Moody Blues - The Promise (fantasy mid-70s LP)

- An attempt to construct a fantasy mid-70s Moodies LP with the "classic 7" Tony Clarke-style cross fades. Just a fun little "what-if".
To be clear, this is all in fun. I'm just pretending this is a mid-70s Moodies LP. Not a big fan of the solo releases as whole albums, so this is a fun way to listen to the tracks I like. If you like it too, that's great!
Was turned on to the Moodies in '70 with my first smoke... HEAVEN!!
Listening to OTTOAD and TOCCC for the first time with some fine smoke made me feel as though I was finally home after a very long time away. Thank you for this compilation. The Moodies are timeless and have gotten me through many hard times. I have seen them multiple times and would see Justin or John in a heartbeat.
🍀Cheers 🍻🍺 I'll Drink2That🍀
I am an Astro photographer. I take pictures of the night sky. The Milky Way and all the deep dark and light objects of the night sky are my canvas. The Moody Blues are my inspiration.

Then were/are really the magnificent Moodies, which this collection shows, a mix of single members, both those alive and those who has taken the step into the light ❤
As a massive Moody Blues fan I give you a HUGE thumbs up on this effort. I’m sorry I’m just now finding this in 2024. I totally enjoyed this.
Another fabulous recording by the Moody Blues. We were lucky to be alive to hear them. I became a fan in 1972. I love their orchestra backup.
There aren't Moody Blue's songs, but solo works by Ray Thomas album and Blue Jays (Justin Hayward and John Logde) album.
@@eduardoluizdemello8033 Also, "The Seed" and "The Promise" are from Mike Pinder's solo album "The Promise."
Every now and then I come across a compilation like this that includes some material I had never heard before, and it is all good. The Moodies are my all time favorite band. So very glad Justin and John found their way to become members. I can not imagine what other music would have captured my attention if not for the Moody Blues. Saw them live some twenty five or so times from 1978 to the final residence at Las Vegas in 2018. Still see Justin and John solo when they are nearby. Met John at show in Hartford CT in early 2020. R.I.P. Ray and Graeme.
Your Wonderful Life! 👌
Glad you included 'Who Are You Now?" from the Bluejays album. The song is one of my favorites. I sang it to my children as a lullaby.
I like your choices of tracks on this fantasy album. I have been privileged to see the Moodies 8 times live. They have a wonderful catalogue of songs that I have taken joy and comfort from since my teens, and I am 68 now
When I first saw this, I thought it was an album of theirs I hadn't heard of. I thought I knew them all. Then I read more comments, and I was like- oh...
Not sure what I'm hearing
Brought up on the Moody's, and I still love their unique sound. Used to lie on the floor with side 2 of Threshold of a dream playing over and over on the radiogram, awesome album! Big thanks to my older sister for introducing me to them.
Thay didn't brake up they just got old and started having health problems some died so sad greatest ban ever no one else like them ever again lissomed to them sense the 60s
Awesome band few can match them in all they created in their music.👏❤️
"The Seed" and "The Promise" are from Mike Pinder's solo album "The Promise."
From Mike pinders solo album the promise. Then Justin Hayward and John Lodge Blue Jay's..all superior music that no others could ever match. They we're one in a life time. Glad it was mine. What a blessing. The Moody Blues..
.Forever.
AGREED!🤩🕊🦋🚣♀️✌
🎶❣️🎶💙J's tracks; stunning are they not 🎸🎸
@@neilcarlson661 missing When You Wake Up, but this is good.
There are so many Moody Blues songs that are so underrated. This is one of those. It fantastic 😊❤️🎶❤️🎶
Moody Bluer since mid-seventies, knew all their songs by heart. Made me a better person inside, not perfect, but better.
0:27 THAT IS QUITE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT BECAUSE THEY PUT OUT 21 ALBUMS
........ ANOTHER LONG LOST GEM OF BEAUTIFUL MUSIC.........!!!!!!!!!!
Great compilation. Good Job!!!✌️🙏
Don't care about how you came up with this, IT'S GREAT.
Being a Roger Dean devotee, noticed cover immediately. Love the whole concept.
Nice effort to have a flow in song's transitions.
You really worked to get this together, and it flows wonderfully.
Good man.
Bless each and everyone connected to this, and keep that CAB (crazy a__ed bit__) from bothering anyone or anything to do with this effort. Let her find the Creator and the end of the world elsewhere, with her bizarre comments.
This was and is nice.
Their music kept me half way sane in Pusan Korea, in 1969-1970 where i was blessed to go after being drafted in 1968 . It beat the hell out of 5 of my graduation class of 1966 that were killed in Viet Nam
I guy in our MP unit was nice enough to allow a lot of us fellows to tape his 33 and a third albums onto an Anki full reel tapes.
