I saw this movie while stationed in Germany, back in 1981. It should have been a walloping success, but didn’t work out that way. The boat chase scene was very well done. Laser effects were so good. Michael Crawford owned the role, even though he was a big ham. Barbara Carrera was lovely, and Oliver Reed was villainous. The special effects were supervised by Colin Chilvers and Art Cruickshank.
I think if they'd have used a regular boat, instead of that whatever that was or at least not painted it an obnoxious yellow color, that scene would have been much better, going into it i expected it to be a lot worse, I think movie makers under-estimate how little it takes to turn people off, just using the wrong lighting, or a bad line of dialog is all it takes to turn a masterpiece into a flop.

Condorman ! one fo the best DIsney movies , loved the whole porsche scene ...my oh my so many years have past . this movie with more recent cars would still work.
This movie would probably work MUCH better today than in the 80s... CGI can make so many things cooler and if you look at the Car chase that silly interface or the clearly CG "windshieldramp" they used were so fake, today you could get that look as if it would work in the real world... plus Condorman's Wings with the effects skills people could gather from showing Falcon (like Avengers Civil War or the new Series with the Winter Soldier) or even Iron Man.... yeah i'd dig that. It would need a slight touch up for the "comicbook artist gets sucked into espionage against the evil Eastern Block" storyline, but well... Putin isn't much better than whoever was leader in Moscow in the 80s when this was made and the KGB was believably a villain in 90% of US adventure movies ;) And we already expect any spy agency to have a competent "Q Branch" now that makes ridiculously scifi tech gadgets for the hero... Now that i think about it and have mentioned Iron Man... i'd also love a sequel or reboot of "The Rocketeer"... Another Movie where hte effects haven't quite held up over the last 30 or so years... Wasn't that also a buena Vista (= live action Disney) production? Oh, looked it up and i was close, it was published under the Touchstone brand of Disney.
If the Russians were smart: Wouldn’t chasing after them in our boats put us at an instant disadvantage? Because we’d have to keep pace with them while also going slow enough to keep our shots accurate? And because their boat’s to shallow for torpedoes, I think we should attack from the air! Child me: Haha, baddies go boom!
I now own this film condor man but years back I couldn’t for the life of me remember what it was called, and I only remembered one scene were he is being chased by black Porsches about six of them I think and the hud or bonnet depending on what side of the Atlantic Ocean you live on causes one of the porches to be launched into the air. I couldn’t even remember the actor in it and thought It was someone totally different.
Michael Crawford (,Condor Man) stared as Frank Spencer in the 1970s UK. show " Some Mothers do Have Em" in which he played a clumsy inpet handyman who constantly got himself into hair raising situations and he did all his own stunts.

Ah, Condorman. As tweens in the early 90's my brother and I saw a preview of this at the start of some other rental VHS. We wanted to see it so bad. We searched for it in every video rental place in our small town, but nobody had it. Then, in college one of my best friends would reference it all the time and said it was his favorite movie as a kid. It travels a long way, but especially in the 1980s it does not stay collimated (bundled tightly together) for long... it would be more a hot searchlight when it went several kilometers than still be a lethal weapon. Condor man attended the same weapons training as the storm troopers.
maybe he taught the storm troopers
you try shooting from a speed boat bouncing on waves at other boats doing the same thing, even a small bump will throw your aim off

Same sound effects, too.
I mean, he's a comic book artist trying to aim with zero training on a wildly pitching boat. Go figure.
I agree. A three man racing hydrofoil is pretty cool, especially with the Condorman paint scheme.
