Owning the 1963, I'm a fan of the brand. When Paul Newman's Daytona sold for such an astronomical sum, I asked Dan if he was considering something similar and he mentioned this one. I'm glad to finally see it. Love the reverse panda on the bracelet.

I was expecting to be underwhelmed or at best indifferent, but I am actually properly impressed. The size is a crowd pleaser and the build quality looks to be spot on at the price. Reverse panda on a distressed brown leather strap please!

My three or four most expensive watches were bought on your referral. I buy a lot of Quartz watches because they are more affordable and less hassle. I also love your videos on with a real gentleman is and just trying to be a better person. They line up with my Christian values. Thank you for your kind reply.keep up the good work.

Not a fan of chrono's myself but these definitely have a full sense of style, not being overcrowded on the dial yet still functional and quite attractive overall. Fantastic review TGV. I have the DH 1970 in 40mm and absolutely love the quality and workmanship in DH watches for the price point. Your review of the new 1964 pushed me over the edge and I put in an order for one. I have to say most of my watches have date complications but his particular watch looks so elegant and clean without the date that I opted for No Date. Beautiful work by Dan Henry.

Dan Henry is a great guy. He personally thanked me when I purchase my '39. His passion for watches has expanded my appreciation for horology. His site, timeline.watch, is such an excellent site to learn about vintage watches. I get lost there sometimes and forget what time it is. I will definitely be acquiring one (?) of this new batch. Great review, as always. (They appear to be available now. BTW, I also happened to be wearing my flightmaster while I watched the review.)

  • @antonyduc3301
    @antonyduc3301 6 років тому +8

oh no, why making 4? How can I choose now?
At first vision, I fell in love with the Panda for its iconic Daytona look. But after the third or fourth time watching this video, I kind of preferred the elegance of the silver dial beautifully combining with the blue tachymeter and blued hands. And now, after a few days of digestion, I am actually falling in love with the understated yet splendid warm & dark grey dial. Can anybody please disagree with me or help me decide?
The best way is still to try them on. Is there a way to see them in real? Is it possible to visit the factory?
Anyway, the review is astonishing. Both the quality of the visuals and the thoughts shared about the collection are so insightful. These reviews are the best commercial ever because they are and feel real. All four pieces look very refined and I am so thankful they are not 42mm!!!

Having the same problem, although I think dark or gray watches soon become dull to me. Suspect the silver dial will be best over time, but hard to tell when I have never seen these watches physically. And had not heard of them before. I wish they came as 40 or 41 mm, as I have a somewhat larger wrist than TGV.

Great review, as expected, and amazing watch, brilliantly sized at 38mm and improved value proposition when compared to the Baltic Panda Limited Edition. It seems Dan Henry, who despite being a vintage collector and connoisseur was making chunkier watches, is listening to experts and enthusiasts. The difficulty is choosing the dial color. I like the panda styles, the black dial with white sub-dials and that contrasting tachymetre scale, but now can't ignore TGV choice.

Great job Dan Henry, great job reviewing TGV ! i hope some day he make something like 1945 chronos. Same chair, same time of day, a week and uncountable hours upon hours of research and TGV videos later, the timer on the G-Shock AWG M-100 that I bought Saturday just beeped to remind me to turn off the sprinkler. I dash back in to hear all about this new chronograph, exicted like my soccer team just signed a new international player, wondering if THIS will be my next watch (I love chronos) or if I'll pick one of the half dozen I have sitting in my Long Island Watch shopping cart.

(Speaking of marques, I believe the car on the watch back is intended to be an Aston Martin DB4 or 5, both of which would be period correct...although he put the gas cap on the wrong side ;) ). I know this review is a couple years old, but it did just help push me across the line in buying a DH 1964 (White Panda - the one version not included in your review). I had been looking at the DH watches for over a year, but by the time I felt ready to buy, the one I really wanted (1962 Panda) was sold out. Then I just ran across this review of the 1964 and decided to go for it. The White Panda version was still available in the 1964 and I think it looks just as classic as the 62 (although truth be told I do like the 62 just a little better). Glad you mentioned the sapphire coated glass since, for some reason, I could not find that info anywhere on the DH web site. (By the way, I also have a Flight Master (on which I have installed the green NDC parachute strap with the yellow stripe).

