I just came across this video today (10/26/22). I am 72 years old, father of 2, and grandfather of 3. Your video touched me very sincerely. I have lost pets over the years due to natural causes - and I know the pain of losing a loved family member such as Cookie. You have paid a wonderful homage to this special friend - your affection and tenderness for him is clearly demonstrated. Please accept my sympathies, but also admiration for the obvious care and love you gave him throughout his life.
Sir, I know far too well the feeling of losing a loved animal and I just wanted to tell to everyone who has experienced this kind of lose that I wish you will do well. Godspeed you magnificent bird…

I've got 22 lovebirds and have had many other birds, and it's one of the saddest moments...attending your bird's death , they normally die on your hands, with you crying without stopping 😭💔

I grew up watching cookie, and now that i’ve learned he’s passed on to birdy heaven is making me sad. I never thought this day would come, rest in paradise cookie.

Budgie's normal life span is 5 - 8 years, this warrior of a bird lasted 10 years! Rest in peace little cookie, I hope you're having a better life in bird heaven ♥

5-8 years is in wild and in cage whit healthy food and other stuff its between 8-20

I feel your pain, brother. I love all of my pets forever, and my last one was a budgie named Fluffy. He flew away a few years ago, and I pray for him every day. God Bless all of these baby creatures that bring so much joy to our lives. May they be with us, and us with them, forever and ever!

Such a heartbreaking loss. I am weeping that this little hero has passed away, but he had such a great life, and a passing that was full of love. My darling Pikey, who is a 10 year old double of Cookie, send you and your family big hugs at what must be such a difficult time for you. I will continue to watch your cookie videos, as he has brought such joy with his witty, smart little ways.

I can’t stop crying. You and Cookie had a beautiful relationship and he was absolutely the cutest bird. At least your wife was stroking him at his last moment. The grave you made for him, under the apple tree, with the pretty stone and the light, shows how very much you loved him. Just came across this video this morning and this bought tears to my eyes; but it was clear that Cookie was loved and well cared for.
When I saw your bird on the cage floor it brought many memories. Years ago when I was seven years old, I begged my mother to buy a bird and she did. I named him Skippy. One day, Skippy couldn’t stand on his perch so I placed him on the bottom of the cage with food and water so he didn’t have to go far. I came home after work and my mother and sister kept pushing me to have dinner. I asked if Skippy had died and my mother said yes. I cried and asked my landlord if I could burry him in the back yard and she said yes.He was my first pet and I will never forget him. I am sorry for your loss.

@@SUR3N_III I think he was 11 years old. I got him when I was 7 and he died when I was 18. Boy did I love that bird. He couldn’t pronounce my name so he called me Maree. One day my mother was convinced that he had laryngitis so she fed him tea off of a spoon. He would say, “Morning mama”. He was special.
This was a very touching goodbye. Cookie was truly a special bird and he had a wonderful life with you. I am sure that he was happy that he could spend the last of his time here on Earth with you and your family and now is flying high with all the other budgies. He did not look like he was suffering, just tired with old age. It is sad that these precious little birds live such a short while but it makes every moment with them all the more precious. Cookie was and forever will be my inspiration when it comes to the budgies and my boys love to listen to him chirp from the videos.
We will all miss him but his legacy lives on. Fly high Cookie boy. You were the goodest of boys.

I've just lost my budgie and it was my fault.
He was displaying signs and behaviour that I understand now, of a sick bird.
But I said to myself, he likes sitting on the ground.
He's eating , happy to see me.
I feel so guilty!
My neglect eventually killed him.
Day 4 of morning.
It comes in waves the sadness, he was only 3 year's old.
I feel so selfish it's a pain you can't really talk about.
As people may think it's only a bird.
It's not that I loved him or he loved me.
He needed me and I failed.
I don't think I'll ever have a budgie again.
It's pathetic how I was willing him to get better when all I had to do is take him to the vet!
I hat this part of myself, neglectful, selfish.

It’s okay I have been thru something very similar I found a cat on the street and didn’t know she was pregnant 5 days later she gave birth to 4 kittens in which I ended up keeping 1. I was so focused on the kittens making them b comfortable w me I feel like I abandoned my dwarf hamster. And as my cat kept growing up I spent less and less time w my hamster eventually a year later she passed away and I still feel so bad abt that I wish I could change things I think that if I still gave her attention she woulda lived for a while longer. When I found her home I was w my friend and I couldn’t stop crying bc Ik what I did and the guilt came back to me at once why was I so selfish and stupid :(

Precious love story. I’ve had many great relationships with my furred and feathered friends. Their deaths rip you apart but to not have opened your heart in the first place would have been awful. We give our friends they best life while in our care and death unfortunately goes along with that. Thank you for sharing and I sobbed because I could feel your love for Cookie and his loss was heartbreaking. ❤😇🙏🏼
It's so sad when we lose an animal that it brings us a lot of joy. I've been through this many times in my life. But when we think about it, we who take good care of these animals with a lot of love and affection, the animals go in peace to heaven. What we should think is that when they welcome the next animal they will be very happy and very well cared for and this could be the other way around.
It would be sweet if there was an way we could reunite with our beloved birds. Until we find out if there is such a possibility, I treasuse the keepsakes left behind. Feathers, videos, pictures, footprints, and all of our drawings of them.

