1. You still gotta sleep 2. Work hard while being thankful for what you have 3. You gotta love what you do, or else you will just feel pain 4. When you fail, stay positive, work harder and believe that you will succeed.
What's my excuse? The fact that I can't handle the ball very well. That WAS my excuse. With dedication and hard work, I am now able to escape most defenders with very few moves. No excuses.
This actually made me cry while watching.. Made me remember the reasons why I am trying my best to improve myself in basketball. Most times, they don't pick me to play with them on the court because I'm slow, can't jump, no shooting touch but I didn't care. I watch them play and when they all leave, I practice on my own hoping the next time they see me in the near future, they will recognize how much my abilities have grown.
This is what I needed, because I have been struggling to get my business off the ground, and had to deal with many rejections, when I shared it with people. I realize that I have to face the fear of being shy, and going to talk to people about the business I'm in, and how it can help the people who I talk to. Also, I'm learning to not take rejection personal, it's part of success, and the story goes that you learn from your mistakes, so you can prepare to be successful.
Im A Greek NCAA basketball player . I have been playin' basketball in since the age of 7 and now im 19 . I am playing for Kentucky now . I was not that good until one day i saw this video and changed my life... From one of the worst players in my old team called ''B.A.C.'' ... I did Hard work and got myself int the NCAA i Watch this video right before practice everyday and keep remembering this speech while im playing. This video totally changed my entire life .
Jay, motivation comes within. Nothing we can say, nothing we can do can motivate you. You play basketball because its a passion. If you love it you will find a way to play, if you don't you will make excuses. Don't come to UA-cam searching for motivation. I didn't play any of my highschool sports and now I am playing for Miami Oxford's regional Campus being looked at for D1 basketball. I had practice yesterday and I thought I had been working hard. They wore me out. I feel sick right now but I
From what I've learned about this thing called the 'life' was the fact that no so many chaps out there gonna encourage you down your road to accomplishing your dream. What makes one happy about his dream is he himself who chases it, he who works hard, he who doesn't stop until he's there. It's always been and always will be a man and his dream. Every time I step on that court I'm the happiest guy on Earth regardless if there's anyone around. Even when I'm old and grey I'll still love the game.
Just made the starting lineup of my school team, choked big time in front of my parents in the first game. Practiced until 12 in the gym, lifted, shot, everything. This video helped me so much, thanks man.
I wasn't very good at basketball when I was young. Now all of a sudden my basketball skills got better. I could shoot the ball properly, backwards layups and left handed layups. And I am still 13 so if I want to get better on what I enjoy playing, I must work hard and train hard to be good as Lin, Drose, or Nash. I must use those years my life to hone my skills and to be able to be one of the best basketball players in the NBA.
Same... I remember when I was 10 I couldn't dribble or shoot... Now I'm 14 can hit 3 pointers in a game and cross my defenders up... It's all about practice and dedication. I wanted to get better because I loved basketball so much
I was slacking off while studying chemistry and stated watching nba videos. I ended off watching this video. Needless to say, I went right back to the books! Thanks man, awesome video!
you're the type of person that really brings a little faith in humanity back to me. Thank you for this video, keep it up. Hard Work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
So many motivational videos talk about sacrificing sleep, or dying in the pursuit of success. I don't think it's worth it. You don't get to enjoy or reach that success when health fails you. Speaking from my own experience, I spent so much time trying to attain my goals and when I finally got it I realised people so often become fixated on their target that they forget to fully appreciate the process. You live your life clamouring so much for success that you have not lived at all.
This is a very well-produced video. I watch it when I am feeling depressed and frustrated doing my work or work out. It can really cheer me up and fortify my resolution when facing difficulities. Thank you very much for making this video. You are really talking about the reality. I hope this video can be widely forwarded out and people who watch the video can take the advantage and get inspired.
