- The original is back! This is my video for "English Sunset" by the Moody Blues, from the 1999 album "Strange Times." This video uses concert photos taken by members of the Moody Talk and Traveling Eternity Road message boards.
Terrific song. I don’t think Justin Hayward has ever written a bad song. All his songs are great.
He is the sexiest man on 🌎 earth!!!! Just love, how he sing's, so soft and lovely.♥️♥️🎶🎶🎶🥀🥀🥀🥀...
Can someone...anyone...tell me why this man is one of the sexiest men on earth? Besides his gorgeous music and voice, his gentle personality caught me early in life. He's in his 70's and I STILL sigh to just look at him.
He's English.
@@jacquelinemoore6610 I can't disagree. My husband's English; best looking men in the world
No shit greatest music
@@thomaschladil4618 Justin Hayward is a wonderful musician as well as a very handsome man. Of course it is the music that matters most, of course the Moodies are a great band. Undeniably. I think we were having a bit of fun.
ONLY ONE OF MY DARLING....I HAVE TRAVELED THE GLOBE & FOUND HANDSOME SEXY MEN EVERYWHERE...
😇🙏😉💖👁👁
So up beat that song just hits a cord with my spirit...thankyou
I got started with the moodies back in 72 they are my fav. group.
Start 1967 got though my teen years, playing base in a teen band at hotel Evans in the Catskills NY
thank you 410 days in hospital and many dark places .this saved my life.
I think this is the first time I've heard this song by The Moodie's and love it right off the bat, fantastic...
Five minutes of great entertainment. Great song. Great band . Sound as good today as they did in the late 60's and early 70's
Legends. Enjoy them while we still have them. 🎸🎸🎸
I want to ride the range
Across those skies of black
I want to see for myself
And see me coming back
And when I’ve gone the distance
I’ll be making tracks
For an English sunset
We’re on a runaway train
Rolling down the track
And where it’s taking us to
Who knows where it’s at?
But if we hold together
We can make it back
For an English sunset
We want an English sunset
I feel the rhythm of the earth
In my soul tonight
May it never fade away
And I’ve decided I can live with humility
And the sad decay
‘Cause that’s the English way
We keep the faith alive
In everything we do
And at the end of the road
You still keep coming through
And though it’s sad and sorry
What else can we do?
It’s an English sunset
An English sunset
I feel the rhythm of the earth
In my soul tonight
May it never fade away
And I’ve decided they can wait
For the requiem
We take it day by day
‘Cause that’s the English way
I saw the English sunset
Thanks for posting the lyrics! 😌
Jill Campbell Absolutely! It’s my favorite song from Strange Times.
Thank you.
Love this song, but I love anything by The Moody Blues.
Why this song wasn't a big hit is beyond me, But musical tastes in radio and the publics were changing. Excellent construction that incorporated the Moodies with some Beatles thrown in, makes one of Haywards finest songs...
Over fifty years I've been listening to these guys.
How great is this? A Moody Blues song I had never heard before! I did not know there was such a thing! What I would not give to be on the drums for this song. Incredible rhythm with room to create and improvise.
Justin Hayward projects love in everything he does! ❤😊
I really love this album.I was a fan of this band from the early days of 1964.My favorite album by them in the early 1970s was Seventh Sojourn. When they released the Strange Times album in 1999 they had created a perfect album.
HAYWARD IS SUCH A CLASS SONG WRITER
Hi DDARKSHARK.I dont think it is being biased to say so either. He can write and play so many different types of song. Thanks for your reply .All the best Maurice
Justin Hayward is a very talented British musician, and "English Sunset" more than ever proves it once again! Thanks, Justin, I saw you in Florida with the Moody Blues circa 2002!
What a great track! I bought Question in 1970 and it changed my life forever, but I have only just discovered the Strange Times album and can't believe how good these songs are. English Sunset is nothing less than a love song to England and it's a gem.
The Moody Blues were the first band I was introduced to. And I'm damn thankful for that.
Was playing this whilst drifting on a narrowboat on a summers evening watching a train go over the viaduct....awesome
My favorite -SONG 🎵 IS SOOOO GOOD Sung so well played as one they did it...I'm so happy they did....England Produced some of the BEST
this song is very addictive, be careful.
Ive 2 copies of Strange Times one I obtained from their Millenium concert tour in 1999 and the other I inherited from my late brother when he left us in 2017 love the album and its great tracks including English sunset and The Swallow which Justin plays on his solo tours and the beachy endless time cover..great video to portray this classic track, English Sunset. 🌅
I have seen them 17 times, they just get better!!!
