Dude your channel is up to great things!! I love the editing and the quality content! Keep it up!! Regarding comics, I might start reading more digitally as it gets pretty expensive to buy American comics edition in France.
Thanks for the kind words! Do you have any favorites you would start with digitally? My French is a little rusty, so I apologize in advance! Bonjour, je m'appelle Ben, ravi de vous rencontrer!
Absolute Batman is awesome, I might have an extra copy if you’re interested. Shipping might take a while and be a little expensive but I’d be happy to help you out! Look me up on instagram @freshstartcomics
Yeah there’s an infinite number of comics to pick up anytime you walk into a shop, it’s hard to stay on top of all the storylines and everything, digital is great for those stories I want to read, but not necessarily the ones I want to collect in my PC! Thanks for watching!
Digital can have its place, but something very few people discuss is the fact that you'll never actually own your Digital comics. This is true for movies, TV, etc. You'll never own any digital media, you're only paying for a limited license to view the media. Digitizing your personal collection could be a good workaround, but not everyone has that ability.
Yeah I said that to someone else in the comments, it’s amazing how most people aren’t aware of this asks we’ve not stepped up to say it’s wrong! It’s crazy that it’s gone this long and nothing has changed. Thanks for watching!
not a big fan of grading my books but i think if you do, they should come back with a QR code so you can read them digitally, but yeah i believe in supporting the shops but nothing wrong with reading digitally, sometimes ill read something digitally and then go to my shop to pick that book up, cool vid new sub
You know I was talking to a buddy about that same thing, works great for older comics if you have one of the apps, you can just find it and read it, but that’s a brilliant idea honestly, they could digitally scan the pages of your graded book and put it in the QR code so you can read your graded book digitally. WOW you should send that idea in honestly that’s brilliant!!! Thanks for the sub, I appreciate you!
Why not include the digital with a physical copy, like DVD used to? Maybe make the included digital more rare to the straight up digital somehow to boost hard copy sales?
There were some books that I remember when the new 52 run of DC was coming out there were some combo packs that had a digital copy of the book that came with it, but I don't remember ever using the ones I had. Someone else had a great idea and I'll mention it in my next video about grading comics that you should get a digital scan of your comic book after you send it in to be graded. Thanks for watching!
Yeah I usually go to my local shop about twice a month to clear out my pull list, but when I’m at home I’m either reading my trades or digitally! Most of the time digital around the kids so they don’t tear anything up! Thanks for watching!
I would say both, you have to maintain a balance in relation to space, collecting comics implies having a suitable place or investing to store them. So I save the physical space for my favorites, the rest is read digitally. Greetings from Chile
That’s also a great point, if you don’t have a place to store your comics digital is definitely the way to go! What are some of your favorites in your collection? Hola! Muchas gracias!
I have a subscription list for ongoing Spider-Man comics at my local comic shop and I earn points there that I use to buy Omnibuses for older runs. I also have Marvel Unlimited for reading semi-recent stuff that I didn't want to collect in physical but am still interested in like the Krakoan era for the X-Men
I don’t think anybody should feel “guilty” about reading digitally, I prefer physical copies but at the same time I pretty much trade wait everything, I’m not a weekly shop goer, not completely up to date with plot lines and events. I just kinda read what I like ands what seems fun
My only fear with digital media is the possibility of losing your ability to read sed media. Rn dc unlimited has almost everything, black label, vertigo, wild storm. While marvels app seems a bit limited, my fear is dc can hit a 180 outta nowhere and pull those titles/imprints and then what?
There’s no right way to read or enjoy comics, it’s really up to you and what you like, just as you said! You’re right though, it wouldn’t take much for DC to pull everything, just like with any streaming platform, we pay to rent access to these titles, we don’t own them. I like the convenience of digital, but it won’t ever replace the way it feels to read a comic book! Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate you!
Digital is a little limited in that you cannot "lend" your issues, has no collectibility. Fine for reading newer stuff, but like the modern reprints, older material just looks oversaturated with bright colors. I'll keep my old print books for rereading.
Yeah definitely agree, I see digital as more of a convenience than carrying around 12 issues and 4 omnibus editions with me everywhere. Most of the time I read digitally so my kids don’t mess up my physical copies in the chaos! Thanks for watching!
with the apps, can you read the newest comic releases ? or do you need to wait a certain amount of time before those new comics are uploaded to the app? it's been a few years since i used these apps.
So it’ll depend on the app, but usually you’ll be between 3-6 months behind when it comes to new releases. So if you’re wanting to read Absolute Batman on DC’s app, you’ll have to wait 3 months before it’s on the app.
It should be digital but there needs to be more options to get the current issues from the big companies that isn't just Comixology. I don't always want to be several months behind all of the time as on their individual apps
@@FreshStartComics that would certainly be better but what I really want is an alternative for Comixology on the day and date releases. Whether that’s a single site or the individual publishers have their own app I’m not too concerned but after everything Amazon has done to Comixology over years having all the eggs in one basket seems like a bad idea
You’re right that’s why I like my titles spread out and through the official publishers, not saying comixology isn’t a good option, but like you said it shouldn’t be the only option!
You own zilch if you choose digital. You purchase the opportunity to read it but it is not yours. DC could deny or eliminate said access and/or change the content of the books in any way. Owning the physical copy is the way to go.
Yeah I was saying that to someone else in the comments, that’s just like with anything streaming or digital related, we are paying to rent that content and whenever they decide to remove it, it’s gone. Movies bought digitally probably make me the most frustrated because if I’m “buying” it, it should stay there forever, not be removed due to licensing issues or something like that. Thanks for watching!!
It’s a good question, I don’t specifically know the ins and outs of the industry, but I’d say it would hurt comic shop owners more so than makers, but I’m sure there’s got to be a significant difference in what they are paid if someone buys a subscription to a service vs individually sold books. If anyone in the comments knows, please inform us! Thanks for watching!
When physical copies are no more, i have plenty to reread. Digital comics are not comics. It's about pleasure and comfort. And it's about the real thing. "You can take it with you" I take my comics whenever i want to.
I don’t disagree with you, I think it’s like physical books as well, physical books are great and my preferred way to read, but if I’m going on a long trip, I’m not packing two omnibus and 20 comics in my bag, it’s not practical for me. That’s why I read digital when it’s not practical to take all the comics I want to read. When I’m at home or at a store, I read physical and prefer physical comics! Thanks for watching!
The day a physical copy of a comic book I would buy is not available physically but can only be bought in a digital form,is the day I finally walk away in peace. comic book by the big2 anyways have been unreadable because of these woke shit show for these last decade or so.
I can’t say that I agree with your last statement, however I think I would likely be the same if comics were only available digitally, it wouldn’t be the same and I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as I do now. Thanks for watching!
So what do you prefer, Digital or Physical books? Let me know down below!

I do a lot of digital reading but i still go to the shop every week, I want to get more and more every week but it gets unaffordable quick

I do both, I use DC app but buy trades on a monthly basis

Digital all the way. More comfortable reading positions. Lights aren’t required. Flexibility
All great points! Thanks for watching!
As an indie comic publisher, most of my sales are digital on our website.
I’ll have to check out your stuff!
Holding a floppy, the nostalgia, the smell, nothing can take that away, to hell with digital!

I still have AND read comic from the 60s and 70s.
Do you think your digital comics will be available for you to read fifty years from now?
Doubtful honestly, especially with how things are going right now with digital purchases or as I said above rentals lol
Why would buying the comic digitally put comic makers out of business? Shouldn't that revenue still go toward them?