Outwork the competition. You see those roster spots you want? outwork the ppl who want it too. Victory goes to the man who isn't willing to surrender so keep working at it!
I watched this video when i was in the 7th grade when I realize I would not be an NBA player because of my weight and height. I weighed 218 pounds and i was 5"3 in the 7th grade. But i kept watching the video and used it as motivation. I listened to what he said and I realized sleep is for people who are broke My family was struggling because of my health problems. So i worked harder than I ever did in my life. Later on that year i was realizing i was losing too much but it help me and my family
It doesn't matter if anyone else in the whole wide world cared about that sports. What really matters is the fact the he himself cares about it. That's the whole point of being motivated to do something, when regardless of what others do or say you just go out there and give your best and put in as much effort as you possibly can. That was my message to that guy. Just move forward no matter what regardless of support and appreciation of the outside. The greatness from within concept, feel me?
You're welcome. Believe in yourself and keep on fighting no matter what. Even if noone else believes in you, you must still believe in yourself and that's something to start with. Eventually you'll see good things starting to happen to you, just don't give up. Just don't. It's not like this or that way of achieving it is universal and works for everyone. Some need a push, some need to split their bigger goals into components, some just need to start believing. You'll figure your one, I'm sure.
probably the best vid i've ever seen! my favourite part is when he says " to be able to sacrifice what you are for what you will become" and lebron walks in perfect timing. This vid doesn't motivate me athletic-wise but academic- and relationship-wise i thank you for your effort
keep practicing. It doesn't matter even if you feel like you're not making progress. Success come after hours and hours of beating the crap out of your self man. I felt the same way before, and that's why i got better.
I wish you all the luck you can probably get in achieving your ultimate goal! You're damn right on using that summer time to improve and to return in your best shape when fall comes. Just don't forget to rest properly and let your body recover in order to prevent any possible injuries which I wish never happen to you :) Train hard, eat well and healthy, rest properly, stay focused and dedicated to your dream and you'll get to where you'd like to be at.
Man this video hit me hard. Im in tears knowing i most likeley wont be able to play for my highschool team this year because i have a grade 3 sprain in my ankle and tryouts are in 2 weeks. Guess my senior Year will be my breakout season, all the work im going to put in man i won't be stopped.
This video gives me shivers when i watch it, i'm pushing my body to the limits now, after 2 years without training bball ... i'm gonna show u how great am!!!
Thank you for this amazing video. It's hard to explain what I'm feeling atm. My friends are laughing at me that I want to be a Basketball player, but now after this speech I will try as hard as I can and I hope that I will reach my goals and then I will to their eyes and I will say: I never quited.
155 and 6'4...skinny- this summer i put up 9hours a day getting better. I stoped chilling with my friends ; to work on my skills and get better. I work out and eat alot but its in my genes to stay skinny. Last year every thing i heard was if i was his height i would be dunking from anywhere or in the nba by now. But these people are naturally tallented unlike me who was born with no talent and had to work hard for where i am today. This video pushes me to get better and this season is showtime!!
You're welcome, mate! It's indeed music to my ears to hear that. I mean, if through this video I succeed in helping out yourself along with many others in terms of motivating and giving that slight extra push towards one's goals and dreams, I'm the happy guy because that would've meant I myself succeeded in reaching my own goal. It's like a win-win situation for both parties and to me that's the beauty of it, that's what drives me.
You know what man, even though I don't play basketball I can appreciate what you want to do for people with this video and i believe you have done that for me after I watched this video. This video for me is a go to video when ever I need some extra motivation.
iDesignatua special thanks to you. Man .. I appreciate you made this video. Before every match ,every training. I look at this video... and it motivate me to much .. thanks. My dream is be in NBA. I doing everything to improve myself. Thank you :)

