    You have good tips. Also, i like your high-speed bicycle videos. I just saw a wild video done with various views from a 360-degree camera. That'd make a super bicycle video! :-) * I've come to the conclusion that stock isn't time efficient. * I'm working on some videos for Pond 5. I'll see how it goes. I don't know as much now, but back in the '80s magazines were buying for Christmas in June and July, and for the 4th of July in Dec. & Jan.

      @photographybyraul  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Romie. I have a 360 camera but I scratched the lens on my last trip. You can create some really cool effects with those cameras. It’s unfortunate that stock photography income has plummeted so much over the past few years. Fortunately I have a large portfolio that brings in consistent passive income but a newcomer will face a very challenging uphill fight. Even videos are facing a very tough market with continued reduced commissions. Good luck with Pond5!

      @@nightwhite2477 As I stated in the video, you should view stock income as supplemental or passive income. Hi Raul this is a great video. In the UK there are different laws on buildings. If it is in a public place, not private and you haven't recreated a 3d model of that building in your photo then it is legal to sell for commercial use without permission needed by the architect etc... I have tried explaining this to one stock company in particular but they assume the rest of the world has US law. The amount of money they spend on lawyers they might actually spare the time to read the law in relation to that and realise it is legal in different countries. Shame as they are missing out on a buck here.

    Excellent video. Simple points and easy to understand. I'm looking into expanding my use of photos with stock images, though concerned about the amount of time I am putting into them (not being compensated as much as I want) and the need to use Lightroom or other software to modify pics so that they're sellable (time, money to buy program, learning curve). I am in the research stage, watching video by people who have been doing it and listening to their advice before acting impulsively and regretting it later.

    I am very curious about what is a good number of photos and or videos in a portfolio should be to judge if I am making progress. I have watched your videos and see it takes time, a lot of time. Someplace I think I saw a number of photos and videos that would produce some income. I am pushing ahead and wonder what the first benchmark should be to evaluate if I can cut it. What would you or the group says is the first evaluation point. Right now with adobe, I am getting 50% rejection rate so can see it is long-term. Stop and evaluate at 1,000 images and 250 Videos and see if making headway? RIGHT/WRONG

    • @photographybyraul
      @photographybyraul  2 роки тому

      Hi David, it’s hard to put a number as an initial benchmark since so many factors influence the profitability of your portfolio.
      As I continuously state in my videos, Commercial Value is the critical component of a successful portfolio. A 1000 image portfolio could be a good starting point. However, what’s the composition of those images? Are they all landscapes? Are they a combination of unique images that will attract diverse buyers? If you are singularly focused on a particular stock category then the quality of those images or videos need to be superior. These and other factors will influence your sales potential.
      I believe a 50% rejection rate is too high. Examine the underlying theme of those rejections. This is a challenging time to be a stock contributor so your portfolio needs to stand above your peers. What makes your portfolio unique?
      Thanks for subscribing to my channel and watching my videos. Best wishes for a successful portfolio 😊📷

    Shutterstock is very difficult to work with. I've had photos rejected for false and stupid reasons. One editorial image was rejected for not having a model release, but Shuterstock will not accept a release with editorial photos. It's too difficult to work with, so I use 5 other agencies. As of now, I personally have better luck with Adobe stock.

    • @photographybyraul
      @photographybyraul  3 роки тому +1

      Romie Miller I feel your pain. I’ve had the same type of issues. Some reviewers are more reasonable than others that often look for any reason for a rejection rather than finding the value of the image. Adobe is forging ahead, I just wish they accepted all editorial images.

      Hi Jeff, model photos are usually embedded in the release file. I use a phone app called Easy Release to manage my digital releases. The app allows you to enter all the model or property data and you can either insert a saved pic or take a quick pic of the model for the release. The app allows you to email the finished signed release to yourself and the model and can be saved as a PDF or JPG for upload to the agencies. I've used the app for several years and has eliminated the need for paper copies and scanning. Most agencies will demand a single release form so your process of sending a separate release and photo probably won't be accepted by the agencies.

      @@photographybyraul I have the free version to ER, however I have no idea how to attach photo? how could it be embedded if they don't have a photo of her yet?
      And when I send the P5 realest to my email, it opens up automatically with Adobe Reader, should it do this? I wanted to go upload this file to P5 which is the only thing I know how to do, Lol

      I have the premium version of ER. Perhaps some of the features are missing in the free version. The ER app allows you to embed the model pic in the release and you have the option to send as PDF or JPG.

    What if you have old photos but you need model releases, how do you share profits with model?

    • @photographybyraul

      Images with people will not be accepted by the agencies as commercial images without a valid model release. Stock photographers generally don't share earnings with models.

    How do I get my car photos accepted by Shutterstock? I’m using editorial but get rejected for branding

      Uncertain why they aren’t being accepted. I recently got a bunch approved as editorial from a car show.

    I am level 3 on Shitterstock and i still get the minimum commission of 10 cents for some downloads. Do you have any idea why?

    • @photographybyraul
      @photographybyraul  Рік тому +1

      The 10 cent commission is from “free trial” users. This commission amount is the same regardless your contributor level.
