  • Evaluating the unbiblical traditions of Catholicism. Having rejected the gospel of grace they have added a bunch of works and a bunch of mediators between you and God.
We will deal with several specific teachings that have developed over time in Catholicism. Teachings about Mary, indulgences, the seven sacraments, the Eucharist and more.

Sounds like a good punchline, but take a look at the guy in Luke 12: 13-14, who prayed directly to Jesus and was rebuked. The powerful prayers are those from a humble heart........see Luke 18: 9-14.

@@miketeixeira7853 perhaps I'm mistaken, but nowhere in that passage does it say this man prayed to Jesus.
      Luke 12:13-14 (King James Version):
"13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?"
Here, the man is at best asking Jesus to serve as a judge or divider/arbiter, as Jesus Himself replied. There is nothing about prayer here, less so anything divine. Jesus was approached like a tribe elder or as unto Moses to settle a dispute:
      Exodus 18:25-26:
"25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves."

That is why salvation is through the Catholic faith. Why would I listen to heretics like Graham or Osteen leading souls away from Heaven when I have something so much greater than them. Are they all you have? This greater thing is a path to heaven through His Church that Jesus founded. Absolute historical proof He did found the Church and appointed Peter as first pope. BTW the position as pope is referred to as Holy Father not the specific person. We have had a few very unholy popes over 2000 years. The title comes with the job. Have you been born again through water and spirit as the bible says? You can't enter heaven if not. Just read John 3. Of course we all fail and sin sometimes but that is why Jesus instituted the sacrament of confession. Believe me when I say when you leave the confessional and say your penance it fells like a load has been lifted from you. A feeling you probably will never experience. Yes the gates are narrow and few outside the Church will probably see heaven. That's up to God to determine though. This comment makes me think of something. When Jesus gave the 2 greatest commandments. It reminds me of this concept.
The faith part is loving God with all your heart mind and soul.
The works are like the love for your neighbor, as you love yourself.
I’m not saying these are absolute truths but this is how I’ve started to look at the true reason for works. Works is for others and to be that reflection of light from God.
Faith is being secured in Jesus and strengthening it by growing our relationship with Him thru His holy Word.

esus gave us Commandments - not suggestions - for which there are penalties for non-performance. Ananias and Sapphira from the 1st Christian - Faith - community, were " executed " by God because they did not put their Faith into Action.- Acts 5.
Because we are responsible for all sins after Baptism, Jesus on the very day of His Resurrection from the dead, breathed His Spirit and - empowered - all the Apostles to forgive - or retain - Sins - John 20:22-23. This breathing was the same as the Breath that gave the life-force to the earth-created Adam - Genesis 2:7. Therefore Catholics confess to their Priests, as Apostles don't live forever. Confession thus restores the Life-Force to souls deadened by sin, especially Deadly ( Mortal ) sins - James 5:16-17. Protestants don't confess and thereby retain their sins.

After all, we become what we eat and drink. And God wants us to be Spiritual People. Therefore, Paul cautions that we should partake of Holy Communion - worthily - 1 Corinthians 11:27.
Acts 2:42 states that the 1st Christian community - devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles, to the communal life, to the breaking of bread and to the prayers. Our Catholic Mass has originated from this, with readings from the Bible in place of the - long dead - Apostles' teachings
At the name of Jesus every knee should bend - Philippians 2:10-11, Romans 14:11, Isaiah 45:23.
Luke 22:41 = Jesus withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42. Thus Catholic churches have kneelers, Protestant churches do not.
Most importantly, John 21:25 declares that Jesus did a world of - Works. This is the most awesome statement on Works, and as Christians, we are called to be like Jesus and do likewise.. Protestants who deny the need for works are certainly not Followers of Christ.
Lastly, Check Luke 12:48 whereby Jesus will demand = More = from Christians to whom much has been entrusted.
      The purpose of Faith =
      ===========================
“Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” = Luke 17:19.
Jesus, in His healing miracles, attributed Faith as the catalyst that made healing possible.
Thus Faith is necessary on earth especially in times of difficulties, doubts and persecutions.

So if 5 to 10 are the Few of every 100 that make it to Heaven, whereas there are 20, 30 or 40 - the Many who go to Hell - where are the remaining? Obviously, in Purgatory.
Question = Can you give even 1 example of a person who was saved by Jesus' intercession ?
      2 Practical examples to examine
FIRST = Let us examine the - Other - thief on the cross who was not promised paradise. Of all the people in the Bible, this unfortunate person was the most "lost." He was on his death-bed and was even then mocking the author of Life and only Saviour, Jesus who had previously declared =Luke 19:10 : “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost." So here was the most-desperate and prime candidate who required - Grace - the unmerited favour for salvation. Did Jesus save him and promise paradise????
(( NOTE = Catholics have a saying whereby we believe that God created us without our cooperation/aid, but will
= not = save us without our cooperation and aid = that is without confession and Holy Communion.))
Scenario = A ( Christian ) person rages over ( pagan ) driver damaging his brand new car that he charges into him with all his might that the helpless person falls down badly, severely damaging his back and rendering him an invalid and bed-ridden for the rest of his life.
Question - For whom is Jesus interceding with the Father for = the Christian - or - the pagan ??2nd Question - Does Jesus intercede for sinners/perpetrators/ Nine-Eleven Terrorists - or - their victims ??
SECOND = During World War 2, a Holocaust survivor, heard a young Jewish Rabbi who was being led to death loudly declare = There is no God.
Both Hitler and Stalin were baptized. Yet they were two of the greatest mass-murderers of all time, not even sparing Rabbis
Question - Do you believe that one day both Hitler and Stalin will be enjoying Heavenly bliss if Jesus has made propitiation for their sins ??
NOTE = In my dealings with other Protestants, I have noted that they are quick with " theoretical " verses from the Bible. However, we are urged to = test = all spirits. True Doctrine can = only = arise after examining how God worked in the lives of people. Take for example, the couple Ananias and Sapphira from the 1st = Faith = Christian community, who were "executed" by God for just dishonesty and lying, and this only a short time - after - Jesus' Heavenly ascent- Acts 5. What happened to Jesus' intercession. ??
Protestants also believe that Jesus' Blood wiped away all past, present and future sins. If this was the case, how come Sodom and Gomorrah have not been restored ? And God can see the past, present and future all at once because He is outside time. So why did God permit the 70 year Babylonian exile, if Jesus was going to pay their sin debt ? Or the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD?
And if I rob you of your house and property, will God welcome me into Heaven as - Good and Faithful servant - and proceed to give me the best mansion there ?

