X-Men: Days of Future Past was an exciting movie for fans, seeing as it brought together different versions of iconic characters like Professor X and Magneto, along with other favorites like Wolverine, Mystique, Storm, Kitty Pryde, Iceman, Colossus and more! That being said, because the movie deals with time travel, it’s kind of a mess when you stop to think about it. Like why did Wolverine travel to JUST before Mystique killed Bollivar Trask? What’s up with Magneto DROPPING A STADIUM and ruining everything? Why was Professor X even hanging around? Why did Quicksilver suddenly stop helping the X-Men?

The “twist” at the end where Stryker was actually Mystique was one of the dumbest most obvious studio note changes I’ve ever seen.
true. it made no sense whatsoever. but then again this is the X-Men films where nothing makes sense.
No kidding! I remember seeing it and thinking, "Oh, dang" then when I thought about it a little more I realized that it didn't really mean anything. It was the plot twist equivalent of doing a jump scare.

Agreed. It's the sort of thing that seems cool in the moment but if you think about it for more than a second it just doesn't work. Unless the implication is Mystique just straight up shoves Logan in weapon x anyway, which Apocalypse seems to suggest, or we assume the, now massively retconned, Origins happens as it originally did.
The prominence of Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique is definitely one of the poorest aspects of the first class timeline.
I just dont understand it.
Really, what was the point? Not only it almost ruins the ending of this movie, it was never addressed in Apocalypse.

I'm surprised you didn't mention how using Mystique's DNA for the Sentinels makes no sense when the Sentinels are clearly shown copying/absorbing mutants' powers which is Rogue's ability, not shape-shifting which is Mystique's (who cannot actually copy powers).
In the Rogue Cut they actually do say just that.

Well, in the first X-Men movie, when Mystique shape-shifted into Wolverine, she did have his adamantium claws.

The wolverine origins movie actually showed he was still alive.. .and there was an end credits scene that Charles was in the hospital but I'm not sure what movie that was in.
There's a post-credits scene in X-Men The Last Stand where the nurse hears Charles' voice coming from the coma patient. He transferred his consciousness into the guy before Jean killed him. Then in the post-credits scene in X-Men Origins, he tells Logan "You're not the only one with gifts", implying the transfer worked.
X-men origins and The wolverine are two different movies

@@MLBlue30 Nah, it has some decent performances and scenes which offset all the crappy writing. I'd say it's passable but to hear some fans talk they'd say it's the best of the franchise. Not even close. Either First Class or X2 are the best there and even they aren't great movies, just good enough ones.

I wish people would stop assuming that directors also write their movies. Days of Future Past was written by Simon Kinburg, from a story by Kinberg, Jane Goldman, and Matthew Vaughn.

Definitely not the best xmen movie. X2 and first class are. This is just higher in the list becuaee the rest are just so bad. But even the original xmen is better.

@@aedanmannion zero sense with nostalgia, it's superior because at least the plot was cohesiveness what the villain was doing. It wasn't messy like Future past which used a lot of plot armor. Original Xmen was grounded grounded make sense at least of how the plot evolved and isn't convoluted.

Thank you for voicing all the complaints I had of this movie. I remember someone involved in the movie explaining why they didn't send Kitty Pryde back. "Well, we explained in the movie, going back in time shreds your mind, so..." and I was like BULLSHIT! You just made that rule so you can make another Wolverine movie!
5:50 the director confirmed that this happened because that was the beginning of mystique's arc in X-Men apocalypse.
