Emmanuel Lubezki, Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón all started doing their first job in Mexican horror series "la hora marcada" very underrated 80's stuff man, viva Mexico cabrones! 💪🏻🇲🇽
Being from México and reading the comments from a lot people saying that El Chivo it's a big inspiration for em' makes me feel great, man.
We need to believe in our talents as a country and individuals
@@juliocardenas4485 They need to grow out of that toxic nationalism that serves absolutely nothing but their rubbish ego.
ahuevo bro
Chivo es el machín con talento, el negro ni pa la sombra tiene....

As an aspiring cinematographer, the information this channel provides is priceless. Thank you for making this series on the adept cinematographers.
Awesome ! what inspired you to become a cinematographer?
He won 3-peat for cinematography, Gravity, Birdman and Revenant
Such great works
As an architect I liked the video very much. it reminded me the importance of light around us, how it makes us feel. Thank you. Waiting for more :))
Interesting observation! Both architecture and cinematography combine technical knowledge with an artistic approach too.
Plus the main character in tree of life became an architect. Coincidence? I think not!
Please recommend an impactful book on light architecture. What are some ways to use lighting for feeling construction?

I never knew how much range he had. And even with his range he has so much style. I had know idea he did reality bites. I love the Hi8 shots in that movie
"Gravity" brought me here. My only regret is that it took me 8 years to finally see this movie & realize how many geniuses were involved, between the cinematography, the sound mixing/editing, the visual effects & the acting. I can truly see why it did so well at the box office & cleaned up the way it did at the 86th Academy Awards. Just amazing & studying people like this is so inspiring for anyone who has ANY interest whatsoever in audio/visual work.
... very informative channel about filmmaking! your channel deserves way, way more subscription! Lubezki and Deakins are my favorite cinematographers! thank you very much for sharing! more power to your channel!
This channel deserves 100x more views! Amazing taste and great informative compelling videos. Makes you fall in love with cinema all over again.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the videos and found them informative! Appreciate the support.
@@InDepthCine simply superb
great series of videos on some of the top cinematographers today. would love to see more
Thanks for checking out the videos. Stay tuned, I try to release at least a video a week.
i've always wondered how they shot that take in children of men. never saw the bts. this channel is awesome! can't believe it isn't getting more traffic
It's such an amazing shot! There's a more detailed video of the rig they used to achieve this here: ua-cam.com/video/GJprbCuWdHo/v-deo.html
@@InDepthCine thanks!
That one shot was very impressive but the handheld walking shots are too shaky for me & distracting. They could've used a steadycam.
@@mr.commenter7953 that's just Chivo's style of shooting I guess. It's a stylistic choice.
This has been an awesome series. I have loved all of these deep insights on cinematography!
Very very nice, love the gear talk! Looking forward to more my man.
Thanks for watching Rob
It’s true , I’m learning about all the variety of lenses
i love you for doing this video this helped me so much in a very unexplainable way. i hope you make more videos in the future and enlighten us with the knowledge.
The camera work in Children of Men is absolutely amazing and truly inspiring.
Your videos are incredible. Going back through for the second time.
I think the most prominent part is One Take shooting style Chivu uses, it gives a seamless life like experience that’s very engaging and natural.
I love this series! Please continuos with this great work! Learning a lot!
Thank you so much for your videos, they are greatly done, instructive, and a pleasure to watch!
This is my new favourite channel. You’re creating absolutely valuable and amazing work man! Found your channel at the perfect time!
Glad you like it! Hope it helps with your filmmaking in some small way.
Love your channel! These videos are a fantastic and I always finish them feeling inspired. 🙌🏻
Thanks Anthony! Glad to hear you enjoy them. Hope you can use that inspired feeling to create something!
This was so informative and briliant. Im so glad to have found your channel.
Fantastic work! Thank you!
Great work, well done with the tone, pacing, and provided examples. Would love to see one on Rodrigo Prieto
This was so informative! Loved the video essay, can't wait to see more!
It’s true I’ve been taking notes and learning ! I’m feeling inspired to do a few filmmaking videos on my channel aswell
Great video. I would like to point out that the decision of how to frame and how long the shot should be are often decided by the director. Yet it is also possible for the DP to work with the director when deciding how a shot should be framed and the length of the shot.
Love these videos!
Lubezki is like Deakins: every film he shoots is a work of art.
Noooo
I do not know Mister Lubezki but I have enormous admiration for him. I like that he is so well thought of in the movie industry. This short feature is enormously informative and gives us mere mortals a peek into the reasons why films look the way they do.
my god i stumbled upon your channel so randomly and i am a huge fan. subbed and binged!
Same ! Literally I’ve been taking notes ! Are you a cinematographer?
@@jv8studios trying to be :p. Don't think i'll be anything except a "videographer" for the rest of my life though lmao.
@@OmarOmarOmar hey you got what it takes to be great ! Keep pushing !
Love this!!
Thank you so so much for this content. It's very valuable information and well-edited. I wish the best success for your channel.
