More info: Squad 21 was placed out of service due to high mileage and wear & tear, Squad 48’s frontline was moved to 21’s while Squad 48 was using a 1992 Seagrave until it broke down due to mechanical issues, hence the reason why they were placed in the CAL OES Rig. As of now, The CAL OES rig is back in storage ready for a major hazmat while Squad 21 & 48 swapped frontlines

Not true, Squad 21’s frontline was out of service for mechanical issues. Squad 21 is using 48’s rig as a reserve, not a frontline

Negative they switched them due to miles. They renumbered them.

Very interesting catch. What is OES, Office of Emergency service? Is it like a disaster management?
Thank you for the information and very beautiful catches.

      Yes that is correct

Yep that's pretty much what it is they send fire engines out to cities as well or counties for them to use statewide and to also use for when they're in need of reserves

CalOES has provided engines and equipment to local agencies since the 1950s. The idea of the program is that OES gives you an engine for free, but you promise to staff and provide it for statewide mutual aid when requested. Generally they’re not used for frontline service, but when engines are out of service they can be used to fill the gap, with the department reimbursing OES for maintenance costs incurred.
The advantage of the program is two fold: OES can pre-stage specialized units across the state for a fast response to major incidents, and local departments can provide mutual aid without having to use their own engines (which are far more limited than personnel).

It’s a California Office of Emergency Services hazmat unit, just housed at an LAFD station. Wasn’t spec’d exactly for LAFD.

Ultimately Cal OES just like Homeland Security is a quasi government group. They Ultimately serve special interests and there is conflict of interest of always serving only for the public. In fact Cal OES works closely with Homeland Security.
These groups may seem harmless but are detrimental for the overall publi.
Quasi government groups like Homeland Security/Cal OES should absolutely removed.
