So this is how British people must feel when Americans try to take on their accents...
+leerph eh I thought the accents were good.
+Ore B I thought the accents were really good
Believe I know how my peeps from El Barrio sound
When the girl says "esa pregunta es tricky" you can hear the non hispanic accent but the rest
Hell yeah it sounds really good , straight from a Bodega in the heights
Javier S yeah people are being way to critical. The only problem was that it was too fast but i think that was because they ahd to fill the time slot. Besides that it was really good
I'm interested to know what you thought of bennys accent?
benny (joe aaron reid) is actually american, so his accent is spot on :D
i can't imagine anyone else as Benny besides Chris Jackson
whenever i listen to the obc version i imagine george washington as benny haha
same
nice one dude that's because you knew of Hamilton before In the Heights.
this one was pretty good though
ohsnapitzjazzy1 I know
I didn't expect Groffsauce at the beginning
me neither! i was like "hell yeah in the heights! OH SHIT"
nice one dude that's my emotions right now
Ravenclaw Is The New Black saame
Ravenclaw Is The New Black same, but I've been blessed
Same, but not complaining.
Usnavi looks like a dad who tried to impress their kids and their friends by dressing cool
Ok...so what did Lin look like when he did usnavi. Be real.
@@qsings8674 you gotta point there 🥶
I'm in love with this Vanessa! She definitely has the power to play her, while also keeping that vulnerability that made Karen Olivio's Vanessa so perfect. It's really easy for Vanessa to slip into the fiesty Latina stereotype but she's so much more than that. This Vanessa has everything and it makes me so happy!!
Lauren Crisp her audition tape is gold
I agree! And yet this Vanessa is Filipina! :)
Did anyone else notice how Sonny said "The rich are penetrating" twice instead of "The rent is escalating (sorry i can't spell lol). The rich are penetrating."?
You're right! Both your spelling and that yeah he did
John Laurens is Gay replying for the account name 😅❤️
+Andrew White ;3
Cause that's more relevant now than in 2008. In 2008 we didn't know about how terrible the wealthy class in America was screwing the system, so here it's repeated.

I saw this cast live. They were so much better than this in the theatre. This performance is cringy.
I agree it just weirds me out when someone else other than Lin is Usnavi and when someone other than Chris is Benny
Im glad im not the only one who thinks so
@@sunnaaa they are saying that this performance was cringe, and when they saw them in person they were better....how is it hate-
@@nite.5400 idk why i said that- i actually agreed w them. i prolly was sick that day
This is really bad
This Vanessa is probably the best I've ever seen. Truly amazing. Her and Karen are just #1 together.
Sarah Kesseler love you for that xxx heeheehee #asianvanessa
Can't wait to see you in Hamilton, Christine!
Sarah Kesseler sHE PLAYS PEGGY/MARIA REYNOLDS IN HAMILTON
Christine is absolutely INCREDIBLE as Vanessa!! I can definitely see her coming to American to play Eliza :)
❤️❤️❤️ gracias chica!!! Thank you for the love xxx
Christine Allado she is actually playing Peggy/Maria in London
@@heatherstrash1411 And u/s Eliza! :)
I agree! Best part of this video!
@@christineallado Your riff on the 2nd "around" is gold!! 😀
"Damn we only jokin' stay broke then.." BEST PART
That's my favorite part ever
“the rich are penetrating! the rich are penetrating!” omg Cleve you are too precious for this world
Imigrants. We get the job done.
No
ohhhhhhh yeaahhhhh
YES
CLEVE AND CHRISTINE ARE IN THIS
este comentario era necesario. gracias.
It didn't feel right. It sounded like they were all screaming or trying to sound Hispanic. And it just didn't sound good at all.
That and it's rushed. They tried to fit as much of the song in a short time period which made it sound weird asf
I think they should have rewritten the script to have the actors sing and act in their normal accents.
why is everyone screaming? (as opposed to singing/rapping)
+SGong33 I guess they were a bit nervous the Olivier Awards are kind of a big deal but I've seen the musical live and they normally sing/rap. It's alot better live the theatre layout is quite different from most theatres which makes it so immersive! I loved it so much, cant wait to see it again!
