    Hi Steve,
    This might be a silly question, but how do you know when the drive pulley needs to be changed. I've got at 16+ year old washing machine and I've replaced several parts on it through the years. I've never replaced the drive pulley. While the machine is still functional, the agitator (correct word) inside the drum doesn't seem to turn with as much gusto as it used to.

    my washer keeps saying unbalanced load. It looks like the drum is rocking even when it is empty. How do I diagnose this problem? Thanks in advance.

    Same inquiry as Steve. How do you know when this is the problem? My Maytag makes a loud clicking noise only when rotating. The noise sounds like the clicking when using a ratchet set. The noise occurs when the clothes are being washed, and it rotates clock wise and counter clockwise. Not during the spin cycle. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    How would you know your drive pulley is bad? How would you know when to change your drive pulley?

      Normally the drive pulley would be replaced as a result of damage from contacting the rear panel, usually caused by a severely unbalanced load or broken suspension parts.

      Won't spin at all or as well as it used to. I was able to fix mine by removing the pulley nut and repositioning the pulley tight against the machine. Over time the nut rocks loose and allows the pulley to wobble. This will throw the belt off track and the machine will cease you spin.

    Is the drive pulley supposed to be loose or snug?

    I wish you were my neighbor - there is no way that I can get that pulley nut to budge on my machine......I was hoping that there were some tricks to this

    I have the same model and have during spinning cycle is knocking and walking, is that a bad pulley?

      @partselect  7 років тому +1

      A loose or worn pulley may cause a knocking sound, but shouldn’t cause the washer to move.

      What it can be the possible cause for walking and the tub hitting the side panel in the direction of walking?
