What a great reaction. I love that you aprecciate music that we lack the cultural background to sometimes fully understand. I don't even think Frank would have been mad about the comparisson, at the end of the day, Mdou Moctar definitely asks the conceptual question "what is rock musik". And never was "Shut up and play yer guitar" so truth anyway😂
Tuareg guitar usually tunes the low E string up to G, and Mdou specifically tunes his A up a half step to A# as well. A lot of their music is based on a variation of the minor pentatonic scale - when ascending it changes the minor 7th to a major 7th and when descrnding the minor 3rd moves down to the major 2nd.
What an interesting group. Everyone is so impressive.
Was wondering that,,,when he adjusts sounds like his signal became more overdriven for sure,,, Dude is mind blowing
Such a unique style. Love it so interesting.
Glad you like it!

Thank you for the details on the harmonic approach to scales Mdou uses. I love his playing. Dig Bambino as well.
Love these guys, first heard them on KEXP, but they also have a fantastic video of a show of theirs in Niamey, Niger...