SGong33 you have to remember that they are just doing this song. Plays build up over the course of it and they have time to get the energy up to where it should be. This was just a one off, so they were probably guessing where to start the energy level at
Vanessa has the best part in this song and she plays it beautifully
Hey Ayaan Abbasi I see you're a clear Lin Manuel Miranda fan... I've recently posted my interview with Cleve September to my channel, he will be playing John Lauren's/ Philip Hamilton in the West End Version of Hamilton, and was Sonny in this clip.
Thought it may be of interest to you :)
And Christine (Vanessa) is Peggy and Maria in Hamilton!
The rich are penetrating!! The rich are penetrating!!
lmao guess this sonny got nervous.
Hey Leonardo Talavera I've recently posted my interview with Cleve September to my channel. (Sonny in this clip and also playing John Lauren's/ Philip Hamilton in the West End Version of Hamilton) Thought it may be of interest to you :)
Maybe he should have written more raps as a 9-year-old to practice.
Yeah lol 😂 I noticed that too and I was wondering if anyone noticed. What was the og line again? Also I know I’m 3 years late but whatever.
@@ShalanaSerafina I just saw this commemt!! Will check it!!
@@ellam4415
the rent is escalatin'
The rich are penetratin'
the girl who plays Vanessa is freaking gorgeous!!!! as soon as she came on I was like if that isn't a perfect Vanessa then I don't know who is. and then she started singing!!! omg!!! lol yes girl you better work. this cast has am amazing energy wish I could fly to London to see it. since I never got to see the obc.
+♥Ashluv085♥
Karen Olivio is a perfect Vanessa...
+Jimena Dominguez well duh she is THE Vanessa of all Vanessas. but I'm talking about for this production this girl is perfect for it.
I've fucking been to the West End production twice and I've had understudies as Vanessa both times.
♥Ashluv085♥ That's Christine Allado! She'll be playing as one of the Schuyler Sisters soon!! Proud Filipina here!
I feel like they were trying too hard to be gritty and Latino and ethnic. It felt so natural was the American version. But Sonny is adorable and great and I screamed when David showed up. Also the dancing not as brutal as the original? I've heard great things though so I'm sure the show is great. Will there be a cast recording though?!
+Christine Allado As an member of the original off Bway and Broadway companies of In The Heights (bolero singer, abuela, camila, daniela u/s)...congratulations!!!!!! Your Vanessa was flawless. I'm always so excited to see how other companies interpret this incredible piece. Enjoy every minute!
+Doreen Montalvo it's incredible and truly humbling reading your words of encouragement! needless to say, I'm a massive fan of yours and it's such a gift to virtually speak to you!! thank you for your kind comments! this show is so special and every single time we play it is a delight. thank you again and more power to you!
+Christine Allado I'm humbled!!!! Oh how I wish I can see it please send my regards to the entire cast and if you are ever in NYC please stop by the Marquis Theatre and see a lot of Ith original cast members in On Your Feet! The others are in HAMILTON of course:) all the best xo
i definitely will!!! fingers crossed i get time off to fly over to your side of the pond xx thank you again and all the very best to you!!
:(
@@bobbyjayjohnson3460 :( me too
Doesn't even come close to the original with the exception of Vanessa she was really greta
They really changed up this version. I went yesterday to watch it in London and it was very, very similar to the original. I felt like the cast were nervous here, it felt like they couldn't keep up with the beat. However, when you actually see it live in the normal theatre, this cast was absolutely amazing.
It's amazing irl, don't trust this version
Rockerdude17 I had the privilege of seeing the London production near the end of its run and it was utterly phenomenal, especially given they had to deal with the double-sided stage!!! The choreography and acting and passion was incredible! But yes Christine Allado is sensational and SHE'S PLAYING PEGGY/MARIA!!!!!!! And the insANEly talented Cleve September will be Laurens/Philip!!!!! He killed this rap, but also check out his Ham4All donation video if you haven't seen it yet, the guy is fire
Christine Allado is her name... she owns this account, I think.
The Vansesa in this video is acually the uploader LOL!
Was absolutely blown away by this cast of In the Heights (although I hate to pick, Christine Allado & Philippa Stefani were brilliant!) so I'm so glad to find a video of the cast on youtube.
ahhhh fantastic that you came to see us! and thank you xx hope to see ya back in the Barrio!
Quick tip: if you don't have people who can rap.. don't do a Lin show..
I agree, but some of the cast members there are in Hamilton West End rn and they got better at rapping. The only thing lacking here is mentorship and supervision, the vocal coach or the accompanist/MD must've done a bad job.
