Tinting the Windshield makes it all better.
If you haven’t found already - Dometic makes a sliding blind/shade that fits the exact shape of that rear hatch. We have them on our Bali 48 and they are terrific and look great.
Each upgrade/update making the the vessel more your own/ meeting your needs
It's like a wife....the longer you're married...the more you know about her! Thanks for watching!
I hope Aquila is watching your videos so that they can learn from your experience. Insulating cold-water pipes (to prevent condensation), and tinting the flybridge windows and the crew quarters hatch are great improvements/options. It's refreshing to see the good and the bad - not just the features that boat review channels show. Thank you for sharing your experience Alan.
Thank you for watching!!
Horn & speakers Good Idea
Regarding the crew quarter companion way door tint, what about a curtain arrangement instead of darker tint? That way the occupant can choose privacy versus letting light into the space during the daylight.
We recently added Dockmate to our Aquila 48..The installer said the joystick is progressive, so I had him program 3 engine speeds into it. Now, depending how hard I push the joystick, I can get 600, 750,or 1,000 RPM. Being able to give it more power when needed is great! It makes all the difference when you are fighting wind or current.
Looking forward to the Merchandise 😂
Allen, appreciate the updates on your Acquila. Yes, your comments have not always been rainbows and ponies but that is what makes your videos worth watching, honesty. Anyone who owns a boat knows, there is no such thing as the perfect boat, even if its new. I am sure the Acquila folks are interested in your feedback to make their boats even better. We are chartering in the BVIs this May/June with two other couples who have limited sailing experience. The boat, a Fountaine Pajot Aura 51, is a new boat design and was just delivered last week. I have already started preparing the crew that even though the boat will only be a few months old when we charter, things will go wrong. It's a boat! As for your tables, the Aura was to be delivered in June, so the supply chain issues are very real. Looking forward to seeing your mother enjoy herself with her son. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Love this Boat💞💞
This is rapidly becoming my favorite channel!!
have you thought about reading books for cars, only issue your voice is so relaxing I might fall asleep driving. Thanks for the boat update it looks awesome and really happy you are enjoying it. May all the winds be fair for you!!!!
Just like a new home , always some improvements and upgrades to be done
Enjoyed the video, appreciate your comments on the Acquila. Glad you are mostly satisfied with it.
Can you plz make a video about the catamaran tender?
Pretty sure they make a Curtain for that crew hatch, you'll still see through a darker tint and get less light during the day.😁
Looks like an amazing boat
Love the constructive criticism. Answering questions without being asked. Im considering a Aquila 36 fishing edition and your videos really help if I make the buy decision on an Aquila. Safe sailing.
Amazing to see how you've done these different upgrades on your own to make your boat Supreme.:)
Thanks for posting this! Ordering ours this Winter.
Great vid as usual!!!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice 👍
For the 5th cabin, why not put a curtain up instead? It looks like they could have actually put a 24inch curtain right at the bottom of the steps. Thinking out loud here.
great video again! PS I love the light blue? gray? color on the bridge, Wow that makes it look better than the white that is always shown at the boat shows!!
Incredible video. Hopefully the Aquila people respond to you in a timely basis…always. I’m sure they know about your videos. 😂 So happy you are enjoying your dream come true so much!
You need to put tv in lower saloon opposite the seating not behind it on the wall! Most people sitting in saloon will have tv behind there heads! Strange place to put it! But your boat do it how you want!!
They make a portal that plugs into your TV so you don’t have to look at the small screen. Maybe worth it if you use it enough!
Is that door the only thing bringing in natural light ? If it is maybe a curtain inside instead of blacking it out. Just an idea. Nice videos love it👏🏽👏🏽🥂🍾👌🏽👍
Are you in Savannah sir? Looks like Thunderbolt!
Instead of darker tint, you might want to simply add a film that diffuses the light.
Hi Alan, were you able to resolve the issue with the window shades forward of the bridge steps on the starboard side? BTW, love your videos. Headed to the BVI in January for a Marine Max vacation.
Did you tint the windshield, and if so, did you notice any difference in visibility day or night?
I don’t take your comments as complaining. I think it is the reality of buying a new yacht. And the few companies with “pain free” experiences cost much more because they have far more labor involved. And, ultimately we need to realize that the 1991 luxury tax on boats nearly killed the industry in the US.
do you remember what the filter percentage was that you used? 40,50,60,70%?
Filter percentage?

Just heard at the end you are going to Ireland. Can you post an email address here I have an irish song of the sea to send you
Compared to BERING and what you have shown us, an Aquila 54 that I won't buy their brand. When being ships are deserved to you! it has everything on board to go including dishes plates fuel and pots and pans everything to go! All of what you said about things coming late? BERING will never do that, never, check them out, and see what you are missing.? comparing the interiors to a BERING is like a Nissan to a royal Royce? compare.
Ok enough of the Bering…please no more comments about Bering
