Attach the lanksy stones to a jig saw and it’ll go by a lot quicker, that actually might be a good idea for a gag video. “How to sharpen your knives with a jigsaw”
Tristan Heath l) you know what I'll just miss side I've been pondering a way to attach some sort of small motorized system to one end of my kme stone holder that I can control the speed of the back and forth motion to speed the process up
You just have to level up your sarcasm Pete, because that's what youtubers like.... yeah, that it. And cursing (fuck yeah!). You need more bro to be like bro. Also more backyard tactical batoning of stuffed animals. Or you could just be yourself.... nahh.
Pete is about to spend $80 on rope. Those of you watching and not helping, please step up. You can even do $1 per month. I just increased my donation. He's giving a ton of his time to this. The more we donate, the more knives he can review and test. Just consider how much you look forward to watching new reviews and tests. (Stepping off soap box.)
Based on my experiences with Maxamet and S110v, diamonds or silicon carbide stones are the way to go. Now I’ve switched to profiling using diamond and refining with SiC on these carbide-rich steels. Very much enjoying your videos! Keep up the good work!
Hi. Got a knife in rex 121 at 70 hrc from Dulo Knives. I do not think it is so very hard to sharpen. It is worse than most, but still, i have no problem getting good clean sharp edge on that knife.
I hope this one doesn't have the over-heated problem on the cutting edge like another one I saw a video on. I think he got it figured out after the first batch. If not after a few sharpening sessions it will come out of it! Can't wait to see the numbers on the rope test...should be insane. Eat your wheaties that day!
Very nice the suspense is killing me I’m super interested in the cruwear since i have a Manix in it. Well brother hope your having a great day talk to you later
so 180 kme kit. 25 wood base. $18.00 for 100grit diamond and $20.00 for the 50g beast so compared to the wicked Edge Edge Pro not all that bad when you consider how much money we all put into our knives I think it's only fair that they deserve a nice sturdy and consistent sharpening system to get the most out of super steels these days. now maybe 10 15 years ago sharpening system such as the kme, worksharp worksharp or Wicked Edge would not have been necessary 10-15 years ago because of the lack of super Steels that we're out on the market most people's had vg10 440c D2 and Case and victornox type of knives.
Are you glad of the Lansky Sharp System, because some people didn't like it because when you sharp a knife the Lansky sharpener moved and they said that is not good for the knife, but i can't believe, explain me more man!
yeah kme 180 for the basic kit and had too get the 100 grit diamond and the beast 50 grit kme stone I know that sounds very aggressive but with the length of the kme stones only being four inchs you really only get to use about three and a half inch of that stone Maybe, so it's not as aggressive as you would think it's hard to explain so having a 300 grit diamond for the Edge Pro gives you more surface area and Kutz much faster than a 50 grit I'll make kme I know it sounds ass-backwards but with such a small Stone you need that 50 grit to cut through those High carbide super steels and too reprofile and set your edges cuz I tried with the I 140 diamond stone was the lowest that the basic kit came with and it took me forever to reset a m390 Edge at 18 degrees on my pm2
Hey bud, I am interested in the Lansky system but on bladeHQ there are many different options. Which would you recommend for sharpening D2, M390, and CPM-110V? That is the main steel types I will be sharpening. I would really appreciate your help.
diamond kit, without a moments hesitation www.bladehq.com/item--Lansky-Deluxe-Diamond--2923 and then pick up a couple individual stones like the sapphire hone and the yellow 1000 hone if you want to mirror your edges.
See I find super high carbide steels like s110 or zdp to suck with the fine or ultra fine stones. They just don’t cut. So I add some pressure and I end up with a chipped out edge that is dull. Then I discovered 10 micron diamond compound. Highly recommended for these ultra high carbide steels.
I’ve done a video on this topic before - despite my edge lust I much prefer actually using the more balanced steels. These stratospheric steels have a lot of drawbacks to accept for their crazy retention.
He Pete, because you do a great job providing us with a lot of information about how knife steels perform why cant you send Wicked Edge an email if you can try their system?! The WE is pretty fast and takes away almost all the variables and makes killer edges! I think it would be a great system for you.
Reinen Ruud honestly thats not a bad idea, I've seen them send some larger channels systems and yours is more deserving than any, and although you don't like accepting freebies from companies, the Wicked Edge or KME would take your videos to a new level.
Maybe if someone else emailed them and said, hey I thought you might like to check out the sharpening and testing this guy is doing?? Maybe he could try your system etc etc
Thank you for this early video. I'm excited! May your testing day, bring you cloudy skies, and a cool breeze! 😀🍺🔪🍀🎆 By the way. How many feet/meters of rope does a guy get, for $80 aud?
I'm glad your getting away from the Work Sharp , but that Lansky has to be killing you , Ever think about getting a better system , like an Edge Pro or something similar that you can still " feel the steel "while sharpening . You'll probably save yourself some pain. I bought a Chinese Edge Pro Clone for $19.00 about 3yrs ago and never looked back , you just have to get the good stones, there about $15.00 apiece . I reprofile all my knives with it , from 8cr13mov to CPM-20CV , no problems .
Ummm, I'm a bit confused about your comment. What's wrong with the Lansky? I agree with you about the diamonds. Gotta have'em to sharpen these super steels. Unless, you enjoy sitting for reeeally long periods of time sharpening old school. It's diamonds and ceramics for me!
49Giants you can do the Patreon thing for one month, then cancel it. I’ve done that before when I’ve just wanted to donate a fixed amount to a creator 😊
This has become my favorite channel.