Ive seen other comments that this cast in other performances were better, this is just... Not very well prepared, like an audition when you only spent a day on your music (I'm a band kid, it's my closest analogy)
my school is doing In The Heights this year and I'm Sonny, and idk what that was 😂😂😂
Yeah it’s like they are over doing it. The performance feels so forced with Anthony and Lin it feels natural
I think they can rap! But do NOT cast non-Latinx actors to play Latinx characters. That's disappointing.
GOD this musical takes me back. Definitely one of my favorite. This West End production lacks the 'American feel' (which of course is understandable) but all amazing nevertheless.
You need to see it live in the actual theatre to 'feel' it :)
when you see it live you can feel the barrio vibe - believe me, thy're great!
Definitely! I've seen this 3 times and that will not be the last of my visits! Amazing show and great cos it is in a small theatre so feels very immediate and isn't too expensive.
Joe is actually American, how much more of a feel do you need?
+Stockwell santley we have 2 months til it leaves London
good, but the timing and rhythms were slightly off, specifically how the vocals lined up with the music. the voices were AMAZING, regardless!
You have to see it on stage with its proper set at King's Cross Theatre. You have to remember this is an award ceremony they were performing at. The performance has been edited because there's a few bit of dialogue missing. How they perform in the theatre is different to this. Thw guy who plays Benny is actually American! so not sure how he's not American enough. They are an awesome cast and extremely talented. Kudos to them for making it into a delightful show for all of us to enjoy. We've seen it 10 times so we should know. 😉
not sure if I just went on an off night but there was off key singing and missed belt-notes that marred the experience. not to mention a totally and horribly miscast Abuela that was so distracting, I actually contemplated not coming back after the intermission. don't even begin to compare this to the original broadway version.
their carla and daniela were kind of cringey to me... like extremely
Agreed
Yeah they dont have the soul and the characters of who those people are. They look like they thought "Ok cool Ghetto. Chola." and thats not what those characters are.
+Brandon G.
I hate to say it but I kinda got the same vibe...
yeah lol
the carla was slightly better than the daniela, but it was pretty cringey
This Vanessa is incredible.
+JuliaTheBookMonster
Saw this live last night, was absolutely AMAZING!! The Olivier performance was also amazing but it in no way compares to seeing it and hearing it before your own eyes. The cast sounded brilliant and it was phenomenal!
Christine's beautiful belting mixed with soft vulnerable moments, the breath support, the energy, the roughness in the last "around"...
Perfect, beautiful, a really astonishing performance.
The “esa pregunta es tricky” was really cringe, something felt off in this performance
I had the opportunity to see this In the Heights last Monday and I have to say that it was wondeful! The music, the choreography, the cast, EVERYTHING!!! Congratulations! Brilliant show! Probably one of the best I`ve seen in the West End!
I went all the way from Poland to see this in London two weeks ago, and it was spectacular!
was in London for a weekend while abroad this Spring and bought a last minute ticket to this, best decision I could have made! It was the best production of a show I have ever seen, the energy alone left me constantly smiling throughout and what talent!
Wow, Christine is such a powerhouse as Vanessa!
I see 2 people that currently in Hamilton's West End cast....Lin got some favorites lol
tbh i dont like this version? the way they sing things for me just doesnt. "Feel Right." lins version will always be the best
it's a lot different on stage in the actual show, they've just changed it to adapt to the awards
+fishfingersndcustard they adapted it for the Tony's in '08 and it worked much better
+SGong33 I kinda have to agree, because this version didn't cut Sonny's rap, which the Tony version did. But I love the Tony version too.
+fishfingersndcustard Yeah I agree
Lin's version of anything will always be better than anyone else's version of that thing
Went to see the show in London yesterday and OMFG IT WAS OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Saw the show live last week and everything about it was so so amazing I've been listening to this on repeat since I came home!
are there any actual Hispanics in this production. Just curious. I know London has a non existent Hispanic population lol.
There is actually hispanic communities in the UK as it is the most racial country in the world
not that many latinos, but still very mixed - most actors are not british
In this production Yes, there is :)
Nina is xx
ARE YOU ALL KIDDING ME?? THERE ARE SOO MANY LATINAS WHERE I LIVE IN LONDON AND IN MY SCHOOL!! It just depends on the area in London
David Bedella singing on stage, clearly having loads of fun. this video is just amazing!