@@loboman8029 that's the thing though with this infused righteousness by faith because it leads you into the error that by performing all of the sacraments it is thus saving me from the sin that I have in my life. Why do you think that Roman Catholicism has so many festivals? I think it leads its credence into the fact that they believe in original sin and the total depravity of man rather than seeing that through Adam we have a weakened physiology. This is the problem with most western theology that has come about through the augustinian doctrine of original sin and all the fallout that has come with it such as satisfaction theory of Christ's redemptive work as well as the penal substitutionary varying theory of that redemptive work.
You do realize that Augustine himself was not able to read Hebrew or Greek and therefore when he read the Bible in Latin the word concupiscence has a much darker meaning than what is often taught in Eastern Orthodox circles.
Also the idea that sin is a debt came from the Anselmian construct that the wrong committed was an equal measure to the offended status of the sovereign; this belief then makes papists and Protestants anthropomorphize God.

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” This idea that we are made one with Christ through baptism is reiterated by Paul in Colossians 2:12, and in Galatians 3:27 he likens baptism to “being clothed with Christ.”
Baptism is the beginning of an intimate relationship with God, but of course God can save us through Baptism of desire (thief on the cross) or Baptism through martyrdom.
      2) of course we are saved by the Church. Jesus is the Church. There is no salvation outside of Jesus.
"And he is the head of the body, the Church [ἐκκλησίας] (Colossians 1:18)."
"I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church [ἐκκλησία] (Colossians 1:24)."
"And I tell you that you are Peter; and on this rock I will build my church [ἐκκλησίαν] (Matthew 16:18)."

Please find a Traditional Catholic Church near you. Preferably an Sspx chapel where you will learn the true teachings of The Church. Be careful of getting yourself confused by Protestant teachings. Remember for the first 3 to 4 hundred years there was no Christian Bible. It was The Catholics who decided which books were to go into the New Testament. Everything was taught by word of mouth. Once the New Testament was decided upon, there were only a few hand copied Bibles available. It was the priests and monasteries that kept these books and perhaps some of the very wealthy who owned bibles. Very few people could read and write and it was only when the printing press came into being that bibles became more available. Then Martin Luther came onto the scene and removed several books which didn't agree with his new doctrines. Since then there have been many, many interpretations to the bible, subtly changing the original teachings. Do yourself a favor. Order "Where we got The Bible" written by RT. Rev. Henry G. Graham published by TAN books. ISBN 978-0-89555-796-4. Do not believe all the lies that the Protestants spew out. Jesus only started One Church. How many Christian churches are there today? Over 40 000. They all teach something different! They cannot all be right. The Catholic Church is going through a terrible time presently but Christ assured us that Satan would never prevail. That is why I tell you to seek out a Tradition Catholic Church where you will be taught the true teachings passed from Jesus, to Peter and down from every Pope until Pope Pius Xll, after which we had the Second Vatican Council which has subtly tried to change church teaching, without anyone noticing, thus leading The Catholic Church into Apostacy. Since then the enemy has gained power over the hierarchy. Our Lady of Fatima assured us that Her Immaculate Heart would Triumph in the end. The Virgin Mary always leads you to her son. She is never worshiped, but honoured. At Fatima The Virgin said " That God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart." To prove that the Apparitions of Fatima were real, God performed a miracle of Biblical proportions. On the 13 October, 1917, 70000 people witnessed the Sun leaving its orbit. It gyrated made circles in the sky, gave off many different colours, it plummeted to the earth. It did things that only God could do. Satan does not have the power to change the laws of Nature. Only God has those powers. God wants us to honour Jesus's mother.
God bless and go back to your faith. (The precious pearl.) There is no other way for you to save your soul. You need the 7 sacraments, you need Christs Church. You cannot save your soul alone.

I think one of the main hang-ups with Catholics is they get way too tribalistic when it comes to the Catholic church. It's kinda like rabid sports fans that will defend "their" team and act as if "their" team is the best there is, even if they lose every game they play.
One of the biggest red flags is when they claim that the Catholic church is "the one true church". The church is not what's important. Jesus Christ and His teaching are what's important. The church of Jesus Christ is not a physical one of goliath worldly riches and power. It's a church of the spirit, uniting all believers.

I want to try to clear up the idea of "works." Of course, St. James said that faith without works is dead. What this means is that your good works are REFLECTION of your salvation, not the CAUSE of it. So, are good works important? You bet they are. We are known by the fruits we produce. A good tree produces good fruits. But to be clear, as a Catholic, I know our good works alone will not redeem us. Now, go spend your time spreading the Gospel, doing good works, and not running down your fellow Christians. God go with you.

In my language there's the idea of "good deeds" - I was wondering if it was the same as "works". From the quote of St. James, probably so. The confusion of are "works" needed for salvation might come because simply doing good deeds won't make you believe Christ, but if you believe in Christ, you should feel the urge to do good deeds. If one says, they believe in Christ, and do no "works", because the faith is all they need for salvation - it's a good spot for them to look inside themselfs ang ask if they reeeealy believe.
And as a confirmation for St. Jacobs words, there's also Matthew 25:31-46
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

@@fogstreet108 As Catholics, we do agree that the Word of God is indeed the truth. However, people have their own interpretations of the Word of God, and as such have contradicting views. You need to know what Jesus and the Apostles meant by what they said in the Bible, then you'll see what the truth is in the Word of God. It's no efficient enough learning the Word of God by yourself. Jesus appointed people to carry on His teaching, and these people themselves appointed other people to pass on the teachings/traditions that they've taught. Find that truth that is passed down from generation to generation, then you can truly say that the Word of God is indeed always right. Because we know for sure that these apostles are indeed born of God, and trusted people to pass down the teachings, which would also mean they are born of God who understand the things of God. @@fogstreet108 Well if you say that you are, then please use it wisely and evangelize right. Teach others about who Jesus is, but don't condemn or mock the Church that Jesus established (and I can rightfully say that so), especially when you perceive it with numerous misconceptions.
As you quote Ephesians, indeed everyone are included in this priesthood. If we are truly Christian, we are indeed in this priesthood. Evangelize for unity, not division. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. Don't mock the Church that does that (not even giving an example, even just one, which makes your statement foolish and nonsensical), evangelization, unity, charity, and faith in Jesus Christ. It's indeed God's grace that gave us these gifts. It's not primarily our faith that gave us these gifts, but rather God's grace. However, there is also a physical church that holds the real deposit of faith that Jesus and the Apostles left for the world. The Bible isn't the only deposit of faith, nor is it the sole protector of truth. The protector of truth is the "organization" that you are talking about.
Instead of mocking us with misconceptions, or belittling us, focus more on yourself and how you, a Christian, can spread the Gospel through faith, hope, and charity. Clearly, everyone of us, including you, need much learning and prayers. I'll be praying for you, as I hope you pray for me too.