The greatest DP ever. Deakins is the most popular but Chivo is godly in his work.
i`ve found that lubezki is the popular choice, everyone is a chivo fan, roger is also more subtle in is movement, but more impresionistic in his lighting, emmanuel`s work is stunning but since his colaborations with mallick his films tend to look very similar wich each other.
Nykvist may be better than both, but yeah all three are masters of their craft
Deakins' work is more varied.
great work on this vid!
wow! how did I not find this channel before. The Best Quality content out there .
Love your South African accent brother 🙋🏾♂️. Great insights as well. He's my favourite cinematographer atm
Thank you for doing this. I watched it a few days ago, and I think it changed the way I see…everything. I’m trying to hang on to that.
Just discovered your channel. I am happy I found it. Keep up the great work.
Fantastic breakdown!
Sounded really nice when you send "Late Eighties"...Great vid!
no mention of the cat in the hat? lol
cat in the hat will always have a special place in my heart.
Yes... thanks for this, cabrone. Somewhere I have a shot from my personal day 1 (at precisely 9:05)... there are only 5 courses of the eastern (left) block tower standing in my photo.... So we had to build the rest of the thing around it (scenic carpenter, there, then). Yes, immersive. FABULOUS to see how Chivo made it all work. Great series, In Depth Cine.
Such a good video and explanation.
Chivo is my greatest inspiration. Great video
This is interesting and calming at the same time... 🥰
Very enriching. Thank you!
Excellent! Thank you!
Great video, thank you!
This is pure gold.
Love your contents
This channel is pure gold
Could you please do one of these videos on cinematographer Steve Yedlin? The DoP for _Looper, Knives Out,_ and _Star Wars: The Last Jedi?_
really enjoyed this- thanks!
this was really an "In Depth" analysis, thanks
Wanted to comment on your last observation: Chivo's photography does immerse you deeply into the movie, the viewer cannot criticize it, I agree. But it goes another way, his work is so beautiful and outstanding, I find myself analyzing it when watching the movie, not criticizing but trying to understand how this fluidity and beauty are possible. I still don't fully understand what he constructed for that car scene in the Children of Man...
Amazing breakdown.
Really enjoying this series! If you could do one on Rodrigo Pietro before Killers of the Flower Moon, that would be great
10:00 "I think Chivo's able to achive this..." nice
amazing ... thank you
he's a household name amongst the households that love film
Can you do one on all of Iceland's heavy lifting in movies. The long magic hour, the landscape etc
Really well done video! Chivo is the best of all time! Love his explanations for doing things.
Chivo is Spanish for goat, G.O.A.T. 😸
Moreeee! You are so good =)
Amazing video
great....thanks for sharing information
As an engineer I joked that reality is Bandwidth x Dynamic range. I love Lubezki!
One of the best channels on UA-cam
So good, his job is very impressive 👌
This man is incredibly underrated.
Nice video man!
🙏
what a total dude i love his style big time
awesome, thanks
this one makes me proud.
perfect🌻😇
the legend himself
Nice video thanks for the great content 👌
Excellebt channel. Very informative and polished style.
Thanks for watching!
Now I've watched them all.
Incredible
Thank you so much for this. I am a fan of Chivo.
Great Video!
🙏
Chivo es UN chingon, thanks for your channel, looks of good info dude.
Thanks for putting in the effort to make this video! Mihai Malaimare Jr. would be an interesting one
That's where we differ. I enjoy grain in films. Its almost a silent character that you just feel when done right. I get his theory. I really enjoyed the revenant. I'm not going to say It needs grain to make it better.
A lot of movies today almost take me out of feeling because they're so clean
I like extream shots in movie Reverent.Dicaprio is the only man of act i thought when i saw that movie.Nobody can act as him that charactor.I freezed in mind actually. Its cinimotography was one of great thing even if wide lence has used frequently some unwanted scenes.
You missed Birdman in the list of featured films. Great video!
Currently the best for me. but I have really enjoyed the work of Adriano Goldman (Brazil) and Rein Kotov. Thanks for the channel.
Muy buen video
A+
Thanks sir I want to see more videos
Thanks for watching! I try to upload 1 or 2 videos a week depending on my schedule. You're welcome to subscribe to see more videos.
Arri makes very good prosumer cameras.
Love to see a video about the style of Dean Cundey. DP for John Carpenter.
I'm a big Lubezki fan and I loved the video. But I think you could've talked about another aspect of his work. Despite having a naturalistic style as his signature, he sometimes breaks this aesthetic in favor of the needs of the project, like for example "A Series of Unfortunate Events", "A Little Princess" and "The Cat in the Hat". Although he also used diffused lighting and wide-angle lenses, he chose a more fanciful style for these films
master of wide angle
grande Chivo !
I am really Impressed by your work! You inspired me to create videos too. I am wondering where you have your movie extracts from? Screen Recording films should be a little bit illegal :D I would be very glad if you could answer :)
why screen record when u have the movie itself?
Children of Men! So damn good!
I fucking love u man.