"spending spree"
King George III does the introduction
Saw these guys in London last week! Such a great show, such a great cast, met them afterwards, amazing people!
Absolutely love all of you!! My best friend and I visited England this past summer and saw you guys! We got to talk to some of you, and you guys were so friendly and awesome! SO wish I could've talked to you Christine Allado! Your voice is mind blowing!!
I love this show. One of my top 5 favourites from last year, I'm so happy it won the awards it did. My friends and I just booked to see it again in May and I cannot wait to see it with the new cast members!
Me and my friend saw In The Heights on Friday (1st April) and we were both completely blown away by how amazing the whole cast and production were. Definitely worth going to see it if you live close enough to London. Would happily go to see it again
Incredible performance guys, can't wait to watch the show again !
There was no smooth elevation of energy. This unsnavi just comes flying out of the gate with so much intensity. It didn’t feel like he was sliding through the syllables of his verses and instead just pounding out each word trying to sound as gangster as possible. Didnt even feel like Usnavi.
to everyone blasting this cast, I went to see this in London with college and it was incredible, we were lucky enough to meet the cast afterwards. They told us for almost all of them this was their first time performing this song in front of an audience so they actually did very well considering! x
this feels rushed
daniel slater I think it is actually. I remember Sam (usnavi) saying something about them having to do it 50% quicker than usual or something because of time constraints on the oliviers
they're trying so hard...
Goosebumps when they all harmonise
that trumpet note at the end... fucking nice
I'm seeing this with my school in a few weeks, super excited!
Loved seeing this show 6 years ago in London! Sam Mackay (Usnavi) was so nice when I came up and asked for a picture, we even had a drink together for a few minutes at the bar in the theatre and I'll always remember how friendly he was even though he must have been tired from the show :) The rest of the cast was also exceptionally kind and surprised to find out that I had travelled all the way from Sweden to see them! Totally worth it :D
Christine, ITH is my favourite musical and I've heard so many Vanessas but you're in my top 3, right after Queen Olivo
+ImNotANightTroll Olivo for the win foreverrr! yes! will definitely see you in July! looking forward to it x
I love this show so much :D :D I actually never did get to see it on Broadway, but after I had already been obsessing over Hamilton for like 4 months I finally decided I needed to look up whatever video of Heights was out there, and I immediately fell in love with it! Lin's music is just forever the most infectious
That Vanessa was perfect for the role!
ahhh thank you
I had no idea there was a London cast! :0 I really like this performance!
I saw it a few days ago and it was amazing, the actors were wonderful !
Shoot , I just a video of "In The Heights" in Korea ? WTF ? I thought British people doing it was dope but Koeans ? mi Barrio Latino getting around the world DOPE !
Anyone else think that the band are behind? I dunno it just didn't seem quite right, particularly the trumpets near the end :-S But very impressed with everyone despite that :-D
Love this!!!
Is it just me, or did the slow the tempo down?
Anna Maguire I think they actually had to speed it up, due to time constraints
It felt faster to me tbh
My favourite musical by far!! Been to see it twice and I always left the show feeling inspired and ready to achieve my dream of one day performing in the west end! Dream role would be Nina! If you haven't seen it already, go because it is just amazing I can't even describe it! I hope I can go and see the show again sometime and I also hope that this video gets 96000 views!!
This is hilarious! It's a bunch of British people trying to be Latinos😂 but for real though this is a musical about the struggle of the people from different places you could at least try to cast better
pooop money I mean Cleve is South African and Lin is American.
The vanessa is filipino :)
Yes, because Britain doesn't have immigrants and large immigrant communities. TBF, we don't have large Latino communities but rejig this with Pakistani, Nigerian and West Indian characters and this would reflect the UK really well.
@@redisthecoolestcolour Maybe if you don’t have a Latin population…don’t do “In the Heights.” As a Venezuelan-American, watching these incredibly obviously not Latin people rapping with such stereotypical, forced “ghetto” voices makes me incredibly uncomfortable. It feels like they’re playing caricatures of Latin immigrants.
@@gabimartinez8862 That's a fair point. That's why my thought process was to rejig the lyrics and characters, to reflect the population we have, rather than to force a performance of races of people we don't know. I'm really sorry that you felt uncomfortable watching this.