I fell asleep many nights having has to much to drink with my headphones and the tapes still running, when the fire watch came by.
I wish I could remember what this name was, look him up and think him.
their music was magic for me.
.
unbelieving lovely job, congrats , you caught the essence and brought it back to us.......grateful for you for life ,.
✌❤N' Rock&Roll,,,ReallyDigsMySoul😎
This Morning's pianist is fabulous! Best song..Blue Jays.
How did I miss this album? Some of the songs were on Justin and John's album, the Bue Jay's. Awesome
It's custom made..not an album.
I heard a similar What If post Beatles album some fan did years ago, called the Black Album
It certainly bends our preconceptions of these commercially successful musicians!
trust a pussy to say that...
the "blue jays" album, i love---so much good emotions and melody---WORDS!----also bought the Ray Thomas --deep beautiful voice---i am not familiar with Pinder, so will listen now to "the promise"
I had all this in Highschool on album 1972&73 &74!
Nights Winters Years is emotionally overwhelming.
I agree 100%
Promises are meant to be broken...empty promises 🙏
FOREVER Moody Blues Justin Hayword the angel voice 👍
Good thing ... listen 2 older 1s. They r more fitting the time now then ever ... love is the way ...
Promises are to be kept God cannot LIE I'll follow his ways best I can I'm disappointed in myself at times
wow that's a great compilation, I love all the pieces you choosed.
beautiful Moodys.
Amazing indeed...
Thanks an A for the hard work and effort!! There is a similar composition out there by another but he called it a new WORK...and was slapped around by those who must belittle rather than praise
Love it, wish they would record more original songs together. But this is close. :-)
Bästa❤ moody blues
This was the album cover from John Lodge’s Natural Avenue.
A Pinder Lodge Hayward rejoining and recording together would be pretty incredible. Maybe?
Sounds great but looks like Covid has brought a lot of classic rock musicians to the end of their careers. Most are now in their mid to late 70’s and a few, if not already retired, we’re on farewell tours. Pinder wouldn’t do it but Justin & John could do a Blue Jays in the studio at least.
Read an article over two years ago interviewing them and they said flat out they had no interest in creating any new music, they were done. I was sad to read that, seems they are now locked into just touring their catalog. It might have to do with how few folks actually buy new music these day and artists make very little from streaming services. Some bands do not recoup the cost of recording and producing a new release.
@@QBandBookingKC sad!
Yes, and add Nora to the mix as a full member!
We can dream of such a reunion. I would imagine I'd died and gone to heaven to hear such a reunion. Truly, it wouldn't be the same without Graeme (the heartbeat of the band) and Ray's lovely flute.
Beatcrazy: great effort!
❤. MJB. RIP
Rip Ray Thomas
yes my favourite l met him a lovely man he was so humble
It's a wonderful concept thoughtfully and creatively arranged and complied. You are far too modest about what you've created. I love it, it's gorgeous, it's magical. Well done friend.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate this. :-)
@@beatcrazy180 there are some ungrateful misled begrudgers out there. I put this on my mp3 for long walks that don't feel as long listening to this thoughtfully compiled collection. Truly beautiful. X
I'll be there believe praying for you don't fret in my Heart and mind God speed till we meet on the other side I wait
I recall the 3 major news networks each covering the abandonment of their follow up Lp recording project to Seventh Sojourn (as Tony Clarke halted any further efforts on his part) with reportedly tracks in various stages of completion destroyed. I’ve always wondered if any of those compositions had resurfaced later as solo material. Guess we’ll never know.
.... at fist glance Ithought I as listening to a YES album .... ´cause the sleeve design ..... by master ROGER DEAN ....
Love this compilation thankyou
i havent listened to this yet but it seems reverential to the sound so far. I'm with it
Very nice. I wish the people who are criticizing you about your cover and "album" name choices would chill. I do a lot of volunteer work running singalong groups and such. I'll suggest to them what I'm sometimes forced to say to people who criticize my choice of songs or how I play them -- if you can do it better, nobody's stopping you. Be thankful someone went took the time and effort to organize this music.
What a great thought exercise. Is there anyone who wouldn't wish this were an album on their shelf? How did it take this 5 years to appear in a Moody Blues search (came up in a mike Pinder search)? I was introduced to the Moodies in 1972 and been listening faithfully ever since. 'Blue Guitar' sums up so much about this band for me. Nice album art too! I think what you've done here is restore the balance of the whole that is sometimes lost on the individual (solo) efforts. I'm ordering this on Discogs!
