TRANS Iowa Low Cost Parlor - 10 Minute Time Lapse Construction Video

Ever want to watch a fast construction of a parlor? This time lapse video shows a Swing 12 parlor being built up to point of equipment installation. The farmer used the TRANS Iowa Low Cost Parlor plans to construct with the assistance of Larry Tranel, Dairy Field Specialist, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, who designed the parlor. These parlors are catching on and in some areas of the country are the most popular kind being built from what I hear, says Tranel, who feels these parlors are not only low cost, but high in efficiency, safety and ergonomics. A well designed swing 12, 15, 16 or 20 parlor is capable of milking 72, 78, 82 and 90 cows per person/hour, respectively.

Would it be possible to build parlor like this as a module in an outside workshop and then anchor to an already existing parlor floor

Yes, this parlor could easily be manufactured off-site in a shop and then anchored to both the floor and outside walls or ceiling for strength. Just the posts in the concrete or attached to the concrete is not enough else it will push from side to side when cows on the platforms. thanks for the question!
