This is an unboxing and install of the GROM VLINE2 interface with CarPlay, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto into my 2009 Infiniti FX50S. This interface allows full usage of the OEM buttons and functions while modernizing the OEM nav unit and radio.

This specific model and year did not come with an OEM USB interface, it did not even come with bluetooth audio. That was not available until 2010 for the FX.

My man Jhae. Heading to pick up my 2011 FX-50 tomorrow. Came across your video. How do you like this vline unit? I haven’t driven the vehicle yet. Have you had any issues with yours so far? Likes dislikes?

Crap man. Sorry just seeing this. It has its quirks but I never finished setting it up. I only use it for Apple integration (CarPlay, podcasts, etc..). Wireless CarPlay works but even in new cars, it’s buggy. Skip the Bluetooth pairing and stick to wired.

It suffers from the hardware it’s running through. Our 2009’s monitor ratio is something like 640x480. Other than the CarPlay audio when on a phone call being terrible, overall it’s been fine.

You said the FX50 needed a couple grand worth of work. What repairs did it need?? I'm interested in purchasing one.

Yeah, the power steering pressure hose decided to burst on me. It lasted my long road trip home but not much longer. The FX used the same fluid for power steering and transmission. And it’s mfg discontinued. So I had to pay for that to get shipped off and repaired, as well as a few other monitor maintenance things. But it’s been rock solid since.

Hey Jhae, great video👍helped me a lot with installation. Got same NIS8 kit for my 09Fx50s (mine's got dvd box in armrest console) all neatly installed, but Vline interface wouldn't display, I press (disc-aux) in circles, system doesn't initiate nor detect vline.. Did this happen to you? How did you solve it? Thx
