I've been wanting to say this for quite a while but definitely must do after this vid. I find that the combination of humbleness, knowledge and playing skills that this young man shows in his videos is utterly exceptional and astonishing. Kudos, Kudos, Kudos !!!
This was an outstanding video Jack. Great playing. Excellent analysis on Lukather and his tones. I really enjoyed this one. I hope you do more videos like this. Well done!
I started coming to this channel to check out cool guitars. These days I come for your playing. What I find exceptionally cool is that your playing is so diverse, and every guitar brings out a certain style, and you can actually play it. From jazz to metal. I come for the sounds. I leave inspired. Thank you.
Sound to me so close to Steve! Great playing! BRAVO, Jack! Thanks UA-cam for recommend me your video! I love Steve Lukather as a person and a musician! He is one of my favorite guitar players and vocalists! From falling in love with his guitar tone and style in 2017 begined my obsession with guitar tone, and I started diving deep inside details of guitar gear. I also started to deep dive into music harmony. Thank you for this series, I'll discover it all, cause your playing is really great and representative for what you are trying to achieve!
The funny thing about these great videos is jack always sounds like Jack. That's testament to his own style and part of what makes him a great player imho.
First saw Luke in a Star Licks vid before UA-cam or the internet existed. Searing guitar playing. Never really been a Toto fan but what guitarist isn't a Lukather fan. Really enjoyed your T. O. T. T. 👍🇦🇺
Really enjoying this series guys. But out of everything Jack's playing is awesome. So many of the players you have covered have distinct styles and Jack pretty much nails them all. It's a shame UA-cam won't let you play some of the riffs.
Totally agree with you, would be nice if he could just cut loose and play the riffs, his playing and the sounds are so great. Love this series, and this may be my favorite.
@6:00 on Marshalls. I actually bought my '68 Custom Deluxe like this one because it could do a low wattage Bluesbreaker better than Marshall's own 1974x (which I also owned) It's also a great little amp but more Voxy than Marshally I thought. The celestion in this I think is also a big part of that British tone. Plus this amp sounds amazing at all volumes where the 1974x really needed to be in that sweet spot which was pretty cookin loud. This is my first Fender amp but I really like it.
LOVE my two LUKE III models! Amazing player! Amazing guitars! Thanks for the vid. A Music Man Luke III through a Mesa Boogie Mark V 90-watt head, into a MB Lone Star 2x12 or 4x10 = two of the best of Made In California USA...TONE on the planet.
Amazing vid! Especially love The way the chorus thickens the tone without being too swirly with the overdriven soldano! Great playing and very educational! Thank you! Can you do Larry Carlton please? His acoustic Lead sound ala Smiles and Smiles to Go and his classic 335 album sounds!!
Very close! I was 13-14 when I saw TOTO on their Rosanna era tour. Steve had what I now know as an old guy was a custom switching system . Marshall and Fender amps .On top of his remote was a Tube Screamer 808. Other stuff I could not see that now is more known. Space echos, Eventide 910 in a rack. Great playing
I can't get enough of Lukather......He and Knofler are the BEST.....I am the daughter of a guitarist....he played a Les Paul.....He also played Piano, Banjo, etc.......he did not play the violin.....I am the mother of two musicians, one a purcussionist, the other, plays guitar, banjo, and stand up base... also great with electric guitar......
Great video Jack ,I love Lukather ,I enjoyed both styles , but I really loved the Luke 3, with the Soldano , Im leaning more modern these days , but Im very fickle , that will probably change , your playing was outstanding as always 👍
Dude love your honesty. Everyone's fingerprint is different. That's the beauty of it. I like the 2nd rig. He just did a hilarious 😂 video to wake his neighbor and your tone sounds a lot like his.
I gotta say there's something special about the Les Paul sound... it's very unique that a lot of guitars with HH setup like PRS, Luke, Ibanez still can't touch
"Little take" on Steve Lukather... When Jack plays, he IS Steve Lukather ! Awesome Personnally, I tend to prefer the LP to the Luke, but that's just me...
Hey Stephen, with this series Jack tends to stay away from playing actual songs, rather taking inspiration and playing something of his own that reflects the style and tone of the artist. He never disappoints, it always sounds great!
NICE! re the MM Luke III - not sure if pedals or other make the dif, but that sounds less processed, less compressed, more open and closer to, not totally LP, but "other than super strat" Humbucker tones than Satriani gets out of his guitar + rig, IMHO. impressed!
There's so many things that go into making sounds; who's playing, the guitar maker, pickups used, string types, set-up, amplifier, types of speakers in the amp, and guitar pedals. Daisy chain of two different amplifiers is not uncommon. If I only could get the sound I'm looking for in my Fender guitar, Fender Amp, and pedal set-up
They really are some of the most versatile and iconic amps of all time, so much more that just a riff machine. Obviously they excel at that but when you really spend time with them they really draw something out of you!
Yes, please!!! Mike is my favorite guitar player and musician. I really like listening to a lot of guitar players, but Mike Landau inspires me to look for my guitar voice around his land!
Try the T. Jauernig Bombastortion pedal for some extra gain! That pedal complements other amps, as well as stands on it's own as a Marshall amp in a box.
Luke’s best playing and sounds where Bradshaw era ! Seen him half a dozen times his current sound live is just dull compared ! Bring back the fridge Luke !😎❤️
This guy always does such an amazing job with these videos and thank god for him and my other guy Dagan because I can't stand those annoying Andertons F#cks! This dude is so good at explaining everything, is respectful and one badass guitar player. xtra points for paying homage to the great Steve Lukather who is one of my heros
Dude you NAILED the modern days tones and playing honestly.
I've been wanting to say this for quite a while but definitely must do after this vid.
I find that the combination of humbleness, knowledge and playing skills that this young man shows in his videos is utterly exceptional and astonishing. Kudos, Kudos, Kudos !!!
agreed
In honour of the mighty legend who left us....please do A Tale of Two Tones on King Edward, from the Van Halen I and Balance eras
This series is awesome. - Great playing and tone, Jack!
Your tone with this LP is out of this world!
Loved that you played White Sister! That has one of Steve's most blistering solos ever!!
This was an outstanding video Jack. Great playing. Excellent analysis on Lukather and his tones. I really enjoyed this one. I hope you do more videos like this. Well done!
The music man does it all. Awesome sound
Jack, you are a class act & great player. Thanks for bringing a positive respite in an age of stress. 👍
always GREAT! always ON SPOT! amazing reviews and great playing and sound mastering for final material that we see/hear!keep it up!
Thank you Jack for doing these vids so well and really giving the truth on the eras of these players. Awesome!
Good job man! Thanks for sharing. Luke is someone who inspired me so many times especially when I was a youngster learning how to play.
Love these videos and jack is great guitarist , lovely tone more please
Very cool! Always been partial to his earlier tone and you nailed it! Congrats on your playing- awesome! Cheers/Lars
Awesome job Jack. You're great player in your own right.
Jack you really have a talent and a passion. Always enjoy your videos. Great tones, playing always so much feel. Thanks Jack and Peach.
Just sat back and admire great guitar playing ☺ loved rig one!

