- Apple today released iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4, two updates that come after several weeks of beta testing. iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 add a long list of new features, ranging from updated emoji characters to web push notifications on the iPad.

The only feature of interest is voice isolation for regular phone calls. Do people really still (or ever) get excited about a bunch of new emojis? Apple talks about them like they’re some major thing. I guess I’m getting old. I just don’t see why they’d do releases where a huge part of a release is a bunch of new emojis. Hell, they should just separate those out of the OS entirely, so they can upload new ones whenever they’re ready.

I love the new emojis per update. Everyone’s different. Maybe you don’t care for it because you’re older. Unsure. Not to be rude, just saying but yes all of the features including new emojis I like thus far🥰
They lean into it BECAUSE people go nuts over them so it’s a win/win in that the people that want them get new emoji and more importantly, those people get up to date security patches.

To minor to mention? - I am thankful that they FINALLY fixed the ask before purchase for family members (kids). This was so frustrating when it didn’t work, and it took way to long for Apple to fix……

Is it fixed for kids who only have a watch set up with family set up? I could never get the app download requests so my kids could never download any apps on their watch.

I’m running iOS 16.4 my 14 pro I have experience some problems with the weather widget on my lock screen not working , wifi and mobile data keep disconnecting, apart from those 2 issues iOS, 16.4 has been great

The new app on iPad freeform is rlly nice too !! U forgot to mention it. It’s a really useful app similar to notes but with plenty more options good for taking notes and journaling.
I’m annoyed they got rid of the volume scroll ability on the lock screen when ur listening to music , now I gotta always go to the side for volume or scroll down to do it

That audio isolation works f’in great. Don’t need to hear my girlfriend washing dishes or her dogs slipping up water from their water bowls while talking to her. We are going to test it out with her in a loud fan filled gymnasium next

I got a new iPhone 13, updated to iOS 16.4 and idk if this is just me but my instagram and twitter videos won’t play sound when I click the volume buttons. Snapchat seems to be the only app that they actually work on. But yeah insta and twitter videos won’t play sound; I’ve already tried the ringer sound options where I make my volume buttons control media instead of ringer, I’ve cleared my instagram cache and even deleted the app and redownloaded and still no sound when pressing the volume buttons. Is there anything else I can do or is this some sort of glitch that’s been happening? I’d appreciate some help with a response; thanks lots

I would like to see a duplicates detection system for the Apple Music app. I have nearly 50k songs and tracks in my library and I’ve come across duplicates many times that I wasn’t aware of that I somehow mistakenly created and I always want to get rid of ALL of them but there’s no way of knowing how many I have until I manually stumble upon them.
Another feature they should create is when you hold down on an app to move it, instead of physically moving it around to a folder, perhaps on another page , why not just let us have a mini-menu right there that pops up letting us scroll through all of our folders and select which one to send it to instead of always accidentally dropping it into the wrong folder or messing up the order of some and it’s just annoying and happens often for me.

Stupid new emojis. When all I want is the volume slider to come back to the lockscreen. So I don't have to pick my phone up or slide down on control centre to change the volume... Seriously why did they remove this simple feature for a music player???

I believe they also made Apple Music playlists more compact in size and minimized the pop-up when you add a song to the queue.

Anyone know how to adjust the VOLUME of your
ALARMS?? ⏰ I’m totally not hearing them and oversleeping 😮
When you create a new alarm make sure you go to settings>sounds & haptics>ringtone and volume alert and turn it all the way up. Also you could just set your iPhone to adjust the ringtone/notification volume with the volume keys by toggling the “change with buttons” option right under the volume adjuster in settings. Another thing is to make sure your haptics (vibration) is on in ring and silent mode. That might help with waking you up, if it isn’t already on

Do you know how to fix the text messages portion in iOS 16. Read closely as I explain... since the update of iOS 16. If I send you a photo within the text whether you are an android user or an iPhone user, it doesn’t matter. If I send you 5 photos, only 2 or 3 photos stays within the history of our texts messages camera roll. I can physically see all 5 within our text messaging thread but when i click on “See All” when looking at all the photos we sent throughout the years, I see that all my photos I sent you no longer remains in the history of our texts. Has that been fixed?

Yea, that book page turning really pissed me off.
Apple is now putting out a new release just to keep relevant . The only thing that was worth noting (as many others have noted) is the voice isolation. Removing functions like the page curl and then re-installing it at a later time makes no sense. Is apple that hard up for new updates that they just rehash an existing function or just relocate one.

After updating to iOS 16.4 i’m getting SMS messages in a new conversation (chat) instead of being delivered on the original old conversations.
It’s like I’m receiving a message from that person or company for the first time on my iPhone.
Also released: 15.7.4 for older iPhones
I updated it last night before sleep (I'm in Malaysia). I don't see changes in Books app. I also can’t find the new emoji.
Edit: only self made pdf doesn't have the new feature. My bad.

Well, the update just slaughtered my XR!💔!!! Within three days, I received a message saying I need a new battery! Same usage, same UA-cam usage, now the phone cannot even open two screens if UA-cam is playing a video: ex., no Google search when watching a UA-cam video in the small screen.😢! Did all typical battery saving options in Settings. Phone still freezes! 🤔…my guess…Apple wants me to upgrade and give them MORE $$$$ after dropping nearly $500.00 on a WATCH and monthly watch “Care” cost and a new laptop ($1400.00) and now they want another $1000.00 for a new phone.😢! 😉
After the horrible 16.1 update I’m keeping mine on 15.7 until it’s forced, 16.1 literally fried my phone.

You should have heard how silly you sounded when talking about emojis 😂😂 I think it sounds silly too that I bought a thousand dollar device only to get software updates that focused so much on emojis 😅 I think the animations on my iPhone 12 got smoother though.. at least that’s one thing I see as a benefit
