So am i right, that this thing has to have a WiFi-connection to my smartphone while driving? i have another car where the connection is via USB cable to my smartphone and then starting android auto... and another question: where is this device installed? i saw a video, but didn't get, where this box is placed...
You can connect via USB to the device that I currently have installed in the glove compartment. That will give you the option to use android auto; I'm not experienced in using Android auto or apple car play but I believe you don't need to activate your phone's wifi spot to use those apps. I have my wifi on so that the media based apps can be used separately to my phone. Hope that helps.
@@kingroe12345 I actually paid for professional to install so I can't be sure sorry. I dont think any drilling was done, just removal of interior underneath the glove compartment.
@@kingroe12345 so my car has gps, however the vline comes with a gps antenna that I have installed on top of my dashboard. I originally had it hidden within the interior but signal couldn't be picked up for google maps etc. But once I moved it on the dashboard, connection was great! 👍
When I was looking into updating my system with the Tesla style ones, all I could imagine is my wife leaning over and trying to turn the temp down and the ensuing confusion and anger. This will allow an update without danger.
Unfortunately vline 2 is out of stock due to ongoing issues and compatability with lexus is250 that has Mark Levinson sat nav unit. The spokesman on the phone at grom audio says they are trying to resolve it. Its all 2010 models and above with the info tel button. Recently there has been some firmware updates from Grom Audio but users abd Grom Audio UK have not given feedback to confirm if it has resolved compatibility

I've had to unfortunately send mine back as it performed inconsistently. I do think i just had a faulty unit so hopefully you wont have the. Same issues.
@@tweefurs Sorry to hear yours played up. Ive had mine for about 2 years now and it runs great. Camera, apps, GPS etc. Probably just a few times it played up but after their help support sent me an update to upload via USB, its been great for the last 1yr +.
When it was working it did, however it recall the latest Android update stopped netflix from being supported. That may have changed since then. Prime and other streaming service worked fine. UA-cam worked well.

Can I ask, are you happy with the unit after using it a while and would you recommend it now or do you wish you had gone with a different option? How about the factory touch screen. I feel as though it's not as clear or responsive as a modern screen. Is it a big pain or is it pretty comfortable?
@@BeyondTheVeil think of it this way. When it works it really works well. It adapts well to older touch screens without taking away the stock features from the car. I unfortunately had ongoing issues and had to send it back becuse I was constantly restoring and restarting it, unplugging it and it went on for too long. It didn't work consistently for me and that's why I sent it back. But I had huge issues with customer service when I wanted it refunded. In short its a good bit of kit but I wouldn't buy it as it was more hassle than it was worth. I hope i was a rare case and others have had better luck with it

No stay well away as their customer service was shocking and a lot of people sent units back. I don't currently own a lexus so not aware of other alternatives and would just settle with any Bluetooth adapter that hooks up to the aux port and use your own phone for media.
great video, what happens with the buttons around the screen (mao, dest, menu, climate, ....), do they still work? Do CDs work? Do all speakers still work? how is sound quality? Thank you!

Yes all stock features did still work despite all the other frustrating issues I had.

I saw that they had a back order on the site for my 07 LS460. Is the issue you speak of specific to the IS? Thanks

Is the audio still surround 5.1 capable? Or is it only stereo when using Vline?
Yes you can still access stock audio options to alternative between stero or 5.1
When shifting to reverse, will the back camera come up automaticly?
Yes rear camera works

Every button remains working and isn't impacted at all
When using the airco or so, do you have to switch from vline to stock every time?
No nothing changes. Everything stock works when vline is operating as its been used via the dvd player
Can any video be played while driving?
Any app supported by android yes. So far I've used youtube, netflix,amazon prime,cinema hd and vlc player to view my mp4s
