- Ernie Ball Music Man Steve Lukather L4 HH Maple Top Electric Guitar, RW FB, Gator Burst
Celebrating three decades with Grammy award-winning guitarist and signature artist Steve Lukather, the Ernie Ball Music Man company is proud to announce the arrival of the new Luke 4 HH maple top signature guitar. This fourth instalment in the Lukather signature line of instruments features a lightweight Okoume body, a premium figured maple top with a figured roasted maple neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. The Luke 4 maple top is outfitted with custom Music Man pickup technology, delivering an incredibly dynamic and responsive playing experience. The pickups can achieve an ultra-high-output, powerful, low-end response while retaining a distinctively clean, clear tone at lower volume levels. The Luke 4 HH shares many of the standard specifications of the original Luke guitars, including a double-cut contoured body, a roasted figured maple neck, 22 nickel frets, 5-way switching, adjustable 12db boost, a Music Man vintage floating tremolo and ships in a Mono case.
HUMBUCKING NECK PICKUP
The custom-wound neck humbucker also features a large ceramic magnet and has been wound specifically to pair with the Luke 4’s bridge pickup.
HT HUMBUCKING BRIDGE PICKUP
The Luke 4 HT bridge pickup outperforms regular spec pickups with ultra-high output, more dynamic range, and excellent touch sensitivity. The pickup garners a powerful low-end response while retaining a distinctively clean, clear tone and definition at lower volume levels.
PUSH PUSH BOOST CIRCUIT
A push-push volume knob activates the Luke 4 HT preamp boost and is factory set to 12db. Via a trim pot inside the control cavity, the preamp can be adjusted up to 20db if needed for heavy rhythm parts or high-octane soloing whenever the user chooses.
DESIGNED TO PERFECTION
The Luke 4's double-cutaway design features a balanced, resonant Okoume body for extreme playing comfort. The premium roasted maple neck is beautifully figured and features a soft "V" profile that comfortably fits in the palm of your hand.

Best 👍
The Steve Lukather model is one of the most beautiful guitars made today. Sounds great too.
Couldn't agree more!
My wife just looked at me said " No." 😂 What a beautiful guitar and what a beautiful song. 🫶🏻
Lol
Happy that man,who found a beautiful wife, who always says yes to her husband. )))
@@fender1430I would say buy it anyway but you have to sell during the divorce so you can’t win
Too funny. Sounds familiar.
No wife, but my bank account is looking at me funny.
Sustain is amazing on this guitar. the sound is evenly when moving up an down on the neck. I find that some guitars don't balance well when moving around on the neck when played. Great guitar.
Couldn't agree more!
Beautiful guitar. Your playing is terrific Jonathan.
Thank you kindly!
This is another one of those that are just marvelous and suit ur style perfectly. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!
They always make the best looking stuff.
Aye!!
Hi Jonathan, when you mentioned “it plays like butter”, I couldn’t agree more. Perrrfection in every aspect and has the looks ‘to boot’. Loved the tones and when in boost in position 1 & 2 it seemed even more responsive under pick than in other positions. Great review. Cheers ✌️🎸💜
Thank you Rodger!
luv it Master
✌️❤️
Omg! I could listen to you all day long.
😊 thanks
Love this guitar!!!
Me too!!
Great review Jon! Thank you!
Thank you
That is a stunning guitar. Love every aspect of it.
✌️❤️
SO enjoyable to listen to every time
Thank you so much!
amazing melodic playing!
Thank you
beautiful melody on a beautiful guitar...
Glad you like it!
Wonderful playing! Nice guitar 👍
Thank you big brother.. see y’all later at the live stream
Superb playing and tone....great job! I have the Luke III in Olive sparkle and you just inspired me to play it even more than I already do!
Awesome! Thank you!
Steve Lukather, My iDol
👌
Smooth fingers✌ Good people make happy living.