Damn, Pete! You're getting some really nice knives under your roof here! Can't wait for the testing to begin.
Congrats on hitting 10000 subs man. You deserve it.
Best knife channel 👍
advanced knife bro is better
Cedric & Ada Gear and Outdoors to be fair, he's probably better than all of us.

Just signed up for your Patreon. Never even considered the cost of rope! Keep up the great work.
Aaron cammon thankyou mate, I really appreciate it!
Is there really no way you can buy the rope in bulk? Especially if it's made in AUS.

Rex has arrived!! Can’t wait for the unleashed lol

Looking forward to seeing this one perform.
Wow I can't wait to know the results from that steel! I've hard people have destroyed there ceramic belts trying to resherpen that steel! 😀😮👍
We're in the big leagues now boys. Next please do obsidian.
That ff9 music!
Curious how the lansky diamonds did against the beast of beasts
Very nice the suspense is killing me I’m super interested in the cruwear since i have a Manix in it. Well brother hope your having a great day talk to you later

Excited to check out the test for that one. Any idea on corrosion resistance???
Doesn't lansky manual say give the blade 4-5 strokes? xD
Awesome news.
👍😎👍
A toughness test would be cool on these steels
Are you glad of the Lansky Sharp System, because some people didn't like it because when you sharp a knife the Lansky sharpener

Pete you're going to put me in the poor house great now I'm looking at a Mako after seeing this video damn it man
Why don't you get the lansky super course diamond hone, the grey one?
i have ordered one now, thanks!
yeah kme 180 for the basic kit and had too get the 100 grit diamond and the beast 50 grit kme stone I know that sounds very aggressive but with the length of the kme stones only being four inchs you really only get to use about three and a half inch of that stone Maybe, so it's not as aggressive as you would think it's hard to explain so having a 300 grit diamond for the Edge Pro gives you more surface area and Kutz much faster than a 50 grit I'll make kme I know it sounds ass-backwards but with such a small Stone you need that 50 grit to cut through those High carbide super steels and too reprofile and set your edges cuz I tried with the I 140 diamond stone was the lowest that the basic kit came with and it took me forever to reset a m390 Edge at 18 degrees on my pm2
Hopefully the people who make that rope have identified you as their best customer, and will be giving you a volume discount eventually.
Yeah, when I get a bit of extra cash I'm going to buy one of those new materials shirts.
Hi Pete, how is the GoPro Hero Session for a tabletop review??
All these fancy hi-end steels and your working with a lansky and 3 stones?! Ai yi yi boss....
915 cuts. Calling it now.
Great videos! Where can I buy some fox blades like that?
said it before, say it again! get the rope guys to sponsor you!

Cedric & Ada Gear and Outdoors Thank you for the info!
Hope it will smooth over the pain over the 4V Kephart. BTY, are you going to add 5 additional cut to the official rope test?
Gadget yoyo heheh nah i’ll give it a last touchup before I start
See I find super high carbide steels like s110 or zdp to suck with the fine or ultra fine stones. They just don’t cut. So I add some pressure and I end up with a chipped out edge that is dull.

Damn, I feel old for finding my Solingen made 440C totally adequate!
Lars Buskkraft
440C used to be a premium steel and I dont think anybody really needs something better than M390 like S110V or Maxamet or sth.
I’ve done a video on this topic before - despite my edge lust I much prefer actually using the more balanced steels. These stratospheric steels have a lot of drawbacks to accept for their crazy retention.
We need to get Pete a KME . Dam man I had a lanky but I got the kme it's like night and day
He Pete, because you do a great job providing us with a lot of information about how knife steels perform why cant you send Wicked Edge an email if you can try their system?! By the way. How many feet/meters of rope does a guy get, for $80 aud?
6 packs of 10 meters each, or one big reel of 80m. The reel is never in stock though!
Cedric & Ada Gear and Outdoors 👍🔪🍺

This could have easily been Steel Nerds News ep3
Can we see a tip test ?
little woody it will absolutely break, he specifically mentions you to not do that
It’s a joke. !
too soon
Do you love the knife? Will you keep it or move it on?
nah this is staying. Its a bit of a grail for the steel, from a collector point of view, plus a great user
I would pay so much for a rex121 at 70.5-71hrc manix 2 and pm2 blade.. God I want one of each sooooooo bad
Seeing lansky used on REX 121 😬
Nothing wrong with diamonds tho (after i realized lasky has diamonds too)
Ummm, I'm a bit confused about your comment. What's wrong with the Lansky?
I agree with you about the diamonds. Gotta have'em to sharpen these super steels. Unless, you enjoy sitting for reeeally long periods of time sharpening old school. It's diamonds and ceramics for me!
Mike Uman fixed the comment
Oh, okay. I thought, for a moment there, I was missing something with the Lansky. :)
Honestly I wish I had the money too send you a kme system....
Man that’s my kinda shirt
Why don't you cut closeline? It's much cheaper.
He'd have to redo all of the tests if he started that now
I know you have Patreon, but how can I make a one time $20 donation my friend?
49Giants you can do the Patreon thing for one month, then cancel it. I’ve done that before when I’ve just wanted to donate a fixed amount to a creator 😊
LisaInTheSkyMU cool thanks
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's blade
callusiey gross knife guy fingers lol. it's what the ladies like
Pete. This music. WTF
Great vids if you ever come across sm100 it would be very interesting to see a test a lot of mystery around it and no one ever did a good test of it
