I Tried a $98 Saucony Tempus from Amazon: First Run Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 лип 2024
- The Saucony Tempus is a stability shoe that blends elements of speed and support. Priced at $160, it attempts to serve both stability and fun by using a race day foam combined with a firmer training foam. I was able to pick up a pair for $98 on Amazon thanks to our friend of the channel Tyler Rippel. In this video, I give an overview of the shoe, take it out for a 10 mile first run and let you know how it compares to other stability shoes on the market.

Major shoutout to Crocs (!!!), our first-ever sponsor here on the channel. I'll be rocking the Crocs Recovery Slides for the next few weeks, and Charli the Recovery Clogs (Slides are good so far but Charli says her Clogs are better - both are super comfy. Think New Balance 1080 or Asics Gel-Nimbus). Pick up your kid's new summer Crocs or your own new recovery slides using my link to help support the channel. Here's my link to the slides: crocs-us.xkpq.net/jrYQKn (anything you buy on the site will count)
Some promo codes for you: CROCS15 ($15 off $75), CROCS20 ($20 of $100)

This thing is an island shoe. One of the "if you can only bring one shoe with you to a deserted island to train, which shoe do you bring?" shoes. It can do absolutely everything. Glad you finally snagged a pair. My pair were boucy out of the box but a little firm. Around mile 20 it totaly changed and the ride got softer and smoother, especially in the heel. Fantastic shoe
Can't wait to put some more miles in this - such a smooth workhorse on the first run
@@supwell the miles only get better in it. From half-marathon-mile pace all the way down to recovery pace, the miles get smoother and smoother
You got it right 👌
Men the announcement for adistar byd, puma deviate nitro 3, adizerol sl 2. Makes me hype for your upcoming review on them. Let's go! 🔥🔥🔥
Also outsole grip theory: The harder the rubber = more durable = can be thinner + lighter. To get a grippy outsole you’re gonna sacrifice on weight or durability. Personally I think we’re getting carried away with weight and forget that shoes don’t last nearly as long as they used to. Bring back thicker outsoles fr!
Except Puma grip.... Both hard wearing and tacky
@@QronoZ713yeah, puma grip is unbeatable IMO
🎉Congrats on the Crocs sponsorship!!🎉
Awesome! Thanks for reviewing the Tempus! Been waiting for this.. really keen to use for my upcoming marathon.. I need support and stability on my long runs. Tempus, Boston 12, kinvara pro,.. undecided.. Look forward to your upcoming comparisons!
Grats on the Crocs! sponsorship ! Wish you tested the Tempus before the 22’s. :) Kids, in their upper teens, still love their crocs.
Went to an outlet shopping centre this morning and couldn't believe what I saw. New Tempus shoes for 2394 THB ($65). I bought 3 pairs, happy to stockpile such a great shoe.
I got them off amazon for the same price!
I just got these too. Love it. I can finish my run without my legs and feet feeling hurt
Congrats on the sponsorship from Crocs Yowana!🎉
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 thank you!
Absolutely love the Tempus.
I did around 440 Miles on my first pair, had a tare in the front tip b/w the foams in one of them, fixed it up with some glue, and it still awesome.
Also have another one who made half of that distance.
I looked got a bit of stability, yet flexible and diverse and this shoe is just perfect for me as a daily trainer that can certainly pick up the pace.
Now you know what to do: marathon world record in Crocs!
Now that's an idea! 🤔
The Tempus really grew on me as I got more miles. I’m just ready for the upper change.
Yowana! Bro this is my current daily grinder (I’ve got flat feet), and man I have zero complaints. Used to run in Adidas Energy Boost 2 ages ago as a 10k racer so I’ve always been partial to boost style foams. Feels like it can handle running any distance and is relatively built to last. I’ve got 300k on mine and it’ll probably do double that ez. I love the fact that it doesnt get bottomed out at a slow pace. Would be keen to see how you find it at fast paces? Some intervals or smth. Love your vids been watching for a while and I’m a mad running geek too. Would love to chop it up some time! Gonna be sussing out some of those marathon training philosophies.
Cheers man,
Kav
I put 700 miles on an old pair of Ultraboost! Was my second pair of shoes after the Nike epic react. That's a great comparison for this - and good idea on faster workouts. stay tuned for that
I bought a pair of Endorphin Speed 2's for $80 on Amazon, and while they arrived in a sketchy package and are a hideous color way, they are awesome for quality sessions.
Good review as usual! I'm right now debating between Triumph 21/20 and the Tempus..
So confusing, I need them for my long runs on marathon training.
the tempus definitely has better stability, so if that's a consideration at all i'd go tempus. still need to test on a 2+ hour long run though so stay tuned for that
That's really interesting about the weight discrepancy on the Amazon shoes. The Tempus got a lot of good reviews when it first released. It could be outlet type stock. And yes, shout out to Crocs. They're my go-to putter-around-the-house shoe. I've also seen quite a few nurses wearing the max stack Bondi Crocs to work.
