To be honest, Leona is my favourite singer ever, but Burn actually fits Ellie's voice better. There are just songs that suit particular voice types. Nothing to do with who has the better voice. It's just that some songs suit a particular vocal style~.
Leona has missed out on Burn, We Found Love, Halo, and Blank Page (Christina Aguilera). Simon Cowell's SYCO label made her pass on so many songs. Glad she signed to a new label last month.
It's not only about the songs but about the artist and promo too, yes she doesn't have those songs but she had better, for example glass heart is 100 times better than burn
Addicted to this version! We had this version played in my shop today - topshop Oxford street - London! I noticed some of the customers looking confused - I bet they preferred this version
I've always noticed the reggae undertone in Ellie's version. I like that the reggae feel is more upfront in this. Such a good song. Don't know why leona passes on such fantastic songs. This, we found love, strangers.
I read somewhere that this was meant for Glassheart but Leona didn't like it so she sent it back to Ellie who edited it and re-recorded it for Halycon.
Look regardless of whether Leona released Burn or Ellie, it still would have done well, they're both amazing artists in their own way, so credit to Ellie :)
Apparently this was initially recorded by Lew but it was omitted because they wanted more ballads on this album. What a mistake. Although I'll say this, Ellie's light soprano is nicer on this imo.
She didn't turned down wfl, Calvin choose Rihanna after he heard she sing, Leona thinks her own version is better but won't leak it because it would be unprofessional.
I think this song definitely fits Ellie better, though I prefer the production of Leona’s version. The are both fantastic but it is definitely Ellie’s song
Both versions are really different actually. I have to say I think I prefer Ellie's, this doesn't work for Leona. It works for Ellie because it requires a a singer with a smaller vocal range. Leona's range is wider and worthy of songs which show her vocals off more than this does.
I agree with your opinion, but the way you express it makes no sense. If she had such a wide vocal range, it shouldn't matter one jot to how she sings the song. It was more suited to Ellie because it required more ethereal vocals, something which Leona for all her 'skillz' is incapable of....
Leona uses more range and belts in her version. This isn't a belt song that needs big strong vocals. It needed some like Ellie, with a smaller range and not so much power.
nah, they are both different yes, but the hook on Leona's version crushes the flat version by Ellie "Burn, Burn, Burn" just sounds better with Leona, i like the 2 voices in harmony on it, Ellie's is basically just her "saying" burn and with no harmonics, The thing i dislike about Leona's is the use of autotune, when surely she doesn't need it, probably why she hated it, r&b producers use it just for the hell of it, its like a gimmick, can understand n-dubz using it coz they can't sing
This song was written by someone and originally offered to Leona Lewis. Leona felt the song wasn't the right sound for her. So it eventually ended up in the hands of Ellie Goulding. There is nothing wrong with that. It was put into the right hands, that's for sure. Leona makes great career choices. She sings this song flawlessly, but she deserves much bigger songs. Ellie has the perfect voice for this song!
Matt Stevens So Ellie co-wrote it for Leona, Leona recorded it, decided not to use it, then Ellie recorded. If you had said been that clear in the first place...
Ellie didn't write anything in this song. This song was written by Ryan Tedder, Greg Kurstin, Noel Zancanella and Brent Kutzle long before Ellie picked it up and recorded it for herself. The song was on the market only after Leona and her team rejected it and the song's been recorded at least 2 years before Ellie recorded it. Ellie never had a writing session with Tedder. Ellie's fans may be pressed as much as they want but she did nothing except singing the song.
It was the lead singer of One Republic who actually wrote this!! Leona dropped it and Ellie picked it up! Thankfully as i like Leona vers but LOVE ellie vers
Ellie has actually written a lot of songs, some of which she has sold/given to other artists, she's written songs for Diana Vickers, Gabriella Climi, Patty Griffin, etc. She's really a very good and talented songwriter, she'll either write a song specifically for a person, or she'll write a song, notice that it sounds similar or sounds better fitted to another artist's style and will get in touch with them. She wrote Burn with Ryan, Brent, Noel and Greg for Leona Lewis, who was apparently told to turn it down, therefore ellie jumped in and sang her own song. simple. they sound similar because it's the same song...
+STiG Actually Ellie wasn't an original writer on the song. It was only after the demo was given to her that she changed a lyric or two and got a writing credit for it.
Leona recorded this 2 years ago and then it was thrown out. Now its Ellie's song. Its the same with "Do it like a dude". Jessie J wrote the song, but Rihanna was going to sing it but it was given to Jessie.
Ellie's vocals don't come anywhere close to Leonas. I played this version to my friends yesterday - they all preferred this version! Absolutely no question about it - this version should have been released!
Actually it wasn't written by Ellie Goulding. Leona recorded it first but was scrapped from her album in favour for more ballads. Fast forward about a year and Ellie Goulding recorded her version and released it.
Go on Ellies Twitter, she said to a fan that she co wrote the song an leona just recorded it. Leona is just jealous that she missed hits like impossible, we found love and now burn. leona is a beautiful singer and she has one of the best voices in the world but just for ballads. Fast pop songs doesn't suit her. And Ellie killed it in this song.
Man, I have a lot of thoughts about this that I would like to share 1) I love Ellie's version. I like the way that her type of voice sounds on it; however, I believe that Leona released her version without us ever hearing Ellie's version, we would not have thought something was amiss or missing 2) I can see how Leona would feel that it's not "her" because it would be really different for her and kudos to her for being true to herself. I do feel however that this would have been a really big hit for her if she did choose to do it, and it would also slightly vary her current image, which is probably what she did not want 3) When it comes to the track itself minus the vocals, I hands down prefer this version. The details and the different nuances especially in the chorus I find makes this one shine brighter than the other one as the other one sounds more cookie cutter, simple mainstream dance track, good, but does not glimmer as much as this one could have I think 4) You may also notice that there are some different lyrics on this one. I prefer the lyrics here because I find that it makes more sense than the ones used in Ellie's. Phew I'm done!
I love this! I think Leona did a great job. I won't lie, I haven't heard the full length Ellie Goulding version but I have heard snippets. I have to question though, even if Leona released this, would it of had a big of an impact as Ellie's version did?
What people don't get is this is a demo not the final product like Ellies. Just by this I love leona's. The verse way better. I don't know why if Leona kept it and made it a single it wouldve been #1 world wide :). Also Leona has those runs at the end which are amazing :) Ellie doesn't :D
To be honest, Leona is my favourite singer ever, but Burn actually fits Ellie's voice better. There are just songs that suit particular voice types. Nothing to do with who has the better voice. It's just that some songs suit a particular vocal style~.
for those who are comparing this to Goulding's one, remember this is only the demo version and yet polished
And impossible by Shotelle
Maybe it is she who decided to not have this songs. No one better than her to know what suits her or not
It's kinda funny. She'd be more famous if she had accepted any of those songs.
Endri Sulaj Glassheart didn't get a single release though. So hardly anyone apart from die hard fans and the odd other person know about it.
This version is absolutely phenomenal & I am so sad she never released this .

