson had. Iverson had the swag, the attitude, the killer instinct. He played with so much emotion and raw talent. Not one player in the league today has an ounce of the soul that iverson played with. This man was one of one.

    I was born in the mid 80's and my top 10 favorite teams to watch:
    1. 90's Chicago Bulls (for MJ, Scottie and Rodman and because _everybody elevated their game when playing for or against the Bulls_)
    2. 90's Houston Rockets (for Hakeem the Dream -- the greatest center ever)
    3. 80's Boston Celtics (for Larry Bird -- the definition of mental toughness)
    4. 80's Los Angeles Lakers (for Magic's triple-doubles and their rivalry w/ the Celtics)
    5. 90's Detroit Pistons (for the energy of Isaiah Thomas and their 'brutal' rivalry with MJ and the Bulls)
    6. 90's Utah Jazz (for the second greatest duo of the 90's, Malone and Stockton)
    7. 90's Indiana Pacers (for the showmanship of Reggie Miller)
    *8. 2000's Philadelphia 76ers (for Allen Iverson -- never saw anyone play with more heart)*
    9. 2000's Phoenix Suns (for Steve Nash -- the smartest and most inventive playmaker since Magic)
    10. 2000's Cleveland Cavaliers (for the physical specimen that is LeBron James)
    Honorable mention: 2000's Boston Celtics (for Rajon Rondo -- my personal favorite since Iverson)
    * I never liked watching the Lakers after the turn of the century. Too many already-established HOFamers, plus I wasn't a big fan of Kobe's style of 'team' play.

      Kopitarr I liked them too... just not enough. I remember them well in the 2002 NBA Finals because I was rooting for them to win. In life, I've never seen a game more rigged than Game 6.

    • @willbeard3912
      @willbeard3912 10 років тому

      Joseph Kerr Yes it was rigged for the big market team to win. The Kings were my favorite team to watch. They were a roster filled with passers. Definition of team ball.

    Hands down the most exciting player to watch. Seeing him drive, get fouled hard, hit the deck then hobble back up and do it again and again and again. If there was a loose ball, he would leap on it with no regard for his own safety...What people say is true, he had amazing heart.

  • @ItsTheMunz

    When you watch a video like this, it accentuates the fact that people who think Iverson isn't a hall of famer don't have a clue about the game of basketball. If you actually take his size into account, how could you not argue this man is one of the greatest players of all time?

    I'm a Sixers fan reluctantly but we have Wilt, The Doctor, and the answer. Out of those three my favorite was AI. He is 4 inches shorter than any other league MVP. He did it by himself. Drake didn't start from the bottom. Allen did.

    I think he was the answer, but no one had the question.

    Whatever you say about what LeBron or KD will become, or what Jordan and Kobe were, Iverson was an assassin, with as much heart and guts and desire as anyone who has ever played the game. Being a scoring machine when you're 6'11" is one thing, Iverson was the smallest guy on the court, and he still outscored everyone in a super-competitive era of the NBA. Anyone who doesn't think he's a first ballot HoF guy is out of their mind - Iverson defined the NBA for nearly a decade.

    Thank you for your basketball memories, Allen Iverson. You are a one-of-kind baller out there, ultimate scoring machine and your explosive attack of your basket, your clutch jumpers, and your determination to win. It is so sad to see you struggle for the last couple of years and wish your life to improve and become memorable to us. It is also sad to see you retire and I wish to see you play more. As a Laker fan, props to your best efforts in your career especially the 2001 Finals.

    the KING without a crown... This guy ALWAYS gives me shivers down my spine... after Michael Jordan, ALLEN IVERSON... Unlike LBJ a self proclaimed king, a traitor to Cleveland and had to have serious firepower to get his crown... AI the smallest player to CARRY a team all the way to the finals...

  • @fenomnx
    @fenomnx 11 років тому +1

    In my opinion the greatest point guard as well as best offensive player ever....some people don't get gifted with good teammates and AI was one of them. Some people like to measure greatness with rings but I don't believe in that bullshit. Allen Iverson with or without a ring had the best offense I have ever seen and I doubt anyone could match it. Truly the definition of a one man team.

  • @theresamahfouz790

    Oh, AI. *sniff* My high school inspiration to play basketball and run track. My favorite player of all time. So underrated. I can't believe it's even a question to some people whether or not he deserves to be a first ballot hall of famer. What an insult to his legacy. He did so much for the game of basketball. Thanks for the incredible tribute. Truly the greatest ever at his size, and I've never seen a tougher, more exciting to watch, more passionate player - and he had such a difficult life but overcame so much. Followed his career since Georgetown. Miss you, AI!