L Footie So you believe in what Calvin taught which is basically that some people go to heaven and others go to hell and are predestined before they are even born. Because if it is by God’s doing alone there is nothing humans can do to get to heaven. So whether they believe in Jesus and never do anything else the rest of their lives that is it a ticket to heaven. So no matter how bad or good you are it will not effect your salvation and that nature and grace do not work together. Because if they do not work together this is basically saying that every thing both good and bad is ultimately in God’s hands even your ability to believe. So this means that free will on the human side is null and void. But Calvinism says this very thing by it’s theology nature and grace do not work together because everything depends on God and nothing on the human side. So there is no free will.

FaithHopeGrace The Catholic Churches official teachings say there is a hell. As we both know there are certain clergy that do not always abide by the teachings of their denominations. Just know that as a child of God I am bound by two great commandments that Christ taught love God with your whole heart and soul and love your neighbor as yourself. This Jesus says it what is necessary. As a sister in Christ I do not really wish to quibble with fellow Christian. My main concern is to get the truth out there on what Catholicism really teaches not the false innuendos put out by non Catholics who do not know the teachings of the church that is my main point. One for instance is we do not worship saints it is forbidden. We are forbidden to worship Mary because worship is due to God alone, we honor the mother of Jesus but not worship. So many people get it wrong. If you want to really know the official stance on the Catholic Church please read an official Cathechism of the Church. This will clarify any misconceptions there are in the teachings. Just as some Protestants do infant baptism others do not. I do not lump all Protestants into the same group. Yes there are married Catholic priests the western rite does not allow it but the Eastern rite does. Just a small example of one of the misconceptions among many others. This passage deals with the apostolic office. Parallel passages in Matthew suggest the same thing (Mt 16:19; 18:18). This was a special function the apostles had between the resurrection and ascension of Christ.
23 If you forgive the sins of any [of any class],
Jesus did not give the apostles the inherent right to forgive sins but the privilege to convey the message of forgiveness. Ministers of the gospel cannot forgive sins but simply proclaim how sins are forgiven.
The word “any” indicates that the sins forgiven are forgiven to a class of people, not to individuals (Lu 24:46-48).
      they [the sins] are forgiven them;
The words “are forgiven” indicate that this is an event that had already taken place by God (passive voice). The apostles could proclaim sins previously forgiven.
if you retain the sins of any, they [the sins] are retained.”
The words “are retained” indicate that this is an event that had already taken place by God (passive voice, perfect tense). Sins previously committed have been retained.
Both “forgiven” and “retained” are in the passive voice in the Greek, which means that it is God who forgives and retains. God alone forgives sin (Mk 2:3-12; Lu 5:17-26). The Greek tenses (periphrastic future perfects) indicate that forgiveness was already resolved by the death of Christ on the cross. The right of the apostles to forgive or retain depends on the previous forgiveness by God. All that remains is to proclaim that Christ paid for our sins. We could translate the phrases this way: “Those sins you forgive have already been forgiven…those sins you do not forgive have not been forgiven.” In other words, forgiveness is dependent on God’s forgiveness.
The issue of forgiveness and retention of sins is related to the binding and loosing of Matthew 16:18; 18:18.

Unlike Protestants, Catholics don’t believe that the Word is the sole guide and authority of God. They believe in their own authority (the RCC’s authority). They think that there are teachings that Jesus did not fully clarify in the Bible and that Him giving the authority to Peter means that they can add onto the gospel as they wish. We need a different approach when speaking to Catholics about where their faith lies, just quoting scripture may not cut it. Their allegiance is with the Catholic Church, the pope, the sacraments, the saints, not Christ alone and His Word, which He became as stated in John 1:1.
And this is where the Holy Spirit comes in!! John 16:13 says “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard.” The Holy Spirit is the most misunderstood person of the Trinity. God says His Spirit will guide us into all truth. This happens in the secret place, in dwelling with His Spirit, through praying without ceasing. Not through some pope making up the rules. The Spirit guides us through uncharted territories based on what He has heard from the Father.

    • @walkingeverywhere4k831
      @walkingeverywhere4k831 2 роки тому +1

Faith alone justifies, but only the kind of faith that inevitably produces good works. Such good works aren’t the BASIS of justification; indeed, they CAN'T be, for ONE sin makes you a lawbreaker (Jas. 2:10-11). Good works can’t function as the foundation of our justification because God demands PERFECTION, and even after we are converted we continue to sin.
James, in fact, says this very thing in the next passage after discussing justification by works: “We all stumble in MANY ways” (3:2). The word “stumble” means “sin,” as the parallel text in James 2:10 shows. Every one of us without exception-including James (“we all”)-continue to sin.
Is he saying we sin only occasionally? Absolutely not. He says we all sin “in many ways.” We don’t just sin in a few ways, but in MANY. Since sin continues to characterize the lives of believers in remarkable ways, and since God demands PERFECTION, works that justify CAN'T form theBASIS of our justification.
Certainly good works are necessary, for without them we will not be justified, but we have seen that they aren’t the necessary basis or foundation.
The best solution is to say they are the RESULT and fruit of faith. True faith expresses it in works. Paul actually says the same thing, teaching what ultimately matters is “faith expressing itself through love” (Gal. 5:6, NIV).
The concept isn’t hard to understand. If I said the room you were in was about to blow up in one minute, and you believed me, desired to live, and were physically able to leave, you'd hurry to exit. True faith would lead to works! Leaving the room would be the result of your faith. So it’s right to say, as the Reformers did, that we are justified by faith alone, but that true faith is never alone. I would suggest James is teaching this very idea.
It isn’t as if our works save or justify in the sense that they QUALIFY us to enter God’s presence-as if our virtue wins us God’s favor on the last day. James teaches that there is an organic relationship between genuine faith and works. If we truly trust Christ, that trust shows up in how we live. Works evidence our faith.

    • @davegibbs6423
      @davegibbs6423 2 роки тому

@@walkingeverywhere4k831 You're very close. Yes, works follow faith. What justifies is what we believe on. The content of faith is the Lord Jesus and His work.
Saving faith has three components (Faith Alone is many times misinterpreted as mere assent) - True Knowledge, Assent, and Trust. The trusting bit is holding on to Christ. He alone gives us confidence. We can have none in ourselves.
Justification and Sanctification are separate in that only Christ justifies, but sanctification is where we work out that faith. It is the school of Christ, but only the Lord can justify us.
      Thank you.

Unfortunately, Catholicism promotes a FALSE GOSPEL!!!!
This is the Gospel of the REAL JESUS:
Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day. He shed His blood on the cross for you. Your part is to Repent of your sins and Trust in Him. BUT, you MUST Trust in the right Jesus! Otherwise you haven't Truly Repented! Are you trusting in the Jesus of the Bible? If not, then you are still in your sins! You are STILL GUILTY of IDOLATRY!! And, in this situation, you will be cast in the LAKE OF FIRE, for ALL ETERNITY!!! Repent of ALL your sins and Trust in the RIGHT Jesus today and God will save you. He will grant you eternal life, not because you earned it, deserve it or because you are a good person, but because He wants to give you eternal life as a FREE GIFT!!! Accept it today!!! Tomorrow maybe too late!!

