I was thinking at the start of the video, “I really like that they consider that not everyone wants their art to look realistic!” It is so helpful that you show us the main form of water, allowing US to decide for ourselves how we want to do it! :D
I literally just gave up on a piece I was working on because I couldn't figure out how to do the damn water. Guess I have to go give it another shot now, lol.
This is a bit tricky cause water is affected by light too! Like, in a normal daytime setting, the water would be blue reflecting the sky. People and objects in this case would be blue tinted. In a sunset setting, water would be orange or red, so anything underwater would be darker AND be orange tinted. It all depends on the setting and lighting!
my favorite waters are water textures fans make for animal crossing, tbh. fundamentally, simple pixel arts only have so much flexibility. but i think that simplicity allows people to figure out water in a way that looks really nice without their brains forcing them to try and over-render it to realism.
So glad I found this channel. So I think I get it. Draw random triangles and/or circles and then put highlights and shadows around them. Look at references to guide you. Great advice.
Once summer break comes around imma watch every one of your videos and try drawing everything you teach. One lesson a day. That’s my action step to becoming a better artist
I saw a tutorial similar to the jelly bean shape tip that said to draw a bunch of amonguses and duplicate the layer in a darker colour, I didn't know that was actually how you can draw it
Legit saved me. I was wondering how to do this today for an art piece and couldn't find someone who could break down what was actually happening with water, so thanks!
one tip i saw online for drawing water caustic reflections was to draw "loose among us shapes" and it genuinly helps make organic looking reflections lol
Thaaaank you so much for this!! for a while I was struggling to find a pretty good water tutorial and this really gave some advice, especially the small tips and the part of finding a style that fits with your art. I'll definitely be using this!

I've noticed that you draw some sort of direction inside the water with darker tones and reflected light is kinda outside? Like it's making the shape of the water more clear? Just wanted to point that out for some reason Amazing tutorials by the way! They helped me a lot
Yayyy I loved these tips! You did a great job at explaining some things that I just cannot word well lol. Water is so much fun to draw and paint because you can do anything you want with it! Now I wanna go render some wotur - 3 -)
Help me pls This is my first time with madibang and I accidentally press the cross button beside the word color near the brush icon on top and idk how to get it back 😢
wait but shadows are the abscence of light, and water reflects light if the light reaches water, so if the light gets blocked from reaching the water, shouldnt that cause a shadow on TOP of the water??
Tysm for this tutorial🤩! In addition to water, could u make a video teaching how to draw mermaids since it's mermay month challenge pls🙏!Ty in advanced😅💙
number one: use procreate number two: use water tool number three: color select blue number four: *d r a w* (obviously joke tho people need to draw water differently depending on their style and of course u still need the shadows n all)

Would you possibly have any tips on coloring underwater objects or people? Is there a specific way they should be tinted?

Correction, the plural form of among us is not amonguses- it’s amongui :)
(Like octopi, and cacti)
@@CookieCrumbsCalico actually it’s octopods, if you wanna be scientific, but you can actually use either octopuses or octopi, either is correct
@@CookieCrumbsCalico but octopuses is a more preferred plural, as octopi is the Latin version so octupuses is the English version of the plural :)
@@CookieCrumbsCalico amongussy
@@breeze9688 ohhhhh- hm nice… thx for correcting me XD