I so enjoy your videos. They are always so informative, and you’re quite a talented guitarist in your own right.
I don’t know about lukather’s tone or what not, but what is definitely crystal clear is what a phenomenal and incredible player this guy is. Wow!!!
Awesome ! The LP tone in the White Sister riff is astonishing. Kudos, you make this guitar sing !!!
Killin it as always, Jack. Loved this one!
Killer stuff mate!!! Cheers from Texas!
Love this series! Keep it going...

Great stuff, as usual
Best demo video on UA-cam!, I always watching Peach Guitars and The Trogly's guitar show before buy a new guitar!
Those Les Paul tones! Great choice of Toto tune to use to demo those sounds and playing. One of my absolute favs.
I always say that Music Man Luke model is just about the prettiest modern guitar made. it's just beautiful.
You are a wonderful guitarist, Jack. One of the best I've ever heard
listen to Satriani lol
The funny thing about these great videos is jack always sounds like Jack. That's testament to his own style and part of what makes him a great player imho.

Great video as always Jack. I've just picked up a Luke iii in Fuschia Sparkle and what an awesome guitar it is. It does it all!
Great playing! Nice work!
Very Nice video Thanks
Great playing. I love that Les Paul/Fender honk. Class

great demo! Great Playing!
This had to be done! 🙌🏻
Thank you, well done sir!!
10:05 I'll supply the Love! I play that riff all the time
Awesome! Been waiting for this one!!! :-D
He also had an Ampeg VT22 100w combo that can be seen in some early Toto footage on stage (according to his book, bought by his dad for him)
Great video and dude your playing rules !
dude that green guitar is STUNNING
Lukather used a Soldano preamp in the early 90s. I believe he used it on the Live in Paris in 1990.
👍 X88R ! 😉
From 1988 till 1992.
Boogie for cleans.
Marshall for crunch and X88 R for solos.
In the early days of Toto he played a Les Paul Deluxe and I also associate him with EMG fitted guitars at a later stage
@@0megalul309 And lots of flange 😃
Jacky Boy has a little smile to himself when he starts playing the MM. He knows it sounds the dogs doo doos. Luv Uncle Gazza.
You have a really beautiful touch and taste
The later tones on the Musicman sound great Jack. Really, really close Brother. Great job!
Love this video! White Sister at 8:31 ♥ My all time Toto favorite.
Probably my favorite one yet!
Great playing.
Great job!!!!!!
that 2nd setup absolutely nails it.

hundreds of 68 custom deluxe reverb owners now try the left input of their amp to sound like Jack! ripping tones there.