Esp the Calvinists. . . . Jesus commands us to keep his commandments. What is bizarre is that they hamstring the conversation by talking about works and faith as though they are two separate things. That would make faith dead. Living faith, which is what faith is supposed to be, is faith that has works. Like a body has breath making it living. They reduce faith to an abstract idea. They say accept Christ but can't describe what it means to accept. They are incoherent. . . Straw man is right. As to what you said about graces.... they treat graces as though they were burdens. Graces were how the Christian faith was spread during the early centuries. There were no Gideon Bible people distributing Bibles throughout the lands. Even a reasoning person with no religious belief can see this merely by a study of history. Cause must precede effect. Not the other way around. The Bible came through the church.

@Blue Butteryfly Cannibalism seems to have been a common practice among most per-historic cultures (and some more recent) and was later replaced with animal sacrifice and then bare ritual.
One anthropological perspective on this practice is that it reflected a common, and perhaps universal, aspect of human consciousness. It was, apart from any value judgments, a manifest display of shared awareness both of consumption and dependence.
This kernel of truth of a shared consciousness is overshadowed by the cruel and unhealthy physical practice which has been universally, and justly, abandoned in modern times. Thus we easily loose touch with that ancient insight from our current perspective. We have, as they say, thrown out the baby and the bath water altogether.
The Catholic Mass, aside from its many theological complexities, is at minimum an un-bloody ritualized recognition of this shared consciousness that our very existence is a perpetual act of consumption and that we are dependent upon all that has gone before us.

    • @andrewferg8737
      @andrewferg8737 3 роки тому +1

@Blue Butteryfly It seems there is a fundamental disconnect in understanding the term sacrifice. Christianity at its most fundamental level makes a visceral and startling claim about the nature of reality: that God became a real flesh and bones human being. This reality extends into all aspects of the Christian faith; which demands that faith must real and tangible and not vain hypocrisy, that love must be in deed and not word only---- and that we consume in deed and not only symbolically the divine life of Christ, the Word made flesh. Sacrifice without substance is vanity and hypocrisy, this is true of our small personal sacrifices and is true of God's ultimate sacrifice. Does Christ feel pain?... indeed Christ is crucified every day.

    • @andrewferg8737
      @andrewferg8737 3 роки тому +1

@Blue Butteryfly Do you not consume God at every instant by your very existence?
It is our sin which makes that consumption bloody and painful. God continually pours forth His very life even to us, His fallen and rebellious children. But it is Man that invented crucifixion.

Biblical fact of the day- At the beginning of the Protestant uprising circa 1520, Martin Luther did not like the construction of Romans 3:28 as it was originally written, eg “for man is justified by faith apart from the ‘works of the law’ “ So he simply added the word “alone” after the word faith So the passage would read “man is saved by faith ALONE apart from the ‘works of the law’ “ As confirmed recently by the Dead Sea Scrolls, the works of the law refers to Jewish customs such as cleansing rituals, circumcision, etc. They clearly do not refer to the keeping of the 10 Commandments, etc by which every Christian remains bound. That is to say we are bound to produce good works and to produce good fruit. Cf Matt 25, in fact we will be judged by our works as concurred by the book of James.
So the revolution launched by Luther and Calvin now developed a new novel teaching, known as “justification by faith ALONE”, which was sadly a false Rewriting of holy Scriptures. When questioned by others as to why Luther would change the Bible to justify his novel doctrine, he said, “because Dr. Luther says it is so”.

27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? If you read the Bible you will understand....of course we are given grace, we don't earn it but Jesus left us with plenty of work to do and if we are to call ourselves Christian that work is EXPECTED of us not once in awhile when we have some free time, not on Sundays or around the Holidays but everyday, all the time and yes by doing these things we make God happy. It takes work...lots of work. Constantly having to turn your focus back to God. Whew... that's a lot of work. That's what us Catholics mean by grace with works. If you think you don't have to work at it then you are probably not working at it. Things such as repent...turn your life around to focus on Jesus, work to spread his word and win the hearts and minds of others, if someone mocks your faith be glad, turn the other cheek, forgive those who have wronged you, give to the needy, be friendly with the outcast, don't store up treasures on Earth, humble yourself, stay married, don't judge, keep his commandments, don't lie, confess your sins outloud (you think that is easy...we are taught God knows everything, if there is someone wrong you have done but you can't bring yourself to admit it then it festers in your soul bringing about a decay. That is really hard work.

The word Catholic means universal. The early use of the word does not refer to what we know today as the Roman Catholic Church. The universality of Christianity was especially emphasized first by Jesus and later by both Paul and Peter. The Roman Empire legally recognized Pauline Christianity as a valid religion in 313 AD. Later in that century, in 380 AD, Roman Catholicism became the official religion of the Roman Empire. For many years, Catholics were the only people officially recognized as Christians, yet all along there were independent Christian movements. Two movements that became significant were Eastern Orthodoxy and the Protestant reform movement.

    • @userca_
      @userca_ 5 місяців тому +14

Actually, the first known usage of the word to describe Christianity is this, from St. Ignatius of Antioch in AD108 : "Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church."
      Later on he writes:
"In like manner, let us reverence the deacons as Jesus Christ, and the bishop as the Father, and the presbyters as the Sanhedrin of God and college of the apostles. Without these, there is no Church."
      2 things to notice:
      1. The way you can find the Catholic Church is by looking for the bishop (i.e. it is a visible organization, not just a "spiritual union")
      2. This Catholic Church also has priests (and therefore has sacrifice).
      3. Jesus Christ is found only in the Catholic Church and therefore is found only where the bishop is.
      4. If you remove this leadership structure (bishop, priest, deacon), you are getting rid of the Catholic Church itself.
The literal translation does mean universal, but from Day 1 it has been applied to a specific church with specific leadership. Does it sound like Ignatius is describing your church? If not, might be an issue. . .

The canon of the New Testament was only compiled in the 4th century. Before that if there were any matters that needed to be settled, Christians went to the Church (Catholic Church as Protestant Christianity only started 1500 years later).
Even after the canon was determined, the bible wasn't available for your average Christian until the invention of the printing press in 1440AD.
So for the first 1400 years of Christianity, Christians looked to the Catholic Church to teach them about all issues pertaining to faith.

