Tik tok is the politicians’ competition. They are invested in Google Apple Facebook Twitter. Tik tok has been crushing them companies in number of views for the past 4 years. Hence why they want to ban it. Facebook went public in 2012. That’s when the ads started and investors bought shares. Including all the politicians. Free ad space.

Totally feel this after fighting 2 different bills aimed at shutting down libraries in my state since this session started, only to have them introduce a third to try to sneak through. Can't have kids being creative or learning things on TikTok OR have them in libraries reading books. 😢

TikTok is not supposed to educate people (it’s videos are usually too short for that), it is supposed to entertain people with mostly mindless content.

Countless women fly in for fly in to see a doctor weekly. But make a joke because a fraction of that number have a different medical issue. Not to dismiss that, it is in need of discussion and decision, but to dismiss one of the world's best medical infrastructures on account of one issue is absurd.

South Dakotan here. Many of us call her "Palin of the Prairie."
Why? An October 2010 article by ABC news titled "In South Dakota: Another Sarah Palin?" because it essentially called her the next Sarah Palin. She hated this so much that she became enraged and has tried to distance herself from it since that day.

In this case, yes.
Unless the average child knows how to use (and pay for) a VPN, change their app store region, and they do so on a mass scale so that content won't be affected, and top creators keep creating content while not getting paid, TikTok will certainly lose relevance.
This is less like "telling them to stop", and more like "telling them they're grounded while also locking their door and window". A kid could still break out if they know how to pick a lock, but most kids can't.
Tiktok does not have to be banned, it can continue to exist if they sell and it won't be under control of the CCP anymore

I logged into Tik Tok once to see what all the hype was. 2 minutes later I deleted it and never gone back. I have a Twitter account and have posted maybe 3 times in 10 years and have never posted since it's been called X. I only have FB to talk to some old Army friends but even then I rarely open the app. The only social media I consume is here on UA-cam and I don't really consider it social media.
Yet here u are commenting on UA-cam, which u had to sign up for with personal details and agree to handing all that over.

Tiktok isn't that bad. It's essentially just user shared experiences and memes. Just like any platform you do need media literacy, but it's no different than any other type of platform.

It's kind of amazing the most out-of-touch from each party is actually correct in their interpretation of the implications of this bill. It’s only being voted on to ban in halls of Congress. I say if you can’t beat them. Join them. They should of sold their shares in Twitter and Facebook and reinvested in tik tok. See that is what it is all about. In 2012 Facebook went public. And they all bought shares. And now their investments have much bigger competition in tik tok. Which has more viewers. They been talking about banning tik tok for the past 4 years. Their investments in Facebook Twitter Apple and google have been general knowledge since they first brought up tik tok bans. They like Facebook and twitter because they don’t have to pay as much as network to run their ads. If any money at all. Anyone can post their political stuff on social sites for free.
