Captain America: The Winter Soldier is widely regarded as one of the best movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wait but the Avengers Initiative was cancelled until Loki showed up, so HYDRA might've tried to stop the Avengers forming using an elaborate plot.
Plus yes there were hydra members in s.h.i.e.l.d but not everyone in s.h.i.e.l.d was hydra so it's not like they completely controlled everything they did.

Yeah they’ve handled a lot of twists from the movies pretty well. It’s just infinity war/end game that they couldn’t work around though.

I was amazed to hear how many people gasped in apparent shock when the Winter Soldier mask fell off and they learned it was Bucky. My opening day audience for CATWS was delightfully clueless. :)
I think that's the way some movies should be, sometimes its better if the audience has no idea what's going to happen.

I watched Infinity War and Endgame and Black Panther all before Winter Solider, so I recognized Bucky’s arm, so I knew it was him.

Steve and Natasha going to Sam for support was the smart move, though. Hydra/Shield knew about all their superhero friends and other contacts, and would have kept an eye on those in case they showed up. Turning to the guy Steve had just run into the other day was something Hydra could not have foreseen.

I actually liked the agents of shield tie in with winter soldier. That's when agents of shield started to get good.
They really played it well with setting up characters as good guys and flipping it for the Hydra reveal; didn't expect it to go that way.

@@Keira_Blackstone Agents of Shield definitely got a lot better! Seasons 1-2 were a bit slow, 3 was a big improvement, and season 4 was basically perfect all the way through

That twist was amazing. My 9 year old little brother was blown away when we saw it in the theaters.
I think the marvel journey was even more fun for me because I knew very little about the comics. Characters like Bucky, The Guardians, Black Panther, Falcon, Hawkeye... they just kept coming, and it was all surprise for me. Nice.
In the elevator scene they weren’t trying to kill them. Pierce even says this. They’re trying to arrest him

Agent Carter & Agents of Shield Pitch Meetings? I consider the tv shows just part of the MCU, like The Clone Wars & Rebels are part of the Star Wars franchise.
In the beginning both shows were. At the time of Winter Soldier the MCU became elitist and by season 6 the surviving show finally said "then f... the MCU canon." . Clone Wars and Rebels on the other hand are officially canon of the modern Star Wars franchise. In the case of Clone Wars I think it was even pretty much the only non movie thing to get that treatment at the time.

I love cap's movies but no one ever really talks about them, but to this day my friends at work still talk about thor and the avengers.

For some it's Avengers, for some it's the first Iron man, but for me it's definitely The Winter Soldier. My favorite MCU movie hands down!