That what Christ died and shed his blood for to cover our sins . 1 the original sin . 2 the sins we commit today 1 John 1 : 7 If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with the other the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanse us from sin . Verse 8 if we say we have no sin we deceive our self and the truth is not in us . Verse 9 if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness .verse 10 If we say we have not sinned we make him a liar and his word is not in us . now in verse 7 . if we walk in the light , to walk in the light means the present of God brings the Consciousness of sin in our life and the Blood of Christ makes provision for both . To walk in the light is living in Fellowship with the Father and the son . when we sin we interrupt that fellowship and when we confess our sin Fellowship is restored . and any one that says they can keep on sinning is not saved in the first place . I have never seen any one that is saved and lives by faith in Christ and walks by faith live like a sinner . and don`t tell me I support some one sinning . when a Christian sins they ask God to forgive them that is what the scriptures say to do . what did you do for salvation ? did you confess To God and ask him to forgive you . and when you sin in your every day living does the indwelling spirit convict you , and did you in the name of Christ ask God to forgive you . that is the only way because Christ sacrificed him self one time . and set down at the right hand of God to make intercession for us His blood is at the throne to cover our sins . so we can stand righteous in the presence of God . So before you comment about something know what you are talking about instead of what you here

I am sorry you believe humans have the power to forgive sins. You also might have a misunderstanding of the BIble teaching. 'ONLY GOD CAN FORGIVE SIN'. Jesus never says He has the power to forgive Sin. Jesus OVERCAME sin and death, so that we can be forgiven of our sins by God through the life and death of Jesus Christ. If Jesus never said that He Himself forgave Sin directly, why would you assume in John 20:23 that Jesus is passing on that power to humans? I Peter says this in Acts 10 “Everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Read John 20:21-22. Jesus tells us that He is sending the Apostles just like God the Father Sent Him. To do what? To share the Great News so that those that believe in Jesus, will have their sins forgiven by God. Jesus also warns that those that do not receive the good news, their sins would not be forgiven. The Apostles did not have the 'power' to forgive sin. They did have the power in the Holy Spirit to spread the Word of God, the Gospel of Jesus, so through Jesus, people can be forgiven of their Sin. The power in that is in Jesus, not in humans.
That is really crazy that you have the entire Gospel and New Testament, and you are 'not aware' of him providing any other 'normal way' to have ones' sins forgiven after His ascension to Heaven. Please go to the Word of God. Here is Jesus Himself speaking on how people can get their sins Forgiven.
There are so many verses here and more than happy to unpack if you have specific follow ups. But here is one below, that makes it clear, God is the one who has the power to Forgive, and through Jesus, people can be forgiven of their sins,
Colossians 2:13-14 13 aAnd you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God bmade alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by ccanceling dthe record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. @mikewinger Just so we’re all clear on the history, the (Orthodox) Catholic Church pre-dates the Bible. Christianity doesn’t come from the Bible - it’s the other way around: the Church came first, and those within the Church wrote some of the Church’s teaching and history down, and it took almost 400 years before everyone came to a general agreement on what the NT canon was. So there are many fully-Christian beliefs and practices which were taught by Christ to the Apostles, which appear nowhere in Scripture, and yet the Church had them before they had a NT. (How to conduct a worship service, for example, is found nowhere in Scripture. But we know from Acts that the early Church met every Sunday to break bread [aka, Eucharistic liturgy].)

There is no such thing as "sola scripture" in the Bible as it was not compiled during the apostles' time. We canonized your Bible in 382 (Council of Rome). Early Christians believe in sacred traditions as well. Paul even said this:

You obviously think that traditions can be contrary to what was spoken. You are wrong. If you actually studied the Bible you would see it compliments itself. Traditions are fine as long as that fall within the context of the Bible both old and new. The Catholic Church has changed meanings or added to scriptures. They have also omitted parts of it to suit their beliefs. Then they tell you that you can not understand what God's word says and that you need the CC for that understanding. This is exactly what cults do to their members to control them.
Sola Scriptura is not in the Bible? That is exactly what Jesus used.
Sola Scriptura is not in the Bible. This is the tactic of the Devil to keep you from understanding God's word. You no doubt will throw the 40,000 denominations at me, and to some degree, I will agree. However, not all of those 40,000 denominations are wrong. Scriptures tells us to use discernment and it is that discernment (God's word) that shows what churches are in error. You are told not to use discernment but only do what you're told. So you do not do what the scriptures tell you to do.
Do all parishes teach the same thing? NO they do not! So you have 40,000 parishes doing the same thing you accuse protestant churches of doing.

You’re presenting yourself as a biblical scholar without any nod to Protestant theologians who have spent combined lifetimes studying the notion of the REAL PRESENCE of Jesus Christ. I’m a follower of Jesus Christ and not a theologian. Obviously- however; I believe brother, you may be missing the point on Transubstantiation.
You tend to lead the conversation with words like “I could go on an on for a ridiculous amount of time... “ which is a bit “squirly “ on your part. “Sanctification is an ongoing process.” You say. Study Sanctification- I’ve studied too and what it seems like you do is state a premise , and then search for evidence.
You’re presuming your words are edifying. They are not on point. I’ve practiced Catholicism my whole life, and your discussion of how Catholics behave is off-base and absolutely not generalized truths. Your also minimizing sin. “Maybe the sin is JUST lust... “.
Christ IS the only ARK of salvation. Pope Jon Paul II was the Pope most of you life, not Paul VI. You’re off on you’re history and quotes.
Anamnesis ("remembrance") has sacrificial overtones. It occurs only eight times in the NT and the Greek OT. All but once (Wisdom 16:6) it is in a sacrificial context (Hebrews 10:3, Leviticus 24:7, Numbers 10:10 and Psalm 38 [39] and 70 [70]). In these cases the term anamnesis can be translated as "memorial portion," "memorial offering," or "memorial sacrifice." Thus in the remaining two occurrences of anamnesis (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:24),
Christ’s words "Do this in remembrance of Me," can be translated as "Offer this for my memorial sacrifice." Given the sacrificial character of the Eucharist, there is little doubt this translation is appropriate.
the Last Supper was a sacrifice. Furthermore, Jesus tells the Apostles to do what he did in memory (anamnesis) of him. In Scripture, the only other time when anamnesis is used, besides the Last Supper narratives in the synoptic Gospels and in First Corinthians, is in the sacrificial context of Hebrews 10:3 :
'But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance (anamnesis) again made of sins every year.'
In addition to the Greek New Testament, the Greek Septuagint translation of the Hebrew Old Testament likewise uses the term anamnesis in Leviticus 24:7 and Numbers 10:10, where it is connected to sacrificial offerings. Based on the present tense context of the sacrificial language that Jesus used and the sacrificial usage of anamnesis, the Last Supper demonstrates to be sacrificial in nature. Since the essence of the Mass is identical with that of the Last Supper, the Mass is consequently a sacrifice.
A clue may be found in exploring the connection between liturgical signs and realities the way the Hebrews and the early Christians (as well as the Catholic Church today) understood it -- certain unique signs make present the very realities they signify. In other words, the unique sign of the Last Supper truly brings the reality of the sacrifice of the Cross to Christians in the present here-and-now.
J.N.D. Kelly, the Protestant patristic scholar and church historian, in his book Early Christian Doctrines comes to the same conclusion:
According to ancient modes of thought a mysterious relationship existed between the thing symbolized and its symbol, figure or type; the symbol in some sense was the thing symbolized.