CLEVE SEPTEMBER IS SUCH A LEGEND I LOVE HIM
Their voices I'm dead
amazing!
This definitely isn't the best performance they've done but I have been to see this show three times now and I'll probably go again. The staging is awesome and intimate and the acting and singing/rapping is beautiful at Kings Cross, I think it might have been nerves that got to them this time which does suck. Still a solid performance though!
+Sonia Leon-Alvarez I think it's also because they had to speed through it to fit the time the Olivier's gave them IT's paced faster which throws it off.
I LOVE IT
I loved seeing Cleve September here!
You gotta love that one squealing trumpet!
I love you, Vanessa! Congrats on Hamilton, Christine!!! AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!! 😍😘
Oh my goodness Christine is sooo amazing :^)
saw this cast in Kings cross theatre a couple of months ago - even better live! go see whilst you've still got a chance
Amazing
I love Christine like she just makes her own version of Vanessa and it's amazing
+Nala Torres muchas gracias chica!!!!
+Christine Allado I love your part ! Youvtake me back to my younger days in the Barrio hanging out with my
Peeps at the Bodega
gracias papi! looking forward to having you in El Barrio in July xx
My school is doing in the heights and this spread through the cast so fast we were all dying laughing 😂😂😂
Who is here after watching the movie version of In The Heights released this past weekend?
OMG Lara Pulver (Irene Adler on BBC Sherlock) was in the audience at 4:33 and now I'm going from all the ITH feels to Sherlock feels...HELP
Wow! This was really good. Different, for sure, but still good. And they didn't cut Graffiti Pete's part! I love his line in the beginning, and they cut it on Broadway, so I freaked when they didn't cut it here. I miss the 96,000 little hand clap move they do, but that's okay. Great job!
the weird annunciation in "damn we only joking stay broke then" actually physically hurt me
Girl ang galing mo! Huhu can't afford to go abroad so I hope magperform kayo dito sa Pinas!
Christine you are amazing and truly talented! I watched the show about two weeks ago so unfortunately you weren't in it but well done! Keep it up!!
+Coco Baker thank you!! it's a brilliant show and I love being a part of it!
+Christine Allado No problem!
i love sonny so much
Really odd for anyone who's performed it to see the re-workings here! But Christine is wonderful
Wow that's so lovely thank you!
+Christine Allado I just wanted to tell you, you are one of the few who I think match up to Karen Olivo when singing this song. Many Vanessa I've seen on UA-cam can't pull off the power and the riffs required, but you were great! I was happily surprised.
+C. A. Brown that is seriously the best compliment I've ever ever received!!! I think Karen Olivo is an absolute goddess. She is Vanessa through and through. Thank you for your words of encouragement I really appreciate it! Ps. My friends back home all call me C.A. haha
Cleve is such a cute sonny in this, my heart.
The girl who plays Vanessa is amazing!
"The rich are penetratin..
The rich are penetratin...
*deep breaths" 😂
I miss In The Heights!! Please bring it back to the West End!!
So cool
Saw this cast last year, Vanessa and Nina’s mother were amazing
+Christine Allado You are officially my new favorite Vanessa. For a while I thought no one could be better than Karen Olivo but I was wrong. You have in my opinion topped her. You have a beautiful voice and you are beautiful in general so you really fit the part. Overall this was a really good performance although I like the broadway staging and choreographing better. But thank you Christine Allado for being my new favorite Vanessa
+Henry D'Alessio eeek! wow thats too lovely to read, thank you so much!! its an honour and my absolute pleasure to play her everyday! couldn't be more blessed to be part of such a fantastic show!
+Christine Allado I've seen a clip of you singing Phantom of the Opera. And it was spectacular. Your voice is perfect for the role. And as for In the Heights. If I were rich I would fly to London to see you but unfortunately due to my financial situation that is not possible.
Would love you to do a bunch of bway and disney covers as an album!
This Vanessa legit gave me shivers
THE ARM FLAILING!!!
you have a nice voice!!!
You definately were Vanessa on the night we came. Absolutely awesome performance. My friend John is Associate MD so I'll defo be back and bringing friends. x
+Emma Norman fantastic!! hopefully see you next time round!! xx
Christina Allado (Vanessa) makes me proud to be Filipino! ❤️
Christine and Cleve are the only reason I’m here.. and they are incredible!