When I was practising basketball one time. I was exhausted, I played for 4 hours straight. But I decided to take the extra mile and practise longer. its amazing because every word that comes from this video is Me. because id always sacrifices everything just to be great.. imagine.. i came out from school in 9:30 pm and sleep for about 4 hours and wake up for 2am and start playing basketball until world reaches sunrise.. :D
Starting my freshman year of football next year and summers right around the corner, while other kids are playing getting wet (etc.) imma be training in the gym and playing pick up football games. 7 days a week!, until training camp. my goal is the nfl and i aint gonna stop til it happened's! I'm Gonna Watch This Before every game and just listen, listen, and listen!
Great video, I'm glad you made it, motivated me, needs more views. Just think someone or multiple will watch this be motivated and become the greatest ever at their craft, because of you man.
Hard work beats talent any day, and a combination of hard work and talent beats everything else. Tell you this, you don't have to quit school just to practice all day. School is as important as sports. It's like choosing what's more important, your lungs or your heart, ofc you need them all. Same here. You just have to plan your free time in a way that will allow you to practice and still maintain decent grades, even if that means quitting on videogaming, parties, TV, etc, you name it.
I'll put it this way for you. There's nothing wrong about being passionate about something whether it's sports or computers. Do you want to be a basketball player? Make practice one of your top priorities and put effort in it. Do you wanna chase some pro-gaming career? Go ahead, make it one of your top priorities but forget about becoming an athlete: you simply can't do both because our time is limited to 24 hrs/day. Ask yourself, what do YOU want, not what everyone else tells you to.
Dude you have lived, living is chasing what you love be it a girl, goal,or anything else once you meet what you want you have lived. Some people gain happiness through chasing their goal. If you gave up on your goal because of your health,it's because YOU didn't love it or wanted to chase it. But people like me who don't care if we die doing what we love will always be out there trying our hardest even when the odds are against us.
I've said this so many times before and I think I have to say it again so hopefully this my little advice would save you some nerves in the future. You don't have to play for someone just to approve you and/or acknowledge your skills. You have to do it for yourself and no one else. Not only it'll save you some nerves if you don't get invited in to play in a pick up game but you'll also realize that you owe them NOTHING. The only person you owe it to is YOU. So how bad do YOU want it?
I feel for you, mate. But you know, those issues just test our character. During my playing days I've severely rolled my right ankle three times, I've broken my arm and it never stopped me. I just recovered and moved one. I had to call it a career when I've had a knee injury and couldn't run and jump even half as fast and high as before, but I still play at some pick up games. I love the game so much that I'm done playing only when I can't hold the ball in my hands anymore, it's when I'm dead.
good video bro , i have to motivate my self because there a lot of things whose gonne wrong this time and this vid is a good way to find the good way again ( sorry i am french )
The purpose of this video was to give that extra push that so many people need in order to get motivated and succeed. Lots of chaps out there need that extra motivation, how can it be stupid? It's life, it is what it is. It's good for you that you don't need that extra motivation but that doesn't give you any right to boast about it to make others who are less disciplined/motivated than you are feel bad about themselves. Just my opinion.
What is my excuse? H mm I'm 5ft 7in and I'm 17 years old..pretty much a handicap for college basketball for me. I WAS discouraged until I watched this video.
1. You still gotta sleep
2. Work hard while being thankful for what you have
3. You gotta love what you do, or else you will just feel pain
4. When you fail, stay positive, work harder and believe that you will succeed.
+Hong Brian Thank you good person
I remember when I used to replay this video over and over again before I went to bed
"the most important thing is to be able to sacrifice what you are for what you will become" 0:40 - 0:45
Watching this makes me wanna go to the gym and workout. I'll be going first thing in the morning.
What's my excuse? The fact that I can't handle the ball very well. That WAS my excuse. With dedication and hard work, I am now able to escape most defenders with very few moves. No excuses.

Best motivational video out there
Don't listen to others! Do what makes you happy, good luck.

Dream big, work hard and eventually great things surely will happen to you and your life. As the matter of fact, it all comes down to a choice, whether we become successful and make our dreams come true or not.

This changed my life.
When I was practising basketball one time. I was exhausted, I played for 4 hours straight. But I decided to take the extra mile and practise longer. Because of that a coach of a basketball team came up to me and ask if I wanted to join the team. To good to be real right? But this is actually true. Hard work pays off.
You're welcome :)
That's the attitude that everyone needs to succeed, 100% is never enough!

Amazing, especially for someone that plays basketball such as me.

Thank you for this beautiful piece of art :)
lol bro you really killed that speech with "quited" at the end.
omfg...love this vid..i fail a lot at basketball but this makes me wanna keep trying and becoming better..thanks
good video bro , i have to motivate my self because there a lot of things whose gonne wrong this time and this vid is a good way to find the good way again ( sorry i am french )
Just my opinion.
thank you for this video, i watch it every day :) please make another basketball motivational video
Pain is temporary ... victory is forever!!! as well as a loss, keep that in mind