also great with electric guitar......
Luke's Mesa Boogie rig from the Isolation time period was my fav... Jack get a IIC+ and a few Coliseums "set up real clean" and have another go :)
The playing is great!!! The EBMM LIII is just glorious (I have the HSS version).
One of his main guitars back in the day was a 1978 Mahogany body Valley Arts Strat with Schecter pickups, Floyd and series/ parallel switching.
Great video Jack ,I love Lukather ,I enjoyed both styles , but I really loved the Luke 3, with the Soldano , Im leaning more modern these days , but Im very fickle , that will probably change , your playing was outstanding as always 👍
Could you do Neil schon please
This is a great shout , pretty please Jack.
A great shout and a name already on our list, keep watching the channel and we'll try our best to deliver!
@@PeachGuitars thank you
Ha...not sure which I want most... the Soldano or the MM guit... stunning playing
Dude love your honesty. Everyone's fingerprint is different. That's the beauty of it. I like the 2nd rig. He just did a hilarious 😂 video to wake his neighbor and your tone sounds a lot like his.
You're a great player mate!
Luke is currently using Bogner amplification.
Love the sounds. And the playing. B rig for me.
..if b is for both..🎶💞
Jack's great! And so is that Soldano :-)
awesome
I like Rig 2. modern 80's metal tone. If you are getting a Ernie Ball Music Man for the first time should you get a Sabre or Luke III BFR?
Nailed it!
Thanks for this one. You’re right “Luke” is an amazing player! Great job backwards engineering his tone!
The best Luke's tone is the 80's tone. But he had so much fx and configurations that it would be imposible to explain them all in just one video.
Steve has a new album coming out in February. You see the tune he did with Ringo a few months back? You sound great man. Love the channel
Bruh nothing makes me wanna pick up a guitar more than hearing Nick play
I gotta say there's something special about the Les Paul sound... it's very unique that a lot of guitars with HH setup like PRS, Luke, Ibanez still can't touch
I just bought a Sire Larry Carlton S3 . I would put it up against any Les Paul or Fender Strat made.
"Little take" on Steve Lukather... When Jack plays, he IS Steve Lukather ! Awesome Personnally, I tend to prefer the LP to the Luke, but that's just me...
Yeah that LP with the Fender Deluxe just had a different sound than a Marshall or a high gain option. Makes me wanna play a Fender.
I'm not a guitarist, so I have no idea about Luke's setup. I just love to hear him play!
@G. V. Q The video came up on my home page.
Hey does anyone know the name of the first song played on the LP? Starting at 6:27
I think it's just Jack improvising in the style of Luke , rather than an actual Toto tune.
@@mylespetty1830 If so, then thats one hell of an improvisation! :)
Hey Stephen, with this series Jack tends to stay away from playing actual songs, rather taking inspiration and playing something of his own that reflects the style and tone of the artist.
He never disappoints, it always sounds great!
@@PeachGuitars Totally agree!!!
@@PeachGuitars Yet he played parts of 3 Toto songs.
NICE! re the MM Luke III - not sure if pedals or other make the dif, but that sounds less processed, less compressed, more open and closer to, not totally LP, but "other than super strat" Humbucker tones than Satriani gets out of his guitar + rig, IMHO. impressed!
I can be wrong but what I know is ; Although Mesa is also a Modified Fender , he was recording with specifically Mesa Boogies as far as I know.
I heard Lukather say on that show hosted by Dave Friedman and Mark Huzansky that he only used Mesa Boogie amps on Isolation.
What about his huge mesa boogie rig?
you sound killer MATE !!

always love a Soldano video where the player does anything besides ghug chug chug chug chug chug chug chug
They really are some of the most versatile and iconic amps of all time, so much more that just a riff machine. Obviously they excel at that but when you really spend time with them they really draw something out of you!
Could you do Lukes good guitar pal Mike Landau please?
Yes, please!!! Mike is my favorite guitar player and musician. I really like listening to a lot of guitar players, but Mike Landau inspires me to look for my guitar voice around his land!
Song at 16.45? Thanks!
Could you do EVH tone in the 1984/5150 albums and the F*CK/Balance tones?
Really love that 4 albums 😬😬😬
Try the T. Jauernig Bombastortion pedal for some extra gain! That pedal complements other amps, as well as stands on it's own as a Marshall amp in a box.
Luke has one on his pedal board.
What’s the song he plays with the les Paul into the fender?
Listen to the solo on Boz Scaggs Breakdown Dead Ahead.
White Sister was absolutely perfect.
Luke’s best playing and sounds where Bradshaw era ! Seen him half a dozen times his current sound live is just dull compared !
Bring back the fridge Luke !😎❤️
🎯
CAE 3+SE..♥️
And the VHT's..😍

He doesn’t sound like the 80s, the 80s sound like him!
the price of the Luke III is so indecent for humans