Leona, why did you let this go? This and "We Found Love". Ughh.
Omg imagine album single campaign 1. We found love, 2. Glassheart, 3. Burn, 4. Sugar, 5. Fireflies
And dont forget colourblind either. That songs seriously has some power.
And Halo by Beyonce :/
We Found Love, Halo and Burn. Wtf???
@@carlosramonsilvaramos1261 Yasss, All Of Me by John Legend and Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson too
Addicted to this version! We had this version played in my shop today - topshop Oxford street - London! I noticed some of the customers looking confused - I bet they preferred this version

Suits Ellie more. Leona Lewis is kick ass but she suits more powerful songs.
I would like this version better, but it's clearly not finished or mastered.
DACNewsNetwork i don´t know, it has too much "effect" for leona voice, it suits perfectly to ellie goulding and her style.
Imagine, if this song was in Leona's Glassheart album it would probably have become number 1...
I read somewhere that this was meant for Glassheart but Leona didn't like it so she sent it back to Ellie who edited it and re-recorded it for Halycon.
Ben Cartwright No the song didn't make the cut for her album "Glass Heart"
Look regardless of whether Leona released Burn or Ellie, it still would have done well, they're both amazing artists in their own way, so credit to Ellie :)
Ellie and Leona did a great job on this.
I think part of the success of this song is due to Ellie's weird voice.
@Miriambrandon04not weird, but she sounded ANNOYING in this track. I would say as annoying as the dancey monkey girl.
“weird”? no!
@@jorgeescudero5034i disagree doesnt sound annoying to me!
All the songs that could have skyrocketed her career once again.
Leona's record company obviously hate her letting go of this.....
Leona is glad. She thinks Ellie did better than she ever would have done
Apparently this was initially recorded by Lew but it was omitted because they wanted more ballads on this album. What a mistake. Although I'll say this, Ellie's light soprano is nicer on this imo.
Imforeverone88 yeah ellie's voice is ethereal and atmospheric.
Yes yes yes!
i love your voice leona :)
nice
I'm obsessed with this version xxx
This is more harmonic but Ellie's is more dramatic which is fitting for a burning theme
Love this version x
Leona really has a talent to let great songs slip through her fingers, We found love and now this
I think both artists are equally good, I can't choose the best version.
i can't believe leona turned down WFL and burn.. its like when claire danes turned down the role as rose in titanic SMH :)
Robotboy and Halo by Beyonce
She didn't turned down wfl, Calvin choose Rihanna after he heard she sing, Leona thinks her own version is better but won't leak it because it would be unprofessional.
Robotboy It didn't make the cut for her album "Glass Heart"
i love both~!
Such a good song for Leona!
i prefer this version :S

