- TALKING PUMA NITRO TECHNOLOGY with TODD FALKER - EDDBUD - PUMA FOREVER. FASTER.
I got to spend lots of time with the amazing TODD FALKER at PUMA.
We explore NITRO FOAM TECHNOLOGY, DESIGN CHOICES WITHIN THE FORVERRUN NITRO & FAST-R NITRO, along with some older designs, plus Todd gives us the lowdown on his recent training and racing.
This man plays a mean game of Pool too!
As always, interesting developments in the world of running!
Hold tight people, stay strong and we WILL make it through.
Keep it nice in the comments please, i do not do unpleasant, its just ..... unpleasant. See you in the digital ones and zeros......

Puma are making some of the best running shoes for their price at the moment, I recently run my first marathon in a pair of Deviate Elite V1, and they were amazing.
Great to see you Edd doing interviews with big brands, can't wait for many more to come.
Puma improves, Nike gets worse and more woke.
Yes Puma at the top right now. Materials wise and in innovation.
I agree with you. I bought a pair of Deviate Nitro Elite (at £85), I've tested at the running track and they've literally "smoked" all the other carbon plated shoes I've previously tested (Nike Vaporfly, Saucony Pro 2/Plus/3). Videos are available on my channel.
Missed this one last year…Ed sitting down…whoa…😅
Rare occurrence.
You’re a natural at interviewing. 😀
Thanks Claire! Was so good talking to Todd. He’s a great guy and very excited by the shoes in general.
Puma and Saucony are smashing all other running brands at the minute for quality and price point can see some serious R&D coming through in new models and updates
Mega models around right now. Lots more to come in 2024!
I just bought my first ever Puma, a Deviate Nitro 2 two days ago at a discounted price and dude, I love it! The plushy feel while walking after my run was so comforting.
Just feel like you’re in your absolute element here Edd, love to see it
It was such fun!
Man this content is fucking awesome. So glad to see you getting the fruits of your hard work Edd. One of the best shoetubers out there, no cap whatsoever. One thing I would say, it’s clear to say that the care to detail that Puma are putting in is really meticulous.
Love nerding out about foams and technology 🤓
Puma has come a long way! Great interview! 👍🏻👍🏻
It’s like a kid in a sweet shop for me. 🤣
Great video getting to see you chatting to a company about their products 👏👏
I got a pair of forever run. Very nice and soft but light and nimble. Stability not noticed but good to know it is there. Thanks Edd Bud.
Thanks for sharing!
Great interview Edd ! Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Thanks
Loved this interview! So good to hear some of the thinking behind the shoes.
So glad to hear Puma is watching your channel! They know who the high quality reviewers are.
🐈⬛
Great interview, I always love hearing about the foams and technology. The brand is little known but for your wife a True Motion shoe could be an option, a German company that developed a horseshoe shaped midsole to center the knee, after decades of knee issues this allowed me to do longer runs without knee pain when reaching 10k or so, I even did my first marathon in one of them and saw quite a few runners use them for marathons as well. Also works well with my pronation/mild stability needs.
Realy great interview
Thanks for tuning in
I typically skip interviews done by UA-cam runners I subscribe to due to the lack of journalistic skills. You actually did a really good job! Absolutely zero “cringe” moments! Cheers!
Thanks I appreciate it. Being yourself is the key.
Great video , after seeing the thumbnail I was slightly disappointed I didn’t get to see the arm wrestle 💪🏻
That’s one challenge we didn’t do 🤣👍🏼
Great interview! Coming back from pneumonia to smash a marathon 👀.
Hope you didn't return to a home full of pre-blessed Romanian Riesling!
Managed to avoid being booked for jaywalking.
Nice!🎉
Thanks Edd and Todd.
Such a cool guy!
Hi eddbud 👋 , very interesting , wow that elite looked amazing with the big nitro on the side 👏 👍
Yes lots of new stuff in the pipeline. Super exciting
What a great, enjoyable video! Love it, well done Ed
Thanks! These have gone down very well
Love Todd calculates in EC.. GREAT
The man is a legend.
Great stuff, Ed!
Todd from Puma 👍 great guest and great interview. Love the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite V1. One of my favourite all purpose racing shoes from 5km to 30km.
great interview, edd! todd is a really sympathetic guy!
He’s into earth credits. Good enough for me. 👍🏼
Thanks for this! I wish u could do more of these with different brand techs like asics FF, boost, zoom x…etc
Will do my best to get some more under my belt.
so we're just going to sit here and not discuss the Puma necklace Todd is wearing?
It was part standard / part pearl. Very fetching! 🤣🐈⬛
Great interview. Well done 👍
Much appreciated
As endearingly quirky as some of the wackier Puma efforts have been (remember Mobium?), I’m glad they’re taking the segment more seriously now with Todd at the helm.
Yes he is the captain of this midsole journey.
Edd, That was a great interview. The interaction with Todd was really entertaining and it was very enjoyable to watch and learn more about the Puma shoes. I'll definitely be giving some of the new models a go later in the year.
Thanks for watching! He’s a super guy and really enthusiastic and invested in the shoes he helped to design.
Nice, love Luma shoes!