Max stack bondi crocs sound awesome - I have to check those out
Can you review the Kayano 30/31? Deciding on that vs Tempus vs 860v14 for running/walking. Thanks and keep it up!
I sent back my Triumph 21 and bought the Tempus instead. Much better trade off and running feels a lot nicer and bouncier. In fact I also sold off my NB3 and preferred the tempus too
I bought the T21, but sent them back; the Tempus is a much more balanced and versatile shoe.
@@st4331 Also for long runs?
love these. rotate between this, the speed 3 and 1080 v13 for my training.
Great rotation 👌🏽
Mother Nature.... Putting in that work on those grout lines!
😂
I picked some up from Amazon about 2 months ago. I love them more that I paid 70 for mine. I got the black and white ones. 😊
Yesss my daily trainers now I can compare your opinion of these with the rest you review lol
Yeah grip is bad, was slipping on some strides today after mid run rain
I Think it's blessing in disguise that you received size 11 bc most slides tend to shrink especially when exposed to sunlight.
Tempus is a sleeper value trainer. I’m on my third pair!
I bought the Saucony Shify 3's for $68 on Amazon and looking at the Saucony Triumph 21 for $98
🐿️ Squirrels are resilient, bro!
can you do a video or two about what shoe or shoe rotation you would buy if you were just starting to run and train for a marathon. knowing what you know now. thanks!
I have regularly bought Puma running shoes from Puma website and all are pretty good except one (Puma Velocity Nitro 2) pair. The left weighs 239 grams and the Right one weighs 254 grams.
I'm not sure if they are gonna still make the Axon shoe, but V3 is a very nice shoe..I got them for $70 and was surprised about the comfort..it will be too hot for summer running but it's more enjoyable than the pro4 on my feet..has that nice squish for my feet..it has XT-600 tread and looks like it may last a long time..ah the joy of mosquitoes..if you run fast enough they can't keep up..hahaha..
Did you see that Adidas released the Adizero SL2? Also, for the new running hats, will there be other color options available? Such as white or grey base and black letters?
Tempus is one of my favourite shoes. After 450 miles the foam has lost some pep, but they feel like wearing slippers so I'll keep using them for recovery runs. I checked the weight difference between left and right shoes, and it was only 5g, which isn't noticeable.
Mate mad respect for logging 450miles in one pair👌🏾 do they still have rubber left?
@@kavinmaharaj9070 All rubber is intact and has plenty of wear left! I'm a mid-foot striker and don't seem to put uneven wear on any part of running shoes. Even my Mach 5's are looking great after 100 miles (bought recently, along with some Mach 6 and ES3, so not getting huge mileage yet).
That's amazing durability! Thanks for sharing
Hello yowana please running more on cloudMonster 2 hyper to do comparison with Asics superblast
My og endorphin speed v1 and endorphin pro 3 both are dangerous when running in the rain or on wet pavement. The rubber is legitimately slick when wet. I wish they would just go to continental or goodyear or Michelin and get some grippy rubber.
Just picked the tempus up at going going gone for $60, good finds if there’s one nearby
Mellow crocs are the best!
Tempus is weird shoes in a good ways, really soft and bouncy and give you a good pop
G'day mate you will find that the Tempus is best suited for long runs, 2 hours plus. 🤙🤙
My pair of Tempus (Hydeo/Poppy Blue colorway) from Amazon purchased at $90 a few months ago also have the weight difference and in fact my US10 pair is heavier than your 10.5:
L - 298g, R-282g
I bought discounted Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 and Pro 3 (2 pairs) from Amazon before and they do not exhibit such wide weight difference.
that's wild! it seems like amazon third-party sellers who heavily discount may get the pairs that fail quality control - at least sometimes
I’d love to see a review of Novablast 4 TR!!! Your contents are awesome!
How did it compare to the Puma foreverrun?
I think Puma actually designed that shoe to compete directly with the Tempus.
I bought exactly the same shoe same color same Amazon.
People were saying they felt differences in the triumph 21 compared to 20 even though officially it was just an upper update. Sooo idk!
Get you some mosquito Joe for the summer. That backyard is beautiful!
Duuude we need it! My neighbors got it though and they said it did isn't really work. But I'll try anything 😂
@@supwell I have used a couple different services and it works good but you might get a few stray mosquitos from other yards sometimes. I only use it from like may through September.
I don’t believe you need stability shoes, but do you find any benefit from running in them, especially on worn out legs?
Also, I really wanted to buy these shoes but the arch was very prominent and I don’t know if that would bother me.
I may look at them or the version 2 if they get good reviews.