Thanks for your post Veritas. I totally agree. Mike Winger is probably a very nice person and possibly a good pastor, but he is simply regurgitating untruths about Catholicism that have been passed down from generation to generation in the Protestant (a minority) community. It is extremely difficult to shift except by a work of the Holy Spirit who is the only one who can change hearts and bring the Truth to us.
If you decide you are going to dig up dirt on any person, organisation, business or Church then you will be successful because it will be there. Especially if you take archaic documents and take pieces out of context then you can paint a very dark picture about anyone or anything. No matter how much I have insisted that what is being said is so far from what Catholics actually believe, the more entrenched some people become: Their pastors could not possibly be wrong! Their parents could not possibly be wrong! Well, I'm sorry but they have been for 500 years! A massive advantage for critics of the Church is that there are 10s of thousands of documents that can be waded through to find the negative, and yes, the Catholic Church records the most negative as well as the most positive events in our history because we try to learn from them. This is not true for any Protestant Church that I am aware of. Very few have documents that are published week after week to help the faithful. None or very few have an incredibly comprehensive catechism that can be researched, fed from or torn apart if so inclined. The cards are stacked but the Church is up to the challenge. Because of God's promises it is unshakeable, solid, truth-filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the gospel "in season and out of season" for as long as it takes us to be consumed into Heaven. Amen!
That is not to say that all people in the Church have been perfect; far from it- even popes have sinned seriously in the past. But every single person in every church is a sinner and may sin at any moment - this should not be a shock! That's why Jesus came; "To save sinners not the righteous." So, sinners sin and Jesus forgives and redeems -Christianity 101.

    1. WORKS =/= SACRAMENTS
    2. No one “earns grace piece by piece” We are not a Casino.
    3. Works are a result of our faith. Our works are a reflection of our faith. Works are spreading the gospel, helping others, giving alms, lifting burdens of othersc showing compassion, treating each other with respect, leading others towards Christ, building homes, giving food. We don’t do that to earn points, we do that because we love God, we are DOING OUR JOB.
Also, Sacraments are the structure of our lives as Catholic Christians, the sacraments begin in our state as babes, continue throughout our lives, and end in our time of death.
There are 7 sacraments: BAPTISM as babes, as we are washed from the taint of the original sin in Jesus Name, CONFIRMATION as youths, as we better understand Christ in matured adolescence (usually 14-16 years old), EUCHARIST daily/weekly as we remember the sacrifice Jesus gave for us and partake of his blood and body, as HE says “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the Last Day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.” We plead God to bless us with that which he has ordered us to partake of. PENANCE AND RECONCILIATION Jesus commanded his disciples to carry on what he had left for them, and told them that “as the Father sent Me, even so I send you” so that the his apostles can continue what he has done, for God ordained them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained” The priest only does as He commanded them to do, to be in the presence of Christ with the supposèd, who not only wishes to free himself of the burden of lingering sin but to find reconnection and true repentance through the help of the priest. MARRIAGE self explanatory, man/woman under the house of God publicly declaring their love for Christ their devotion to Him and devotion to one another ANOINTING THE SICK we seek medicine of the world to cure most of our illnesses, but on top of scientific medicine we also require healing of the soul and expulsion of evil. We are not alone in their world and the devil works his way, as he worked his way in the Garden. Through our devotion we seek the guidance and help of God in our dire times when we are faced with illness, be it benign or grave. If it is His will for us to perish on Earth, so be it; if it is His will that we push for longevity, so be it. HOLY ORDERS those that have a calling to dedicate to themselves to the Church Christ established and bestowed to St. Peter have that option either men as Deacons, Priests, Bishops, Cardinals and Popes and women as Nuns and Abesses. They put their whole life to establishing and maintaining and follow the footsteps of those before us so provided every single second of their life to Christ.

“Purgatory" is the name that Catholics give to the final purification which occurs at the end of life. Because we still sin in this life, but will not be sinning when we are in glory, between death and glorification must come purification.
Explicitly, we not only have the witness of passages such as 2 Maccabees 12, but also the witness of passages describing our accounting before Christ in the particular judgment, including the especially vivid depiction of one escaping through the flames in 1 Corinthians 3:11-15.
Jesus himself adds to this when he speaks in Matthew 12:32 of a sin which will neither be forgiven in this age nor the age to come, implying that some sins (venial ones of which we have not repented before death) will be (future) forgiven .
Furthermore, in Matthew 5:25-26, Jesus tells us: “Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny.”
In this parable God is the Judge, and if we have not reconciled with our neighbors before we see God, God will hold us accountable for the wrong we did to them. This is what the Bible means when it says that God will take our revenge for us, so we should not take it ourselves, because God will defend the cause of the poor and uphold the case of the widow. Whenever a poor person or widow (or anyone else) is oppressed or wronged, God will hold the oppressor accountable for what he did - unless the wronged person freely chooses to forgive the offender. In that case, God will not hold the offender accountable for the wrong he did on a human level (i.e., against the human he wronged), but unless he has obtained forgiveness from God for the wrong he did against God, he will still be held accountable for that.
Thus in our sins against others they are two dimensions - the human, by which we sin against our neighbor in the act, and the divine, by which we sin against God in the act. Thus theft is a sin against our neighbor from whom we stole and a sin against God, whose law we broke. We must obtain forgiveness from God for the divine aspect of our sin, but, as Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:25-26, we must obtain forgiveness for the human aspect of our sin from the human we sinned against. If we do not, God will hold us accountable.
Of course, since humans are finite beings, our sins against them can only merit finite punishment (compared to our sins against God, who is an infinite being, so our sins against him can merit infinite punishment). Because this punishment is finite, it must be temporary (for an eternal punishment is infinite since involves the reception of pain over an infinite period of time). But if this punishment we will receive when we are judged by God (according to Jesus’ parable) is temporary, then it’s purgatory. Thus Jesus says, “You will not get out until you have paid the last penny,” because there is a time when your finite punishment due to the finite, human dimension of your sins will be over.
In any event, more than enough has been said to show the inaccuracy of the charge that purgatory is an unbiblical doctrine. In reality, it is very firmly rooted in Scripture." Jimmy Akin Former Protestant " "How to explain Purgatory to Protestants"

