What a great, honest, candid, and genuine review!! This is quite a difference from the reviewers who just visit the yacht, and do not actually use it. Your complaints(?) are well-founded and logical, and certainly valid considering the expense of the boat.

Good video Alan. I bought my 50' boat with zero options so I could instal things that made sense and not need to toss stuff I had just paid for.

Ive watched this episode four times.
You have purchased one of my favorite boats! The first time I viewed this video, I can remember being takin by your strait forward, honest, and the humble way you presented your views. Both good and not so good. This is a trait you have continued in every video I've seen.
A tip of the hat and hello from St.Louis.

Thanks for the walkthrough, Alan. I really appreciate your honesty about pros and cons. I’m sure you’ll work everything out in due time, and enjoy the heck out of that beautiful, new boat of yours! I know you’ll miss her while on the other coast.

Just found you, so glad I did. Thank you for being such a straight shooter. You are so clearly a guy who learned a long time ago to deal with reality and very likely busted your ass for many years to get to where you have gotten. I thank you for taking all of us along on this chapter of your life, I look forward to many more great stories from you and all the other cool Hillbillies who get to ride on that boat!

Thank you for the video. Have you though about a product like Solar Gard for the flybridge windows? It's a clear ceramic UV film for windows. Might be something you'd be interested in. Beautiful boat

I would recommend investigating VKool window Tint or a 3M UV protective film for the Flybridge windows. VKool offers a clear tint for the forward facing windows. Enjoy the new boat !!

The Table Delete in the Salon is the single most brilliant improvement to this boat in my opinion. I would have to ponder over having an oven vs a dishwasher though I have to say that I would probably cook everything on the grill so there is no need for an oven. A good deep skillet with a lid can do whatever you would need an oven for other than cakes and I don't do cakes. So I guess I would go for the dishwasher. Also, the handling of the blinds would probably not be an issue because I would opt for the opposing seat/couch so it should be easy to reach the blind.

The 54 would be a bit more than my wife or I would want I believe, mostly because of the air draft but partially because of lack of recent practice for both of us. While the 44 would be wonderful, I would prefer the versatility of the 36 foiling cruiser. Great to see you getting used to your new boat!

Love the Aquilas, but I think in the case of next to no air-conditioning in the helm, raked windows would be so much better, this is why I love the trawler style super yachts.

  • @affiliateshortcut

I recommend a high quality Carbon Ceramic window film, it can be tinted or not, either way it will reduce the heat transfer on the glass by as much as 95%

Unfortunately an additional vent in the fly might not help all that much since the fly is open to the lower deck. Cold air will simply fall down the step. Very nice yacht sir. I can wait to start watching your channel.

I would have all of the windows ceramic coated. That should help in the rain, especially where the wipers don't get to. Some one already said it but a good quality tint should also help regect some of that heat!

Great walkthru and I bet Aquila takes your critiques to heart as they all seem very valid. My wife thinks your short goatee and the slim and trim physique make you look ten years younger. Course it doesn't matter what MY wife thinks only what YOUR wife thinks. 😄

Man! Great intro video. Talking about "vessel euphoria!" This bout sums it up, my friend. I'm binging and catching up. Thanks for everything. Learning a lot too. A wonderful vessel. Question; what drew you to the Aquila 54 Cat? As opposed to other hulls. Just curious. Thanks again. Blessins...

It's been about a month since you published this video so I assume the issue with your DockMate has been sorted? I assumed aft thrusters would be required, but according to one of their Reps, the Aquila 54 can be configured for lateral docking. I'd really like an update from you on how it was solved???

Sounds like that fuel swapping could be solved with software since the path already exists between tanks (albeit in a round about way). But you should be able to hit a button and have that happen in the background.

What a video! Congrats on the new boat can't wait for more of your sea trials and adventures. One thing wanted to ask about? What's the range and how is the noise of the engine for a long crossing?

    • @thewanderinghillbilly
      @thewanderinghillbilly  2 роки тому +1

Literally, when you are sitting forward, you feel like you're sailing. you can't hear the engines. it's nuts. The range?? Well that depends on fast you wanna go! anywhere from 350 to 1000 miles...thanks for watching!

  • @Injess

Firstly, thanks for a great video as always!
Secondly question… I have a power at scheduled in the BVI but this one will be the first I have rented with a bow thruster on the port side like yours…
if we wanted to crab off the dock to our starboard side by using a burst of nose to starboard bow thrust then use the throttles to counter it by using starboard fore and port aft ?
Then just keep bumping the bow thrust as needed?
Let me know if you try this!

how much diesel does it use at night running AC and anything else? Or does it just go on battery? For the curtains.... just make a longer rope pull and attach it to the side of the wall forward so you can easily reach it without crawling over anything.
