Yeah Seung Yoon had a lot of mixed emotions when it came to his father. It’s understandable that he resented his father for leaving him and his mother a long time ago. Seung Yoon didn’t wanted to reconnect with him at all and held on to that anger/hatred towards him. However, as he got older and he’s experienced so much in his life already. He realized that it’s not good to hold on to the past and anger, he has to forgive his father at some point in his life. So 2-3 years ago, Seung Yoon decided that he will reach out and reconnect with his father. He found out that his father had passed away and Seung Yoon felt regret and even anger towards himself. That’s why in this song you see him struggling between anger and missing his father. I honestly want to give him a big hug when I found out about this song and even in this live performance. I understand the mixed feelings of not having my father being present for most of my life. Luckily for me, he was around for my childhood and pre-teens..but then started being in and out of my life when I got older. I know he’s still alive and well cuz I have family friends that are in contact or has seen him around in my hometown. But for Seung Yoon, he can’t talk to him anymore and I think that’s the most toughest and heartbreaking part of the whole situation. Seung Yoon was ready to forgive and get close to his father, but he missed so many opportunities because he held on to resentment/hatred. I hope Seung Yoon can also forgive himself, he was young and hurt when his father left. I’m also sure that his father is proud of that man that Seung Yoon has become. ughhh my heart is breaking as I type this.. 🥺😭

He didn’t elaborate what happened, he just briefly said if he can asked hades for anything (Hades connecting to VIXX’s “Hades” the song and lyrics they were analyzing for that episode) it was to ask if he can meet his father and talk to him. The other MC asked Yoon if he didn’t have a good relationship with his father and Yoon said they haven’t talked or reconnected with each other in a long time. A few years ago he wanted to reconnect with him, only to find out he already passed away. You can tell by how he spoke about it and his facial expression, that he was regretful and still sadness/hurting in his face. 😕

A a non-korean, I can only enjoy and love the melody of this song. But now that you have explained the lyrics in English, it made me sad and realized that this song, though upbeat, is a lamentation. I knew the story of Seungyoon's parents' separation when he was very young because he talked briefly about it in one of his tv programs... so matter of factly, perhaps because he felt so loved by his mom and her family. But this song shows how deeply he regretted those times that he harbored resentment against his father for not being there with him during his youthful years. What is sadder is the fact that when he was ready to forgive, his father has passed away. My dearest Seunyoonie, I hope you will forgive yourself for missing the opportunity to be with your father while he was alive because you hardened your heart. So I guess it is his implicit way to express that himself has been waiting long and now tired of it through the flower which bloomed ahead in spring that year instead of waiting till summer.
