    Bandai Star Wars Slave I 1/144 scale mode - full build and review. This is another one of Bandai's excellent Star Wars kits, this time Boba Fett's ship that first appears in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. All of Bandai's model kits are snap together, and the engineering is so precise that you genuinely don't need any glue. Additionally, they are supplied with both waterslide decals and stickers as an alternative for younger or less experienced modellers.

    Looks a great result which is good enough to be used as a film prop. I’ve built the AT-AT but not painted it yet as I’m still trying to decide whether to model it walking or crashed in the snow 🤔. With regards to the hairspray, does wetting down the paint prior to chipping it cause any problems? Or does it just dry naturally?

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Bill. I don't think it causes any harm - the paint just dries naturally. Although if you wet it too much you can cause tide marks.

    Hi so this will be my first model kit, the painting work frightens me, any advice for a newbie? And if you could recommend any kind of starter kit with brushes, paint for this one? Thanks a lot!

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  10 місяців тому +1

      I think this could be great as a starter kit. The fit is excellent. You don't have to paint it as the plastic is coloured, but if you want to then I'd recomnend: a primer coat (e.g. Tamiya grey rattle can). Then I really like Vallejo Model Colour for brush painting. They go down really well over primer and can be thinned (and brushes cleaned) with a bit of water. Good luck and let me know how you get on!

  • @infexusbytez
    @infexusbytez Рік тому +1

    So are you using enamels or acrylics for the chipping technique? I would assume enamels?

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  Рік тому

      Acrylics all the way :) Base layer of acrylics, a protective varnish coat. Hairspray, then acrylics to be chipped back. I'm not sure you can use enamels for chipping as the paint has to be water soluble so the water can get through to the hairspray below and cause it to lift.

    Hello. Will this kit still look good if I just use the decals provided in the kit, no custom paintjob?
    Also is there a stand provided in the kit?
    Do the cannons and wings articulate?

      Hi. Yes, the kit comes with a stand. I can't remember about the articulation I'm afraid, and my model is packed away so I can't check it, sorry.
      I think you can make it look good without the decals, yes.

    Hey bud great job thank you for this video. I just got this kit recently but before i start i just wanted to check a couple of things. As the plastic parts are already coloured did you prime them first or just go straight to paiting them? Also did you paint in acrylic? Sorry im still faily new to the hobby so not that clued up yet. Thank you appreciate your help!

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  2 роки тому

      @@ModelNerd that's great thank you, did you use primer or no need? I was planning on using the hairspray technique but I don't have an airbrush, would it work just using normal brush painting? Cheers again appreciate it!

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  2 роки тому

      I can't remember if I used primer on this or not (I'll say in the video if I did). I'm not sure about brush painting with hairspray chipping but I suspect it might not work because it relies a lot on the thinner airbrushed layers of paint.