I’m stuck between the silver and the reverse panda black dial. I don’t have a reverse panda in my collection, but the silver one looks classy and the sunburst with the applied indices seems like it plays nicely in the light

The all silver version reminds me very much of my Heuer Carrera chronograph. I much prefer my Heuer’s 30 minute sub dial. The Dan Henry would be a good starter watch for someone just starting a collection.

I just went to his web site... that black 39 is amazing. This company is a great find, I will own one as soon as a decision can be made.... probably the panda as well.

Vintage watches had such great design and proportions . These new sports watches look like the manufacturers are pricing them by the pound.
I've been wanting a vintage chronograph but they are very expensive to service. Since these are perfect in size and proportions , I will be buying one very soon. Pure Class TVG.

Thanks TGV for this great review. I’ve just ordered the silver and the panda both with no date. One thing about polywatch : you can’t use it for remove scratches on mineral glasses and even less on saphir coated. It won’t work. Only on plexy

38mm and under 45mm lug-to-lug? As someone with a smaller wrist this is the sweet spot. It's a beautiful watch, might pull the trigger on this one

Just received my Casio (reference B650WD-1ACF) in the mail about an hour ago! A lot of watch and vintage styling for only $25. What a banger this one is! I tried to save for an SKX, but I just could not pass up this watch again. Might pick up a Timex x Tom Snyder here pretty soon!
Thank you for all you do TGV.
    Much praise from Texas,

    Fantastic Premiere TGV!
Another big fan here of Dan Henry watches, I bought the 1963 pilot chronograph (Black Bezel) after watching one of your videos a few months back and was hugely impressed. You'd be hard pressed to find a well designed and finished timepiece for the price, the backplate in itself is a work of art.
These Gran Turismo's, especially the full silver version look just as good
    Super review mate⌚😀👍

Great looking piece from Dan Henry. Always seems to be on his game when designing a new piece. This looks remarkably good! Quite the crowd pleaser i think with the strap and dial options. What a superb value for money!

My Dan Henry 1964 was a nice addition to my collection to avoid having to pay for a 1964 Heuer Carrera, which was arguably the least reliable chronograph ever made. Makes me feel like Steve McQueen every time I look at it. Elegant and a great value.

Wow they are so beautiful. I only just discovered Dan’s website yesterday, & now you put up this video lol. I was thinking about buying the black dial 1939 after watching your review of the Tissot Janeiro. But being a micro brand I was pretty hesitant & really didn’t think I would buy one. So this video has definitely changed my mind about that. Especially finding out he’s a passionate collector of watches. The silver 1964 is absolutely stunning though, I’m totally sold on that one. I have only just recently got into watch collecting because of your videos. Just received my first 2 watches this week. :)
So thank you for all your fun to watch and very informative videos!-) Oh btw, the Tissot Janeiro’s are selling for over $2000 US now. One even sold for $8000 on eBay a couple of weeks ago. I was excited to hear you picked yours up for under 1000 & thought I would look for one! But sadly their a bit out of my price range now lol. Also, one more thing, could you tell me what song that is in the intro? It sounds like the guitarist from Alice in Chains.
Anyway, thank you from Australia! Enjoy the rest of your week.

As a certified Petrol Head, that is my favorite intro, and I MUST have one of these! I am absolutely smitten. The only trouble would be which color combination to choose! I really like the level of detail used in making and polishing the case. It is just the right size, but I do agree that an 18mm lug width would be better. I think I just found my Christmas present to myself! Thank you for another wonderful video!
    Adios,

Oooohh...this is good. Very, very good.
I couldn’t be more excited for a watch.
I’ve been searching feverishly for an excellent new chronograph, but every thing I find is over-sized and over-priced.
Everyone of those dials are simply exquisite and the size is simply perfect.
    Looking forward to getting one...
Thanks for an AWESOME video, TGV.

Funny how that’s now that struggle, huh? Trying to decide which one.
Each are beautifully unique in their own right. I will say, at this moment, I am leaning toward the all-silver version. And while the band is lovely, I would swap it out for a high quality leather Rally racing band. I think that would look amazing.
The size of the watch is also what I am so thrilled about. For once there’s a watch that I love the style and is perfect for my wrist size.
You’re always introducing me to watches I want...you’re killing me, TGV! Haha
      Cheers
BTW, I surely wish the Todd Snyder Timex Marlin re-issue was an automatic. :(