I’m seriously crying now. And the reason is; I can’t imagine how hard it must have been. Birds are so much closer than anybody could even think,unless they own one themselves. I have a conure,and we’re best friends. She never leaves my side,and we’ve been through some rough times together. I can’t imagine loosing her. I wouldn’t want to live without her. In fact,I’d rather die with her than live with her being gone. Cookie was an incredible bird,who lived the best life. Fly high,sweetie pie. 💕

I had 2 birds called kiwi and joey they died aswell. Birds are the best pets to have but people say their not.

This is so heartbreaking too me. Not only because i've worked in the avian field now for the better part of 30yrs. Having "hands on" experience with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey. But also because i've owned MANY different species of parrots over the years. And it ALWAYS brings a tear too my eye when i see one of my birds like Cookie was at the bottom of the cage. That is never a good sign for any bird. 10yrs is a long time for a budgie in captivity some go even longer. Bird are very good at hiding there illnesses right up until they die. They have too evade showing any weakness from predators. And this carries over too captive hand raised birds as well. It's ingrained in them which for the owner makes it extra difficult too know when they are truly sick. My thoughts and prayers go out too you and your loss. It's never ease especially when you've had a bird that long and even more so if you raised them from a chick. Just know you did everything you possibly could too provide him with a good life. And his suffering is over now. God bless.

This reminds me of one of my budgies that died in my hand. Sunny turned 14 at the time, but the behavior was the same as Cookie's.
When I saw the pictures here, the memories came back and tears welled up in my eyes, it still hurts so much after 4 years. There are people who say it was just a bird, but anyone who has experienced it knows how much it hurts. I can sympathize with you

He looked up from the feathers like Cookie and he was hand tame. Actually, all wellies were tame, but I had Sunny the longest. He was one of three that lay in my hand and fell asleep forever

I've been through two deaths, biggy my cat (it used to be my friends) he died of sickness because he never had a jab. And one this year of my dog sanchez, he was buried outside my garden and I know how you feel.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I understand 100% how it hurts. There are no words that can be spoken to end or describe the pain inside we feel after the emptiness of their loss. When we lose them, they take a huge piece of us with them. They are so much more than pets and it doesn't matter what species. They are family and that makes them loved ones too. You will never "get over it" as some have suggested, we only learn to live with the pain of losing them and the pain without their presence. It hurts so much to lose a loved one and it's okay to grieve their loss which, for most of us, is our life time. No matter how much time passes, you will always love and miss Cookie. There will come a time when you will smile from the memories, unconditional love, and his funny antics. It just takes a lot of time but it will come. I hope you can find comfort in knowing, Cookie is with God now, in perfect health and happy. We know this because the bible tells us all innocent creatures go back to be with the creator God the Father! Just as people receive new bodies the animals do as well. Their bodies will be those that were before the fall of creation. When Adam and Eve ate of the fruit, everything fell from perfection. Birds even began singing in a different key! The breath of life that God breathed into Adam and Eve is the same breath of life that God breathed into the animals, except God breathed into the animals first! The bible even speaks of a child placing his/her hand into the hole of an Asp (deadly snake). The animals also spoke before the fall of creation! Remember the serpent spoke in the Garden of Eden and a donkey spoke. God even knows when a sparrow falls. In the book of Enoch, which is one of the lost books of the bible, Enoch speaks of the animals testifying against man at the great white throne judgment! Those who are born-again and have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will spend eternity with our loved ones who went first and that includes the animals!
Romans 8:21: That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. Luke 12:7 - God provides for animals just as for man. He knows when a sparrow falls, none are forgotten before God. Joel 1:20 - The animals cry unto God just as mankind does. Jesus loves the animals! Imagine our love on earth. Jesus has perfect love (agape love), after all he suffered and died an agonizing death on the cross for us. His love for the animals and his creation if perfect and as humans we cannot begin to understand. Proverbs 12:10 - The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but even the kindness of godless men is cruel”. I Corinthians 5:9 - All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes and another of birds." Luke 3:6 - "And all flesh shall see the salvation of the Lord.
I am so thankful my mother and I were able to complete this study, she passed away shortly after. My heart is broken and part of me died too. Thankfully Mom was a Christian and I know I will see her again along with my father (died 1980) and Grandparents. Jesus’s return is close and I look forward to that day! What a reunion that will be! All our loved ones and that includes our pets who were also loved ones! The actual study typed is six pages and due to the size, I can’t post it all. This is a shortened version, God bless and prayers to you also.

