  • My 2020 KTM 250 XC TPI ran perfectly for 55 hours when it suddenly started idling too low. Neither of the fuel filters solved the problem, so instead of questioning what caused it further, I opted to install the Slavens idle screw. My bike now idles and runs perfectly, and I am very happy with the mod.

crazy it takes a mod like this to make it idle right

I have same bike. Nice video. FYI, I've talked to a lot of people about these bikes and they say that running a spark arrestor causes the CCPS to fail early.

Interesting... Haven't heard that one! My CCPS never failed on this bike.

I had idle issues, changed my ccps and this fixed the idle issue. Seems a lot of ccps units are bad.

I heard CCPS would result in power issues with throttle response as well. Was yours solely idle? I never checked or replaced my CCPS, but bike has been running great since the idle screw mod.

Would highly recommend you change your CCPS!! Buy an extra and have one on hand just in case.

Since you can run richer with this mod because the air bypass screw done at have to be pulled out to make the idle run better does this mean you have more low end power? I want to know if it’s a big enough change I should get one

With my bike, I had never touched the air screw from stock. But once it stopped idling, if I turned the air screw out far enough for it to idle it ran like complete garbage and you could tell it was way too lean and had no power. Now with the idle mod, my air screw is pretty much where it was from the factory. I would not say I notice much of an improved bottom end response, but it does allow you to fiddle with idle/air screw combo to make the bike richer or leaner as you might prefer. I've fiddled a lot with the air screw within 1 turn in/out now that it's idling good, and have it running good. Overall if your bike idles fine I would probably not go through the trouble to do this mod in search of power gain. Let me know if that answers your question or you want any additional details.

Mr. Slavens says it's not a "Mod" and he's technically correct. Lol

How so? I had to modify something

@@KincadePavich he said you're not modifying. You're just replacing and idol screw for another idle screw.

Each time you touch that throttle you are fouling the plug. You do not touch the throttle on TPI bikes until they are at least a 140°. The ECU pumps extra oil before they are warmed up. By touching the throttle that just adds even more oil.

And you never set the bike off until it is fully warmed up. You are fouling the plug