Great question - honestly a lot of the neutral shoes have good stability now. Shoes like novablast 4 and even the plated racing shoes. But biggest difference is around the ankles and feet - I notice a difference for sure on the second run of the day when my feet are most tired. That's where I get the biggest benefit - feels like the extra stabilizing properties takes some of the burden off my ankles/feet
SLUGGGGGGGG
I never buy shoes off Amazon. I just don't ever know what I'll be getting. It is interesting that they may just get shoes that don't meet quality criteria. I did try the Tempus when it first came out, but it just didn't feel comfortable. To me it felt pretty restrictive on my foot.
I’ve been looking at these cause I love my speed 2s (so fast, soft but bouncy) but the foam at the heel kills my ankle cause it sinks inward so can only do 2-4 miles.
However, you mentioned the heel being super soft here.. did it still
Hold your ankle in place though? That’s a big factor
Massive difference, yes. I own both the ES2 and Tempus. Similar feel in the foam, absolutely, but the EVA carrier (and medial sidewall) holds things together nicely in the Tempus. You should love it.
Yeah you can’t heavy heel strike in the endorphin really I’d be excited if the tempus had more support
Yeah the ankle support is amazing. It has a soft landing but still feels super supportive. Would be a perfect replacement for your endorphin speed 2
Hi, do you recommend the tempus for walking? For a one stop vacation sneaker?
Yeah 100p would be great for both of those! I walked in it yesterday and it's solid for that. It's a little on the firmer side for walking but very supportive and I imagine would be perfect if you're going to be on your feet for 3+ hours each day walking on vacation. If you're not going to run in the shoe, my top walking pick for cushioned comfort is the brooks ghost max. But Tempus is better for running
@@supwell Would you go Tempus or 860 v14 for all day walking comfort and support?
Does this run narrow? I pronate but my feet are kind of wide as well. For instance Endorphin Shift work for me but the regular Kinvara (not the pro) seemed to run small for me.
No, much nicer fit for wide feet than T21 for instance. I have wide feet but the standard fit is perfect for me.
@@st4331 So T21 runs narrow? I’m thinking if I should buy a wide version of T21 because sometimes toe box runs too narrow in some shoes.
@@proudbacteria1373 Yes, the only shoe I've tried that was tighter in the toe-box was the Puma Nitro 2; though I found the Deviate Nitro 2 in wide fitting, so that was fine. Even my ES2, which I thought were a bit tight, were far better than the T21
It didn't feel as narrow to me as other Saucony shoes! I was happily surprised
The tempus roll on toe off is next level. An under rated walking shoe as well.
This is what made me get into saucony its game changing. Is there enough cushion in the tempus for a LR?
@@Crose46 yes it can do every run
Would it be worth it as a primary walking shoe and a light jogging shoe?@@nathangarrett7126
Hi mate! See, I understand your idea on not spending any money on upper updates. I think the same as you. BUT, in this case... an upper update in the Tempus IS NECESSARY. First of all, because it is not a good upper. It is way too narrow and rigid. And that's why it is also uncomfortable to walk with them (I know it is not design to do so, but you understand). With the new upper, it will be a complete new shoe.
👍
Hey man I just picked up the Grey and blue ones for 65.22 lol . U are a bad influence my friend. The last shoe I did this with was the Max Road 6. What's nextb???
Hahahaa I'm not liable for fueling any shoe addictions 😂
Lol i have a problem@supwell
Crocs Sponsor?? Been grinding in the crocs since 2014. Crocs x Supwell Collab croc soon?? lmao
Hahaha we need a Supwell certified crocs jibbitz
How does this compare to ride 17?
Much softer and bouncier. Ride 17 was firmer and not as fun to run in. Both have good stability but the heel support is better in the tempus
I want compare to endorphin pro 4 please.
Those two shoes are nothing alike though…
ㅋㅋ ㅎㅇ
baby slug! If you've every seen a video of a great blue heron spearing and gulping gophers, you wouldn't call them calm and peaceful!
Wait until you try Tempus. Wait, you are actually trying Tempus!? :D
Indeed! Solid shoe
would you kill me If I said I got the Supercomp V1 lol😊
Hahaha so many ppl love that shoe - for some reason didn't work for me at the time. I wonder if I'd like it now
@@supwell Maybe… I put like 20 miles in it before I started to like it I just had to adjust a little and get the lockdown right
18g different between the shoes….. Geeze… it means the sole foam are different density….that is so bad. At least they shoe pair them up with another pair of the same weight…. If your left leg feels a little more sore, you know why!! lol. 😂
Finally some free feet 😩
😂
“Oh my gosh…(pause)…DISGUSTING…”
Pour salt on the slugs 🐌
Dude put a t-shirt or tank top on
Hard midsole. Very narrow toebox & heavy . Terrible shoe.
Nicely cushioned mid-sole, wide toe-box and light. What shoe did you buy?
