    No one works magic anymore because the owners and designers of those brands are no longer the artists that made the brand. The essence underlying today's trends are dictated by social media interests rather than inspirations from the designer's reflections of life itself.

    • @evanrachelhood
      @evanrachelhood 16 днів тому +231

      I was going to disagree, because there are many examples of artistic directors improving upon already-established brands. And then I reread your comment, and you’re right.
      These newer directors seem very aware of marketing and brand awareness, but it feels so hollow and corporate. Fashion is art and it’s supposed to send a message. I can still find art in couture, but I remember when ready-to-wear was exciting. Fast fashion (capitalism) and social media (also capitalism) really destroy innovation and art for the sake of art.

      That's a weird comment to make considering Karl lagerfeld himself said Gabrielle chanel would've hated what he did with her brand. And yet he did complete magic with it. Chanel was sinking before karl took over

      well why would they buy the stuff they dislike? on top of how tons of people with money will buy a lot of ugly stuff just because they can and the brands are status symbol 🤷‍♀️

    • @SaffariRose

      It matters what the public thinks tho. Many people with money do buy things that are highly sought after to establish their wealth, so If people love a brand, it increases the desire and prestige attached to the brand.

    • @tavareeable
      @tavareeable 16 днів тому +41

      @@diangelosOne thing is the right of buyers to buy or not and a very different one to imply that those buyers we're talking about here, didn't do it because the collections are "ugly stuff". So what is talented standing for?

    • @hafidhb
      @hafidhb 10 днів тому +61

      @@bengigi7337 look, talented designer does not mean that that person is right for the position of creative director of a certain brand. Have you seen Demna of Balenciaga? He is talented. But his designs are definitely not Balenciaga, yes it has unique silhouette which's Balenciaga selling point, but have you seen how different (and not in a good way) his designs are compare to Cristobal? The same thing goes for Karl and Virginie. Both of them are talented, especially Karl, for he has been in the industry for so many years and even have been serving in Balmain before. But I can definitely say that Karl definitely does not embody Chanel. Chanel was old, stiff, and Gabrielle herself even despise pop culture and trends. Remember that Chanel was in the bring of ruin before Karl came in. And what does Karl brought to Chanel if not those two? As for Virginie, she's a mess. I can see her torn between Chanel's stiff and classic sense of fashion and Karl's sense of modernism. That's why you see her designs and styling a lotta mess. What you see in Chanel and what people loved in Chanel is not Gabrielle, but Karl. People back then despise Chanel, simply because Gabrielle was so old-fashioned, and not to mention, she's a n*zi spy.

    • @lokylong28
      @lokylong28 10 днів тому

      To be fair, Coco Chanel was more of a businesswoman herself and she'd probably not be into Karl. She was not a nice person and stole designs, she made it because she was smart in doing business. She was also a spy for Nazis just to protect her own personal interests. This person was glorified and praised when I was studying fashion but in reality she's more of a Thomas Edison instead of Nikola Tesla...

    Karl Lagerfeld was infinitely more creative human ever IMO to be the one to return Chanel to its former glory. Just because she was his right hand designer doesn’t mean she had the KL touch. It’s because he made it look so easy. For him sketching designs was like walking is for most people. He also had a penchant for interior decor, jewelry, accessories and of course starched white collars, ascot tie long morning coat. He was always very stylish creator. You can see the models crying on their runway walk as it’s the first one they did after KL died. There are a few long and detailed interviews he did including sketching to show things like what he wore as a boy, his mother had a huge influence on him and he sketched her too. They really loved him.

Les robes roses sont celles du printemps été 2019, dernière collection couture faite par Karl, où il n'avait pas pu saluer. I think the issue people had with her is the styling of not only the clothes on the runway, but also what was given to the Chanel ambassadors for events. I definitely remember some recent carpets where the outfits given didn't look like they were chosen for their ambassadors but just randomly selected. I know she is talented and hope for her own line without having to stand under the Chanel brand and expectations. I do wish Chanel went back to the classic style with a modern cut. I think people need to come to terms with the fact that after an artist or creator dies, their vision, art and style for a brand they’ve worked on or for for decades will never be the same again. The closest a successor might come to is just recreating something that the original designer did with a few tweaks here or there but anything new and original will always feel “not right” to outsiders looking at Chanel always expecting it to continue looking the same.

All of this money, the facade...yes these designers are talented but the truth is that there are millions of artists that could do what she does had they the support, team, money, and more money. I believe that people are waking up and seeing that behind all of this luxury is an ugly and evil spirit and they don't want to give their hard earned money away to it. But one thing people are forgetting is that the retail clothing side of Chanel went up 26.8% so she wasn't doing all that bad but yes there has not been that excitement about the shows. She’s quiet and people want that sort of wow factor lol gave that I’m betting that Jeremy Scott will be the next designer. He is the one that can do it him or the two dudes from Delpozo either would be amazing .

    Agree bc the ambassadors of Chanel struggle on the red carpet Margot Robbie and Jennie from Black Pink in particular her Met Gala looks

    Maybe we need some new and upcoming designers to start designing for big brands like Chanel instead of people like Virginie 🤷🏽‍♀️ and a whole new team of stylists because I never saw anything I would buy being made by Chanel

    the problem is once a designer dies…their creations die with them. There is no way that even someone who was rlly close to the designer could create something that made the brand famous in the first place mostly in this Generation where the fashion trends change so quickly…where Shops like Shein, Temu and what not bring out new pieces every single day and not only 5 per day but over 1000. I want to become a fashion designer one day but I fear that it wont happen bc of fast fashion

    I think people should definitely care about how someone is in their personal life especially if they’re going to be a president. It shows what their morals are and it’s crazy some things he’s been accused of that people gloss over
