Maybe a dumb idea, but ... Regarding finding the queen. The one that came with the package I ordered had a little dot painted on the back. Why not use fluorescent paint so you can use a UV flashlight (cost about $5 on Amazon). I find small coolant leaks on the car engine this way - it's dirt simple and fast.

My be sure do love my red clover I have about 25 acres of it plus the weeping willow bees are down there getting covered in yellow they look like they're enjoying their selves I kneel down by the entrance and just watch him one right after another maybe 5 at a time little saddle bags are full

What is different that you should be looking for when you look for your queen? I think they are bigger, is that correct?

I did my first package this way, they built comb on the inner cover , hade to cut away and place in frame.

We ship queens anywhere in the US. Climate makes no difference.

Aren't most quart canning jars small mouth? Maybe walmart?
David Burns I have had a hard time finding big jars without the large mouth. An older beekeeper friend of mine said he bought a bunch of jars just like the one you have in the video from a soda bottling factory a long time ago. Just thought I'd ask you. Thanks.
Well, maybe the one you are talking about is my big half gallon with small mouth. I've got a ton of them that I bought from a beekeeper who went out of business.
I picked up a 64-oz (1/2 gal) large mouth mason jar at Target for $6. You can get 12-32-oz mason jars at Target for < $10.
mr david wiche will you recommend buying a nuc or a package
Both have pros and cons. I prefer packages because you are not getting comb. Most diseases are in the comb, like American Foul Brood etc. A good nuc provider will have his nucs inspected and mostly new comb.
thank you , when i inspected one of the hives last week i saw the queen fall about 12 inches down into the lower brood chamber would falling kill her i noticed yesterday that the workers have drawn out queen cells and am a bit concerned that the original queen may have died i did not see her the last time i checked