2 Maccabees 12: 1 - 45 : Apocryphal Book in all Bibles but has been removed in 19th Century from many/most Protestant versions especially KJV. So, I'll refer to the text that was once contained in the KJV.
Basically, the Maccabees - Judas - retaliated against the Arabs ( Jamnites of Jamnia ) for their violations against the Jewish Covenants and a decree to remove the remaining Jews from Joppa via boats. Judas retaliates and burns the boats. Well battles ensue and the Maccabees are victorious. Many people die. This happened just prior to the Feast of Weeks & Pentecost. In verses 42 - 45, Judas prays for the sin of those slain; sent money to Jerusalem as a sin offering being mindful of the Resurrection; slain will raise from the dead, but it may be " superfluous ( beyond what is required ) and a vain prayer for the dead ". V.45 : " ….favor for those ….dies godly,...good and holy thought....reconciliation for the dead....deliverance from sin.
1 Cor. 3:11 - 15 : Foundation is Jesus Christ, any man builds upon this with wealth.... fire will try every man's work, work abide....receive reward, work burned....suffer loss.... he shall be saved.
Matt. 12:32 : Speak word against Son of man-be forgiven: speak against Holy Spirit-not forgiven, " neither in this world, neither in the world to come".
Matt. 5: 25,26 : " Agree with thine adversary quickly,....; least ….adversary deliver thee to judge,....to the officer,...into prison. Verily I Say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing ( 1/64 of a day's work )." - Jesus Christ.

@@benjaminrush4443 , thank you very much for your kind answer.
. I am a Scripture reader, too. I do not think or believe Protestantism have convinced me that Luther's SOLA Fide is Biblical. I mean "faith alone" (before or apart the love of God, charity) is nothing as Paul teaches:" and though I have ALL FAITH, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
I don't think or believe that Luther's gospel is the same as Jesus' Gospel: "Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little" Lk 7:47; " love covers over a multitude of sins" 1 Pe. 4:8.; "love covereth all sins" Prov. 10:12 For the Early Church Fathers any justification that is not woven together with sanctification is not justification at all. According to Protestant Gospel we are first justified by faith alone (mere declaration without receiving charity), then we are sanctified.
Paul says: "If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha." 1 Cor. 16:22
Paul says: "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." 1 Cor. 13:13
Paul says: "And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Paul says: "For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love." Gal. 5:6
But Protestantism teaches "faith alone (apart or before charity) justifies, saves.
Luther and Calvin rejected the Catholic doctrine of purgatory not because they made a thorough study of scriptural eschatology and found it missing, but because "purgatory" (final sanctification of the elect) clearly contradicted the doctrine of justification that they had "discovered" in the Bible. Protestants tipically believe that every Christian is united with Christ immediately after death and therefore, and therefore we will have no need for purification. The repentant thief on the cross died together with Christ, paid the uttermost farthing (1/64 of a day's work )." - Jesus Christ. (Matt. 5: 25,26) "Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss." Lc. 23:41. The former thief as every believer " was purged from his old sins" (2 Peter 1:9) and became servant of obedience unto righteusmness ( "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" Rom. 6:16). The FORMER sinner received a crown of righteousness because he loved His appearing as Paul:"there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. " 2 Tim. 4:8. The whole Bible refutes Luther's gospel. The only passage in the New Testament that contains the phrase "FAITH ALONE" (Greek , pisteos monon) is James 2:24: "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.". Protestant Bible scholar, Scot McKnight says: "No matter how hard we Protestants might try to work this out, the botton line for James is having works" . Definitely, for Christians faith was never alone and charity is greater than love ( 1 Cor. 13:13). We have to believe Jesus , Paul and the Apostles. We don't have to believe XVI century man-made doctrines. God bless you. In Jesus name. Amen.

@@Alfredo8059- It appears that you do read the Scriptures. I do not believe in Luther's Gospel or the Protestant Gospel. The Apostle Paul focused on the Gospel - Message - of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior who shed His Blood on the Cross, died, was buried, and rose again in three ( Jewish ) days. Jesus paid my sin debt, which goes all the way back to Adam. Protestantism set a precedent since Luther and Calvin could not agree over some issues and parted ways. I tend to go more Calvinist verses Luther. Apostle Paul stressed the Love of Jesus Christ over the Traditions & Doctrines of man. Many Protestant " Christians " could be in for a surprise of having Faith alone at the time of the Rapture; the second time that Jesus will come to humanity. We, as Believers, must have the Love of Jesus in our hearts, in order to obtain the humility of Jesus. Paul is credited with: One Church, One Faith, One Baptism - The Body of Christ. I do not believe in a place called Purgatory for Believers. It is my understanding that only a Church going, Sacrament keeping, Roman Catholic goes to Purgatory due to a few minor sins that need to be removed, before being with the Father in heaven for eternity? I disagree. I also have many reservations with the Doctrines of Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. What I do know that the Father has given to me the ability to accept His Grace through Faith. Jesus came to Reconcile me with the Father and constantly sends the Holy Spirit to me and to convict me of His existence and Sanctifying Power. I love the reading and study of Scriptures for it guides me to the Victory instore for true Believers. Our discourse is the type of Bible Study that strengthens those who seek Truth. Officiall Catholic teaching does not teach that "purgatory " is a place. Some imagine that the Catholic Church has an elaborate doctrine of purgatory worked out, but there are only three essential components of the doctrine that I think are entirely biblical doctrines:
      1-that a purificationafter death exists
2-that it involves some kind of pain, and
3-that the purification can be assisted by the prayers and offerings by the living to God.
Orthodox Jews to this day believe in the final purification and for eleven months after the death of a loved one they pray a prayer called "the Mourner's Kaddish for their loved one's purification. Jews Catholics and the Eastern rthodox have always historically prclaimed the reallity of the final purification. It was not until the Protestant Revolution in the XVIth century that anyone denied this doctrine. Quotes from the Early Church Fathers show "purgatory" has been part of the Christian faith from the very beginning.
Luther was a headstrong man, confident in his own opinions and refusing to submit to anyone. It was his way or the highway, a quality shared by Calvin and many other early Protestant leaders. This is why they argued among each other and could never agree. They rejected the belief that God protected the Church from error in her teachings. Protestants have continued to do the same ever since. Jesus tells us that one of the strongest argumentss for the truth of the Christian message will be the unity of His Church (John 17:20-23). 1 Corinthians 1:10, KJV: "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment." ... Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose." Thank you and God bless you.