@@RafaelGoodVibes that ur problème not mine
Still can't believe the UK music industry has missed out on this version. Instead we have to Ellie's version. Leona absolutely kills Ellie vocally
I think this song definitely fits Ellie better, though I prefer the production of Leona’s version. The are both fantastic but it is definitely Ellie’s song
They both sing this great, but have to say I personally prefer this version better than Ellie's one.
Alix Thomas me too
For me i prefer ellie’s
I can feel the song more on ellies
people are forgetting this is only a demo
Brilliant cover.
The best version ever of this song
lol. leona's voice is amazing, that's why she slays
She gave up We found Love, a number 1 single, and this song which looks set to be number 1 on the UK charts.
I love this version

Smaller vocal range, Ellie ? :D
Iskender Yüksel Ellie doesn't have a 4 octave vocal range.
I agree with your opinion, but the way you express it makes no sense. If she had such a wide vocal range, it shouldn't matter one jot to how she sings the song. It was more suited to Ellie because it required more ethereal vocals, something which Leona for all her 'skillz' is incapable of....

MollieMorris44 same person who wrote this wrote bleeding Love for Leona. (Ryan Tedder)
Yes. Ellie’s voice suits better for this.
But, the lyrics & style is totally Leona’s!
La meilleur vertion ce cette chansons!!!!! 1000 / 10 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Ooohhh i love this better than Ellie’s
It's more suitable for Ellie's voice :)
Iskender Yüksel it's not even finished and you're used to Ellie's version that's why.
Just incredible!!
Beautiful saw this on Tik tok! I love both versions hard to choose but obviously was raised with Ellie’s!
Why on earth would Leonas voice be auto tuned - do me a favour! Her voice is incredible and this version should have been released
I think they both sing it well, it's just that Leona gives it more emotional depth with her voice.. you can just tell :)
This is how this song should have sound, I like Ellie, but, come on, it's Leona who we're talking about
Both versions are good! stop now :) enjoy the music!! love
"This song is written by: Ellie Goulding, Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, Noel Zancanella and Greg Kurstin" NO §
THIS SONG IS WRITTEN BY LEONA LEWIS DAMN !
How was Ellie Goulding included as a co-writer when it was Leona who recorded it first and the lyrics are identical?
***** That doesn't make sense. Leona recorded it first and the lyrics are identical. So why is Ellie listed as a writer and not Leona?
***** Because Ellie wrote it, Leona just recorded this demo but she never wrote anything. Is it that hard?
Matt Stevens So Ellie co-wrote it for Leona, Leona recorded it, decided not to use it, then Ellie recorded. If you had said been that clear in the first place...
***** If people were actually good at explaining things in the first place...
Ellie didn't write anything in this song. This song was written by Ryan Tedder, Greg Kurstin, Noel Zancanella and Brent Kutzle long before Ellie picked it up and recorded it for herself. I can hear ryan tedder :3
This track actually has vocsls from the Norwegian production team StarGate, who also known for making the hit The Fox
Burn, We Found Love, Halo...what other hits has Leonas label turned down?!
All of my by John legend. It was originally a duet with Leona

she wrote the whole song 2 years ago and sold it to leona, when it wasn't used it was bought back by ellie and she recorded it in her style.
Correction on my previous comment, she was one of the writers.

why she passed this song, it will be a great hit's!

If Leona Lewis did release this song, this would be added to her number 1 singles. Unfortunately Simon Cowell and Syco passed the song on.
