  • My quest to remove standing from all Valve games inches closer to completion with Half Life Opposing Force. Will I be able to beat it or will I be unable to stand the challenge?

Yeees, perfect thing to watch while eating my breakfast.
Edit: at 2:58 I think I remember some hl quirkyness about this map that if you die a bunch of times trying to get up the ramp, another invisible ramp appears making it so you don't even have to jump.
    Edit2: oh well.

"Cube shaped explosive barrels" - GLaDOS evil twin probably

18:46 Yes. Really that applies to most explosives; someone realized, quite a long time ago, that having explosives so unstable you can't do anything with them if there's even a chance of them being jostled, heated up slightly, moved around, etc, is not the best idea, so most explosive devices rely on a specific chemical or mechanical trigger. The movies definitely exaggerate for drama; plastic explosives are so stable that I believe during the Vietnam war, American soldiers would eat bits of them to simulate illness.
It was definitely a bold choice to have rope physics in this game. It's impressive they work as well as they do, but I'm glad they did away with them in future installments. The movement on them is just so bizarre.

Yeah, the ropes are weird in this game. I'm surprised none snuck into Blue Shift

@@KazyMatmanGiven the fact that Blue Shift was originally going to be a dreamcast exclusive before it was canned and then ported to pc, it was limited to stuff from the first half life game (probably because gearbox was only assigned to do the expansion for the dreamcast and just didn't want to import stuff from their first expansion if it wasn't going to be part of said port).

Great video. Just to let you know in case you are not already aware of: Half-Life 1 also contains the official demo, Half-Life Uplink. It shouldn't really take you much more time than Half-Life 2: Lost Coast did. :)

What if you try Entropy Zero 1 and 2? With their TTK being much lower than In Half life 2, this should be challenging.

I have thought about doing mod challenge runs but I have a lot of vanilla runs I want to do first

If Opposing Force ever gets the HL 25th anniversary treatment, I do hope they tone down the night vision, or add an option to make it just white.
Because man, that green just burns your eyes, especially if you play at night lol.
I once tried to set reshade to add a black and white filter when you pressed the night vision, and it kinda worked, but it wasn't consistent.

Opposing Force already has the 25th anniversary treatment. The same applies to Blue Shift.
