Hello Prayank, thank you for stopping by. In regards to the FAA private pilot training, I feel that all other flight-related calculations are at about this same level of complexity/simplicity. G,day AIDYL CONCEPTS from Sydney Australia. Thankyou for explaining the calculations that are important to a pilot. Loading a plane with items and measuring weight and it's distribution to the planes C of G is extremely important to safe flight. I have completed Q1. And divided the (plank) fulcrum into two sides of the pivot point (C of G). Obtained the total weights of both sides, and subtracted the lessor side from the greater, leaving the remaining weight of 7500lbs ÷ 25=300lbs at point (Y). I really appreciate your facilition of numeracy. 🤯⚖️📱

I can nail this written test, but I would like to get the highest possible grade I can get so my check-ride isn't as long on the ground.
@AIDYLCONCEPTS Nice video... may I ask, what does this mean? "The Centre of Gravity range of most aircraft reduces as the aircraft mass increases". What does "reduces" mean in this context please? Does it mean move forward OR move aft?
I watched this on 2 separate days, so you might have mentioned this earlier in the video, but, . . ., did you discuss how we know that the new CG was too far AFT instead of too far FORWARD? Does the higher number mean aft, and lower number mean forward? I think so because I would consider oil to be pretty far forward, and the calculations showed the oil moment as -2, so the lower moment number must mean forward. And, yes, I love the puns!
The second example question is wrong the FAA test prep book estimates the weight to a moment of 11.5 lb-in/1000 which does not make any sense rounding in a way that would reduce safety. but that's how the FAA does it
Yeah I'm not doing well on my practice test. Mostly weight and balance and wind effects on flight. I bought the e6b calculator and I'm kinda wishing I had the manual version
For the last question, if we already knew the weight was reduced by 210 pounds, couldn't we have already known the CG was aft of limits? Only because we know that a lighter plane has a CG more aft than a heavier plane whose CG is moved forward. Both B and C would not have made sense in general if the weight of the plane had been reduced.
This helped until 13 minutes 57 seconds - it feels like a trick question or an answer so specific in the middle of the graph as to not matter - unless we are taking an exam. Time to get a snack and come back or just fly the plane as all three answers are in the middle of the acceptable limits. Now I'll wait for someone to say - "well actually..." (Snack time)
Haha! I agree. I often seek those annoying questions that feel poorly written so people don't fall victim to those tricks. I think some are just unproductive to learning to become a safe pilot. And I admit, I give myself several snack breaks while making these videos. Thank you for your feedback and best wishes!
Hello Donna, thank you for your input. Currently, I am close to finishing and posting a new video (wind calculations). After that one, weight and balance part 2 is next in line! :)