Hello friend.how are you doing today?
MOODY BLUES= excellence to the MAX!!!!!!
LOVE THE MOODY BLUES 🎶 & SEEING JUSTIN HAYWARD LIVE. IN " KENT THEATER" KENT, OHIO. 😍😇😇😇💞🎸🎸🎸🎸☺😊
I love this song. Strange Times is a great album, and it was good to hear them playing what THEY wanted to for a change in so many years of letting record labels push them around. You have also created a really great video to go with it.
That was never the case. They had no need to allow record companies to push them around. They used that as an excuse when what they wanted to do didn't work.

The best there is never get tired of listening to the moody blues I saw them in concert at least 30 times rip ray
I love this tune!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been a Moodys fan since 1968 !
I guess that dates me.....
Justin Hayward's a brilliants song writer/singer and doesn't age! Long Live The Moody Blues! Thanks for all the great music! GOD BLESS THE MOODY BLUES!
Great photo montage too, thanks for postin, retrolisa!
Wonderful song - the Moodies back to their best
"More tea vicar" love it. Brilliant again from Moodies
Or perhaps another cucumber sandwich would go down well !! Steve UK
Always reminds me of driving along the back road from Felixstowe to Ipswich and the magnificent English autumn sunsets over the Orwell Estuary. No matter how many places I go, at the end of the travels I always find myself making tracks for an English sunset.
heard this tune performed live at a local casino a number of years ago....felt then this contribution one of the Moodies best...
i grew up with an 8 track tape of "on the treshold of a dream" i wore it out along with my tires on my 70 challenger. I just heard English Sunset on christmas day....my ancestors were british.
Hello friend.how are you doing today?
such a great album. Right up there with the very best. The recording and mastering is superb, and the songwriting really bears the hallmarks of all band members. They should really have followed this up.
Definitely should have followed this album up. Strange Times was a brilliant return to form. Scary to think this album is now 20 years old.
What a wonderful song lyrics sky 🎶 let's go to England someday
Great song. Proves the MBs were fully capable of blending their sound with modern electronic. I really wish this whole album was of this quality.
They were one of the first bands along with the Beatles to use loops .... via the Mellotron.
Very beautiful song
Feel the beat of awesomeness. God bless the moody blues
Love this song, it's unbearably catchy! By the way, to anyone who ever rides the train, I highly recommend listening to this while doing so -- it's perfect train music!
The first time I heard this was the first time I saw them in concert. Great song!
a buddy of mine turned me on to this song.
i'm glad that he did
Can’t get it out of my head! Find myself singing it all day.
I first heard this song when I saw them live 10 years ago..... Been quite enamoured with it ever since.
Hello friend. how are you doing today?
a big song a big group
Remarkable song on a great comeback album for the Moodies. Nearly at Long Distance Voyager level. The bridge here is killer.
There are so many layers, starts off with one sound, then another. More than most of us could ever imagine.
Jill, like I said before, the Moodys were the first group to record in quadraphonic stereo. if you listen to them on a four channel receiver or better still with good quality head phones their sound will blow you away.
i consider this song vey good and one of the best of moody blues.
Great Song!!!
I LOVE THE MOODY BLUES HOW I WISH THEY WOULD COME TO MEXICO!!
I LOVE this song! I could listen to it forever! Thanks, retrolisa! (I'm CarolMoodiesFan)
Our Veteran Cosmic Rockers...
Attended one of the Moodies' concerts when Justin introduced this new tune - to the audience - sounded great then, sounds great now..
Yeh great tune. Know what you mean, it still sounds fresh. Don’t think this tune will ever date.
I hope for the simplest things and One and forevermore
Thank you Retro Lisa. Great video slide show. Lovely song!
Nice Work. I love this song. My favorite recent years Moody tunes.
I see it with eye to eye BELIEVE BREATH IM THERE
Time...it's all Head travel experience another lifetime ahead we Go!
These guys were better than the Beatles and more creative once Justin Hayward arrived and got together with Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder and Graham Edge of the original Moodys and then John Lodge who joined soon after. This transformed the Moodys ;in my opinion as the greatest transformative group in the modern Rock history..
Love this song, and I'm Scottish! Lifelong Moodies fan tho.
Timeless sounds

This really is a bad ass song
This song and its album came out in 1999, huh?
You know what I think? I think this might be a good one to cover on _The Millennium Museum_.
