According to Martin, Grandpa is an example of toxic uselessness. I may have coined a new term that could apply to lots of people, especially these days.
There is actually a layman's term in psychology that specifically refers to this, it's called Weaponized Incompetence. Psychology Today has an interesting article about it.
This movie or special, whatever you wanna call it, holds a special place in my memory. Yeah it’s a random cartoon but I remember watching this with my mom when it came on Cartoon Network. I don’t really care if it makes sense or not, it’s a cute cartoon and the little memories that come with it are worth it lol
That wasn't a hit and run. That was a hit and kidnapping. Santa could have easily brought her to a hospital, but he didn't. He took her with him for months.
So all the music. ALL THE MUSIC (grandpa's going to sue the pants off of santa) is from the guy who made the original Ran Ovet By A Reindeer song. He also is the narrator and voices Grandpa. This is basically a Ad for CDs 56:00 that's exactly what happened!
This was always a Christmas tradition for me to watch this movie. I’ll never forget the good old days of Cartoon Network in the city era of 2004. It always felt like every kid who grew up in those years of Cartoon Network had to watch this movie.
The onyl reason I remember this is because CN used to advertise it religiously. I never really understood the movie but that wouldnt stop them from showing it a dozen times during the christmas season
Bro the fact this movie came out on HALLOWEEN OF 2000!!! What were the producers on when they made this movie? 😂😂😂 34:53 Damn 😂 58:14 I love this quote 😆 58:30 This was so funny 🤣
Tbf Grandma's fruit cake was spiked with something that drove Santa's reindeer crazy, which caused them to run towards Grandma. Santa couldn't control them.
I always hated the song and movie because they try to build it up like it's funny but I was always horrified by the idea that your grandma was run over by the equivalent to a stampede and potentially die.
The Christmas song for people with abusive grandmothers. I loved this song so much. Sang it in front of my grandmother. She had no idea why I liked the song so much.
The original song was a parody by Randy Brooks made in response to a rather morbid song about a dead grandma at Christmas that Merle Haggard put into one of his albums. The version of the song that got popular was done by a sort of Patsy and Cline style pair several years later.
That's exactly why I had to do a doubletake when I saw the notifcation for this review come up- like "Yo, I thought the DT crew did this one years ago!" A quick look on YT will show that everyone and their dead grandma has reviewed this movie. Turns out it was worth the wait! The bit with Santa "taking out Grandma" before she "said too much" had me dying. "Hey, Santa, she might still be alive, shouldn't we go back to help her?" "No- MUSH!".
Cousin Mel is honestly super hot. Lol. But also, I really do wonder why they didn't even talk about that corny song that grandpa sang when Mel was asking him to sign. "I need you to sign here." "Did you say sing?" "No, I said sign." "Well, I'd rather sing!" And then grandpa starts singing. What a goofy transition into a song.
It actually does make sense though. You've gotta remember that these animated characters are based on the human anatomy. That's literally the art style. Human physic. Being attracted to a fictional character that is literally art of the human form isn't as odd as you would think.
My family and I were laughing out loud so much watching this in a hotel after seeing the book of mormon in chicago. Such a good memory. Grandpa is hilarious!
Damn straight! Always played on the Kid's WB every holiday year. 🤣 I actually remember the sock party song they played during this time: Lots of stinky smelly feet make your holiday compete a sock a sock a sock a sock a sock a sock a sock party! No shoes no shoes no shoes no shoes no shoes! It really is a classic from the 90s. 😂
Not too much on Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer (2000). This movie’s been iconic!! 🗣️ ETA: Y’all we’re extra hilarious in this one. I couldn’t stop laughing. 😂
I don't know if her parents told her this, but when I was in high school, a girl I knew thought that granny was a little bit off because she was allergic to the egg nog and did not have her meds to counteract it. I'm like no, there is liquor in the egg nog, she is drunk.
It’s a cute song to listen to as a kid, but then it sounds horrific when you’re an adult; hearing about Grandma being killed in a hit and run. Plus it gets graphic mentioning the hoof prints on her forehead; song has definitely not aged well.
I can’t believe there’s someone on this planet who would hear this song and think, “Yikes, this makes me uncomfortable, this song is definitely problematic and dated,”. Y’all are a trip man.

Lol I swear a lot of these movies y'all put in the bad movie roast I enjoy. This is definitely not an amazing movie but I liked it. It's part of my childhood

Jake had enough. He even made the Arthur fist. If Mel didn't leave when she did, she may have ended up like D.W. in that one episode. haha

Both animated gals are very hot closing towards to the 25th Anniversary.
(no pantalones) Lol I used to watch this on cartoon network every year and I never noticed that nasally adlib voice on the song
There's so many versions of this song.
Grandma got ran over by a semi.😂
There's probably a dirty version of it
As well.
Grandma got f@cked by a reindeer.