Here’s the thing Mike. The Bible doesn’t state all of your beliefs. The word “Trinity” is not in the Bible...yet all Christians believe in the triune God. Know why? Because the early Catholic Church interpreted it that way. So say thank you to the Catholic Church for the core of Christian belief.
Catholics don’t believe in grace a little bit at a time...we are all given grace through faith in Christ. Christ calls us to do good works, and if you have true faith you will do good works. Many parables that Jesus himself says say that you must do good works or be thrown out of the kingdom of God, he even washes his Apostles feet.
You do not have to be baptized in the Catholic Church for salvation, the Catholic Church recognizes all trinitarian baptisms as legitimate. In Catholicism, parents are expected to raise their children in the faith. There is nothing in the Bible that says Baptism can not apply to infants so that’s your opinion which goes against almost all of Christian beliefs- including Protestants like Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, and yes Catholics.
On Penance, never heard of the treasury of merit, that’s not in the Catholic Catechism...do your research. Following penance instructions of the priest is not a work or necessary for forgiveness of sins, it is simply a way to get close to God. Purple stoll??? No not necessary. But it’s not the Catholic Church that forgives, it is Christ. Yes there is an Apolostic Succession in the Bible, read Acts. Keys of the kingdom were given by Jesus to Peter and his successors. No one is between me and God.
Mass to appease Gods wrath? No. Grace is not piecemeal, again it is fully given through faith. The Eucharist is God communing with us, we are partaking of Gods being, per his commandment - do this in memory of me. This is my body, this is my blood...Jesus does NOT say it’s a symbol. Eucharist is NOT necessary for salvation, Catholics believe trinitarian Christians can all be saved. Yes, it IS Jesus, because Jesus said so, so yes we do worship His real presence. Do more research and stop spreading falsehoods. The Apostles did recognize it was Jesus body and blood, because Jesus is the new Passover. Your interpretation is in the minority and you don’t know better than millions who came before you. Love how you pick and choose your bible verses. Witchcraft? So insulting. Again it’s not about getting cleansed or bits of grace, it’s about communion with God. We are not constantly condemned, but we are all sinners. You are NOT perfected forever...yes Jesus paid it all, but he didn’t make you perfect. Catholics absolutely believe Jesus paid for our sins with his ONE sacrifice. You are so wrong about Catholic teachings, you skim the surface and don’t understand the meaning behind it.
Mass is first part about scripture, we read Old Testament, New Testament, and the Gospel every Sunday, and hear preaching just like you.
Appease the wrath of God is a big theme of yours, and so wrong. Do you even know a single Catholic person? Have you talked with a Priest?
1208 AD - there was only one Church...the Catholic Church! The pope then was talking about non-Christians. Yes, Vatican 2, current Catholic teaching, is that all those believe in Jesus as Triune God are saved.
You don’t understand the role of the Pope, he is not infallible, yes many popes have said stupid things over time, as I’m sure many of your church leaders have (including you stating so many false things).
Purgatory recognizes that we are sinners and it’s a time of purification before being in the presence of God. It is not defined in terms of time or condition. Yes the thief will be in paradise because of his true faith, but I bet there was a period of purgatory for that murderer before he got to that paradise.
Saints aren’t the only ones in heaven. Yes they can be intercessors, but praying to saints is not mandatory. All Catholics are welcome to and encouraged to pray straight to Christ. Just because it’s not in scripture doesn’t mean it wasn’t an early practice of the church and a legitimate Christian expression. Look up the Perpetual help prayer again, it is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from what you read. Nothing about entrusting my soul or salvation to Mary...nothing about changing Jesus mind. Falsehood that you’re speaking. We never worship Mary or any other saint. Mary does not love us more than Jesus, that is RIDICULOUS. And INSULTING.
Yes the Marian dogmas are not scripture based, they are based on traditions passed down through the centuries. Like many other fundamental Christian beliefs. Brothers = friends or apostles. No there is not even close to as much attention on MARY as of Jesus...have you been in any Catholic Church and seen the crucifix front and center? Have you been to a Catholic service, there is constant prayer to Christ. NO WORSHIP OF MARY. Not idolatry.
You have completely misrepresented Catholic teachings. COMPLETELY. Spend more time trying to understand the fundamentals. There is more to Christianity, there is also Tradition that has been divinely revealed over time. There is nothing in Catholicism that conflicts with the Bible. I hope your readers will have a more open mind and do real research on the Catholic Church.

the Godhead is clearly taught in scripture we don't need the rcc for that.
actually rc have different types and definition of grace from us ----- and teach God gives you grace to do "salutary acts" (which means good works) which earns you more grace to do more "salutary acts" to get more grace ………. and what happens when you commit a mortal sin ?
correct the rcc now teaches there is salvation outside the rcc but that was changed. the old teaching was
ALL those outside the rcc eg. Jews, heretics, schismatics, pagans went to hell. we all know that b/c rc are having a big fight with other rc over that.
I was told the rc priest wore a purple stoll when hearing confessions by a rc is he lying ? and that's the problem the rcc teaches you need to go through a rc priest to have your sins forgiven. in emergency you can go directly to God but afterwards you have to go to a rc priest to make it official.
rc call the mass a propitiatory sacrifice and I have talked to a rc priest and he agrees with Pastor Mike…….. "CCC 1367 The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice: "The victim is one and the same: the same now offers through the ministry of priests, who then offered himself on the cross; only the manner of offering is different." "And since in this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and is offered in an unbloody manner. . . this sacrifice is truly propitiatory."" and I'm pretty sure Trent also supports Pastor Mike's statements about the rc mass.
we understand about the pope ……. he is infallible when speaking ex cathedra on matters of faith and morals.
purgatory denies Jesus' sacrifice was sufficient and is a misinterpretation on the part of the rcc to get loads of cash.
talking to those mortals that have left the earthly realm is forbidden biblically and Jesus told us to go directly to the Father in His will. you give Mary hyperdulia which is worship.
actually with many rc it's Mary, Mary, Mary. and not only is your Mariology not clearly taught in scripture it makes no sense and even in part condemned by scripture.
no he didn't he correctly exposed Catholicism

My brother I have been a Catholic all my life. This church does so many things against Christ it's scary. I have never seen a man or woman receive Christ in my old Catholic Church. No man should ever be called father. Ever.....never.. It's just to many things that are against God. This is all about God not nothing else.

One problem with your claim. The early rcc wasn’t in existence until about 400s

Bill, I've been reading my Bible for 40 years after I left the CC. He does not misrepresent the CC. It's very spot on. The CC isn't the only church that believes in works +faith. It's a huge heresy in many churches.

@sptomase *John 20 does not say Roman religion inherited the authority of the APostles to forgive sins though. So where is your proof that it was so? Only self claims?*
*You are still pretending "Roman religion = the Church or Universal Church". Bible does not say so. Neither Jesus. Why do RCs keep making self claims with no proof?*
*Where in the Bible ever says "only mortal sins lead to death"? When Romans 6:23 says "all sins lead to death"?*
    you said
Ok I said I couldn’t watch anymore of this but I had to watch about confession. He’s just lying or doesn’t get it. They did confess their sins. The Bible says ‘who’s sins you forgive are forgiven and who’s sins you retained’. Venial and mortal sins are also talked about in the Bible. It’s very clear. Also he said The Church teaches you can’t go to God. That’s a lie.