✌️❤️
Very wonderful balance between emotional feeling and technical acrobatics on the solo track on the demo song
Thank you ✌️❤️
Yes
✌️❤️
Correction, 5 screw neck plates. But we all know that. Thanx Jon. These MM sig. models are all extraordinary. I'm hoping they drop a Rabea sig. in the Sterling line.
lol.. yes 5 screw.. what am I thinking of?
Gator Burst, stunning look. If you have 5K left over
✌🏻😂✌🏻
👍We also need this :). Nice guitars are endless...
Tell me about it!!!
The first song reminds me of the music and guitar sound from Eye in the Sky by Allan Parsons. Beautiful sound. After that wow the tone is so mellow, but with character. I'll have to listen to some Lukather to get a feel how he uses this tone. Great video brother Jon.
Peace from West Texas ;)
Thank you Greg ✌️
I love the headstock design with straight string pull, and a compact size making the reach more comfortable. Neck measurements are a little thinner than I like, but the shoulder size makes a big difference in feel too. It seems like Jon likes it............cheers!
Oh yes I do!!
Lucky to have a Luke 3 in blue sparkle, amazing guitars extremely versatile, love the review.
Awesome!!
In a momo softbag ... like a nice honda civic gt-r
Superb melody and tune
Thank you
Sounds great in Jons hands but that is no surprise! One day i would love to try a Music Man!
You should
It looks like they have a new battery compartment design. I have an L3 with the EMG pickups. Excellent guitar and still playing it. But I did have to replace the battery compartment after about 7 years of use. I love HH on the Luke model.
Cool, thanks
Im not a fan of green guitars but that clear coat is awsome, it gives an almost holographic effect to the dark green flames on the upper horn!
I love the Ernie Ball headstock design and that birdseye maple is beautiful!
Gorgeous clean tones!
How can you not like this guitar...... As a gift from someone..... :D :D......
Totally agree!
@@mylogify I dont dislike it, I just dont like green guitars for some unknown reason, I am pretty sure other colours are available of this model.
"This beatiful guitar from.. *looks at headstock* kek. Beautiful guitar indeed.
Indeed it is!
Lovely play through at the start, sounded great, but I suspect you can make anything sound good!
I have been seriously considering one of these for a while now, so thanks for the insightful review. Unfortunately they are not cheap so might have to sell first!
true...
Jon please do a demo of the Rabea Music Man! That guitar is stunning!
I’ll try
so tasty!
Thanks
A great musical presentation of a beautiful guitar signed by the legendary guitarist of the band TOTO. Have a nice weekend. Greetings Pavel CZ.👍👍👍
Many thanks!!
Dear Jon what is the action of your guitar? I bought the same guitar, but I feel that the frets are too low. Your reviews are really great!
You can adjust the height yourself ✌🏻❤️
That Guitar is a Beauty, I think MM makes the finest Guitars.....what are the main differences in feel between this guitar and your other SL guitar
Not much except the pups… EMGs on mine
@@JonIsJustTooLoud you are a lucky guy
Check out Tory Slusher, or the guy playing a 3 string slide shovel guitar. They have more talent than any Nashville session gear salesman.
Awesome
You mentioned you have the L1 and L2. Did those not have as narrow of a nut?
My L3 is also narrow. I like it personally.
Yes they all do! ✌️❤️
Puny neck and frets. C'mon Ernie Ball, make a version of this fantastic guitar that will appeal to more players. Signed, holding my wallet ready to buy. (And yes guys, I understand this is a Luke sig.)
wait some more...
Totally agree, I owned a III and would have kept it it the neck were bigger as well as the frets
Jon have you done the LS20 by FGN ?
Nope not yet
I have an L1 an L2 and 2 L3s need an L4 next.
Non of the necks on my Lukes are exactly the same.
Luke says it because they are hand sanded/finished.
True.. and all have the famous gun oil finish ❤️
@@JonIsJustTooLoud The original Luke neck was a copy of his Valley Arts Robot neck.
5 screw neck plate🤔
Oops!
Hate the headstock! The guitar may play great, the headstock may be very functional, but I cant get past its appearance! Do not like it! Sounds petty or silly, but will never buy one because of that!
To each his own..