19.38...magnifique !..
Gee thanks :( some of us already have flashbacks and deja vus and memory problems from the stuff we took listening to this this the first first time, BUT at least now when the V.A. makes me see a therapist I WiLL HAVE proof and I can just play this :) "Peace Takes Practice" thanks. Rick
Ok it all makes sense now. NICE WORK!
great music from the best
Awesome!!! I Love this.
Thank you very much, good work!
I get it that you are a big fan of Mike Pinder, so the tracks included here make total sense. I like the opening track for sure. Mike has great themes but Justin's melodies and lyrics are a slight step above. Together they were the defacto Lennon (Pinder) and McCartney (Hayward) of the MB.
Always great music (: !
I support your idea Beatcrazy. I did the same by inventing a band called Goddess some years ago. Their "discography" consisted of Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Caravan, Van der Graaf, crazy!
love it!
Awesome job! Dedicated hard work from a real fan! However, some constructive criticism is required in order to stimulate further improvement of the album. Summer Breeze, Blue Guitar, Carry On, Who Could Change and Friends are not Moody Blues style compositions and sound out of place next to the other excellent choices made here. I can't believe that you past over songs like "Adam And I", "Message", "Nostradamus" or "Remember Me, My Friend" which sound more like they belong on this Moodies Album! But everyone has their own likes and dislikes and choosing mostly the best songs from each of their solo albums shows us WHY they were such a great combination of personalities! Each one supports the other like a jigsaw puzzle. When you get the right group of people together, magic happens!
I think that "Adam and I" is one of Ray's very best songs, so I wish it was a part of this.
beatcrazy180 - This is much, much better than your other attempt at a mid-70s fantasy album (Children of the Ever-Guiding Light). I agree with many of your choices on this one. Thank you for your efforts.
Agreed! This is better.
Excellent!
Great work. Almost should be a Moodies album.
Missing Grahame Edge though. Maybe something from Kick off your Muddy Boots? But really great.
Not the same without Ray Thomas(flute and singer) here with the Moody`s, sadly missed by all, R.I.P Ray!
RAY ISN'T RESTING.....WE JUST BECOME BUSY ON THE OTHER SIDE....😇😇😇😇🌟💫💫💫💫💫💫💫🌷💖
It is indeed the John Lodge album cover. Just as I used existing songs from those albums I used artwork as well. Plus used the name of the Mike Pinder album. It was basically an exercise in using what existed of each member's work in the '70s to try and bring it together as if it were a band project. All in fun... :-)
Great work.
I love the Moody blues and some of these songs sound like the whole group. The only thing missing is the harder songs like story and I'm just a singer and see saw.
I know those songs were earlier. But that edge is missing.
Thank you…..let’s hope for a place in the future
Very interesting, I searched in the discography of the band in Google and wiki, still can't find this LP
A similar & fantastic Yes album would be devised with special selections from solo Rick Wakeman, Jon Anderson, Steve Howe and Alan White albums.
Mike Pinders album, not MBs?
The Moody Blues are Middle Earth's Modern Bards.
Excelente y buenísimo
I could be wrong but i am sure i have this album cover and its an album called natural avenue by John Lodge
Correct. Same cover art, by Roger Dean.
Ray Thomas was a phenomenally talented but underused, underappreciated, wasted asset.
new sub Siempre atento amigos gran espacio likeee!!!
EVERY GOOD DESERVES A FAVOUR / TODO BUEN MUCHACHO MERECE UN FAVOR / TODO BUEN MUCHACHO MERECE UNA BENDICION
This is not "The Promise" which is an album by Mike Pinder. (ua-cam.com/video/gSYismCiX14/v-deo.html)
Not sure where this came from but it's a nice compilation, perhaps not the best choice for a name.
Why am I getting ads in between songs?
Amy Weber
They are trying to find out what you REALLY hate ! ! !
Thank you for the compilation, though it would be helpful to make it more clear which song is from which album. Crediting these solo works to the Moody Blues is also a tad deceptive.
That said, this is very well made, I like the transition between songs 2 and 3, and overall it has a consistent feeling, as if it were not merely a fan-made greatest hits.
I don't pay much attention to which albums from I just like to enjoy the flow of the music
While I do love it. Thanks. Within minutes I thought of When you Wake up from Blue Jays. No Graeme? He had 2 solo LPs. Human, Paradise Ballroom, 1/2 of Kick off you Muddy Boots. Ray's Last Dream. Justin's One Lonely Room, Nostradamus, Doing Time. Love the choices off of Natural Avenue. Hey, make another one.