I have watched so many of your vids, I know how much you care for the little ones you have taken on, it hurts so much to lose them. There's nothing more heartbreaking then that slow decline at the end when the years are simply too much for them anymore. I recently lost my 23 year old Corn Snake that I raised from a hatchling, I'd had him for 2/3 of my entire life, having gotten him as just a young kid, and towards the end he was refusing to eat, and eventually passed of weakness. But there is solace in knowing we gave our pets as many happy years as possible.
Im sorry to hear about your loss yesterday my childhood dog passed away and she was also refusing to eat and wouldn't move and became very weak
@@unlined_sardine7426 I was very small when my grandma and grandpa got a dog, she was my best friend and when ever I would visit she ran towards me and licked my hands and jump around.She was the smartest dog I ever new.One day she got out and she used to love to chase thing so she chased the garbage truck, unfortunately she was bumped over and he brain and eyes were hanging out of her head 😢😭😭😰 I miss her so much.Her name was tiny because even though she was 10 years old she so so tiny 😭😢😭😭😓😓😓 I'm crying right now but yeah its hard to loose a pet.
I also lost all my gold fish(they died from old age the vet said) their names were
Nemo,Remo,Demo,Memo,Zemo,Semi and the youngest and cutest Oreo 😕😔😓

I know how you feel. My two cockatiels died at the age of 23 1/2 and 25 1/2 ys. I also hold budgies that are not young anymore. It is hard to lose pets.

This reminds me of my budgie that lived 13 beautiful years of happiness alongside me. He was one of my best friends ever since I started thinking, it was probably the greatest loss I have witnessed in my life so far. He looked like Cookie and he was just as brave as Cookie.

The little chaps life was full of love, both giving and recieving. His little life is now gone but yet he still remains in your heart.
So sad to hear this. Our budgie LOVES watching Cookie. She comes over when we have a phone out and asks to watch him. She got out of the house once and in a tree outside. The only way to get her back was to play Cookie. She flew down and sat on my hand watching until we got her back in the house. Thank you for your videos. So sorry for your loss.

It's so hard when we lose a pet we love. I have felt that king of pain many times in my 71 years.
I have had approximately 50 beloved pets over my years. I know I will see each and every one of them someday in Heaven, and that gives me much peace. Our pain eases, but we never forget any of them.

So sorry for your loss. I was literally crying when I watched this. But you gave him a really good and long life, the average lifespan is 8 years so his lifespan was well above average, which means that you really took good care of him!

It's a sad reality that just about any pet we have likely will go before us. As a new parakeet owner, the thought saddens me. But that just reminds me to take good care of him today - enjoy his company. Hope he'll be there tomorrow. And if not... cherish the memories I'll have made with my little feathered friend.

I lost my yellow budgie in September 2022 (officially named Sunshine, but I actually called her Chirpa). I was devastated. She lived 12 years but she still wanted to live. I kept bursting into tears for weeks. I now have two new budgies, a blue one (Blueberry) and a yellow one (Banana). A new story is beginning. I still miss my Chirpa though. She was such a good little birdie, such a sweetheart and my friend. Her photo is on my desktop, so I see her as soon as I turn my computer on and say hello to her each day. Cookie will always be in your heart. God bless.

My budgie, that was almost going on 11 years, passed away a few years back. He was similar to Cookie and spoke a lot of words as well. Seeing this video brought back the memories and completely destroyed me all over again :(

Nah don't let it destroy you, when that happens to me I just think of all the beautiful memories I had with my rabbit without thinking the time he died, if you do that it works better. It's like.. your pet still living just in the good memories you gave each other.

@@hasherrizwan4406 thanks, I'm just trying to look at the positive side of things. Worse things happen, people die in war, and those people have families back waiting for them. Death is part of nature when it comes to a pet or human dying by an illness or big age. After all you gotta be strong in life if you want to survive, both physically and mentally so looking at the bright side of events is a good start to get mentally strong 😀

Oh cookie reminds me of my bird who also stayed with me for a long! And then started sitting on the bottom of the cage. At first I didn’t realize it, but later I started giving him liquid medecine with water and it seemed to only keep him alive for a few days and then…..he literally past away on my own hands……. It was so heartbreaking! And he was the same color as cookie! Cookie did really remind me of my budgie…I hope both of them are happy

Cookie had a full very happy and very loved life. Not stuck in a cage all the time on his own. Just think of all that love and happiness you gave him all his life, and also be contented to know that you can’t love your pet without your pet knowing and feeling that love. He would want you to love another budgie the way he was loved.
I’ve never seen a video like this.. i lost a love bird and even tried resuscitation…your love for Cookie was amazing..I’m so happy you held him until his last breath.. I want a budgie but hate the Lettie go…smile. GOD bless!
I'm sorry for your loss, losing my 13 year old Budgie a few years ago destroyed me, still affects me a lot to this day. It's hard to look past the loss but you have to try & be grateful that it happened.