🐈⬛
Congrats, again, Edd. You must be buzzing.
Puma definitely didn’t put much work into the running segment for a long time. But they had other sports locked.
It’s good to see the other Herzo brand doing better these days. But the only Puma I’m wearing is to support The Blues.
I would have loved to hear Peter Moore or Jacques Chassaing mentioned. That plate “bridge” is their innovation.
Good stuff!
✌🏽💙👟
Some serious innovations coming. Can’t wait to see more!
nice content sir
Much appreciated
Great video Ed looks like the trip to Boston was good. And yes Puma are bringing out some great shoes, great value and as we discussed before those Fast R's are beasts.
I often wonder if my cat had something to do with it all.
Loving these interviews, is this gonna be a ' thing ' :)
Will do as many as I can in the future 👍🏼👊
Todd is the Best!
A mean pool player too 🤣👍🏼
Edd! Your interview skills 🔥Really enjoyed this one! Im getting the D 2 based on this-there’s a sweet color black/white with a wild bowling shoe x big cat energy vibe.
Edd's in love ❤
No love lost on the pool table. Todd is a mean player!
Another great interview ,listening to this in the background (like a podcast while working ). You know my view on the current Puma products (my pic indicates my bias), but only because I have tried or raced in most of the current crop and the proof is in the pudding. I would argue that the TPE nitro based shoes are arguably better all rounders then the Peba based shoe ... but then it should be I guess given its role.
Durability wise you may be right there. Great stuff though all round.
Great interview! Love the talk about the elite 2, maybe I should give them a go. Currently I am preparing for my first half, probably with the deviate nitro 2. For an insane price it's a pretty good shoe, especially in that orange colourway ❤
The elite 2 is a cracker. Lovely versatile model
Great energy Edd and great interview - learnt a lot. I’m a puma fan so keen to hear about the technology. Hope to get the DNE 2 on a deal soon.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wish they would do something like a slide or beach sandal with this hunky nitro midsole.
Maybe there’s something on the way
Todd is a super nice guy. 👍 Was hoping to connect with him (and you) over the marathon weekend but just got pulled in too many directions. Signed up for the Puma Sunday morning shake out but really needed to chill out before race day. 😎
Had a great time and made memories to never forget.
@@EDDBUD Come on back next year and run the race! 😉
@@bobbyearleobrien Need to get faster first to even qualify!
Should've asked him about the Nitro Fast-Roid! I've only seen a few websites discuss it, but no reviews or how many will be (were) made. They look awesome.
I don’t think that shoe will launch now. It was really a test shoe of sorts. I did see it and held it in hand.
Darn, so not even a limited release buyable with NFT as announced?
Interesting bit on the 47C and 43C . Or was it 45C
Pretty much every reviewer says the Fast-R heel is EVA but one of the shoetubers (Alex) made a correction in his followup video review, saying it is NOT EVA. Do we have the final word on whether it is EVA or Nitro (non-Elite)
Todd suggests it’s Eva Pro Foam. He made it so I go with him!
What about a special edition “Puma UltraRide 2 Nitro L.E.”
There’s a TON of stuff coming soon.
My Liberate v1s are still holding up well after 600 or 700km, might buy another pair either v1 or v2
My word! Puma will be happy to hear that!
@EDDBUD yeah I mean I don't detect too much deterioration in the midsole, Pumagrip still works very well although has worn away a bit, I think I can get a few hundred more kms out of them if I play my cards right
@@jonmatthews721 Todd will be pleased to hear they are still rocking.
That's insane! I have 2 pars, one fresh and one with 150 km on them. It feels incredibly different, much less cushion and rebound. So my experience is the opposite... Low durability
@@QronoZ713 Can’t say any of mine have diminished over time like that. Maybe storage conditions or temps?
Waiting for my deviate nitro 2 to arrive.... Although I haven't run for 6 months due to injury
The deviate nitro elite 2? Not launched yet there?
@@EDDBUD it's available here in Malaysia but that shoe is an overkill for a injured jogger like me 😅😅
I'm afraid I won't be able to stop if I run with Nitro. 😱
Very interesting, I always thought their nitro was a supercritical EVA or TPU, didn't know they used TPEE as the starting point like Lightstrike Pro is. Explains why they both last forever
Todd had some super insights. Really explains the process and the reason the nitro shoes are holding up so well after so many miles.
Me too. TPEE based nitro explains why it feels quite different than Brooks DNA Flash and NB Fuelcell foams. It is also very durable even in exposed areas.
wish we could get those forever faster shirts in Europe
I think it was a promo thing for the event
What is the difference of the futrograde Forever run to the normal forever run?
I believe it's just a different colorway, inspired by some NY fashion show. Can't tell any difference based on the description or photos.
hello
Deviate nitro elite3
Black shoes🤔🤔
There’s one coming!
Mr. EddNitro midsole 🤣
Flexing two watches
One on miles. One on km.
makes sense👌
Unfortunately Puma presence in Romania is crap. Local Puma store only has antique shoes. Fix that!!
Will speak to Puma on this.
Where is cheekster777
I'm taking 2nd and 3rd place here...
Bit early. I have significant jet lag. 🤦🏻♂️✈️