Why are we being blocked from contact do you know?❤
SUBLIME
I have all MB's albums, How did I miss this one? Where did it fit between the issues of the others in the 70's?
This is custom made. Not an album.
As a huge MB fan from the heyday, and as a musician, I looked forward to hearing this "fantasy", But with small exception, these songs and performances are quite weak. And Beatcrazy Bob the Uploader didn't even include the M Pinder song of the album title in his list-- The Promise. Kind of a fail here, sorry to say.
Bullshit. You talk nonsense.
EL AMEN~Selah !!!!!!!!
Some of Hayward's guitar on Blue Guitar makes me wish he'd played like that more often and that some of his work with the Moodies had been extended a bit. Other parts though ... the solo at the end is a disaster. Note the Dave Gilmore sound overall.
it's a mike pinder album from 1976 not moody blues
Mike Pinder solo. None of the Moodies were present.
sooooooooo is this actually moody blues orrrrrrrr
Zack the murderer. 5:59
Sadly, the post Moody solos can only be appreciated by cherry-picking the "best" cuts as here. The individual efforts have a lot ot tin & not much gold in them..

Fantasy mid-70s LP, my ass, post your compilation as a compilation. Down-vote.
Fantasy. FAN-TA-SY. Get it? MY fantasy to boot! I'm not claiming this is a real
album, it's just a bit of fun.
Jesus, some of you people are taking this SO DAMN SERIOUSLY, it's hilarious. "Down-vote" all you like. Knock yourself out, man.
I take things seriously. What´s wrong with that? Down-voating is a bitch, but then again, with som effort it could be a winner. Come on you idiot, when you post to a community you should be aware of the possibility of disliking of your thing, especially when it only is about stealing and rearranging. Most of the contributors here are people I and others thank and cheer, look for clews. So what´s wrong with taking thins seriously? I don´t take you seriously, and then you complain. ??? (rhetorical)
Awww, you're cute. *smooches*
There you go again, Josef Nagy! You should change your name from "Nagy" to "Nasty, Mean-Spirited, Unpleasant, Abusive Troll". This is a harmless, enjoyable compilation (not claimed to be an album, and certainly not "stolen", you idiot), which can only serve to bring enjoyment (and, who knows, a bit of further publicity for the band) to the music fans who watch it. You have vented your horrible, semi-literate ramblings on to other UA-cam offerings of a similar nature, and I for one am sick of seeing them, like ugly blots spoiling a beautiful landscape. Now go and listen to some music, and don't bother responding - I know from experience that anything you say will be drivel.
Why would I change my name? I´m proud of my name, not like you who obviously are ashamed of your own. It takes a man to stand up,, it takes a shithead to hide behind a nick.
Gay
How brave of you to come out on You Tube. 🎉
Now you're using music from the blue jays album. Stop trying to make something. Leave The Moody Blues and Blue Jays music alone. They can stand on there own without your help.
Taking this a bit seriously, don't ya think? And...um...I can do whatever I want, thank you.
Steven Hill - If you don't like it, move on, it just takes one click.

That was 2 years ago and I'm laughing my ass off!😀
Good job mate 👍
I'm really greatfull for this album it's beautiful and a very good idea.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
I would not to go thru that unleashed. Break a LEG
The staircase to heaven is inside your heart; you enter through the door of your soul. Our whole life is but an attempt to find this miraculous entrance. All our deeds are but a timid knocking on this mysterious door and all our hopes are to hear a voice that would respond, 'Come In!' 🎶🌅
Their music takes you to the other side and back in the comfort of your armchair.
A nice compilation. 50 years ago many of us owned 3 head reel to reel tape decks and made custom albums. I'm glad to see some folks still are. I'm listening to your "album" at 3:30 am, and vaping a little kind bud...it's working for me. ;))
No hay nada como estar escuchando esto con una buena lectura de revistas de motor clásico y mi gato encima y un canuto y a relajarse de este mundo tan antinatural
Very cool
I think a lot of the Moody’s songs are very fitting to be used in motion picture soundtracks - they have a very emotional quality to them that would grab you even more in the right movie scene. In addition to that, their music would be introduced to younger audiences.
They actually performed in Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds and performed the very wonderful song "Forever Autumn." At the 31:45 mark on this video is that song performed by the Moody Blues: ua-cam.com/video/16aa5NtpVbw/v-deo.html
i caught a video made for Harry Potter with the song Candle of life twice here on UA-cam but cant find it now, did anyone else see it? it had strange inuendos that probably got it banned. im not into Harry Potter but must admit it fit perfect.
Listened to moody blues growing up..classic..timeless.🌸
