No one works magic anymore because the owners and designers of those brands are no longer the artists that made the brand. The essence underlying today's trends are dictated by social media interests rather than inspirations from the designer's reflections of life itself.
I was going to disagree, because there are many examples of artistic directors improving upon already-established brands. And then I reread your comment, and you’re right.
These newer directors seem very aware of marketing and brand awareness, but it feels so hollow and corporate. Fashion is art and it’s supposed to send a message. I can still find art in couture, but I remember when ready-to-wear was exciting. Fast fashion (capitalism) and social media (also capitalism) really destroy innovation and art for the sake of art.
Exactly right !
YES! The true fashion DESIGNERS have passed and in turn, all we have are greedy, money and fame seeking imitators.
That's a weird comment to make considering Karl lagerfeld himself said Gabrielle chanel would've hated what he did with her brand. And yet he did complete magic with it. Chanel was sinking before karl took over
@@LauraOfTheValleyuhh, have you already managed to forget the Maison Margiela fashion show with the porcelain doll skin? Sure, the legalcy brand owners are dead but good designers are very much still around
It's ironic that non buyers didn't like her designs, but the Chanel customers did. She actually made the company lots of money.
well why would they buy the stuff they dislike? on top of how tons of people with money will buy a lot of ugly stuff just because they can and the brands are status symbol 🤷♀️
It matters what the public thinks tho. Many people with money do buy things that are highly sought after to establish their wealth, so If people love a brand, it increases the desire and prestige attached to the brand.
@@diangelosOne thing is the right of buyers to buy or not and a very different one to imply that those buyers we're talking about here, didn't do it because the collections are "ugly stuff". Perhaps you and other people dislike her work but this fact doest make your definition true and by no means should it be call it ugly. Pears and oranges ..
Probably the buyers are pressurized to wear an expensive brand no matter whether they like it or not. At the end of the day they should be seen wearing expensive brands to showcase their identity
The quality is non existent now
People are right. She IS very talented. But her designs does not reflect Chanel, especially her styling. Tho if Chanel still lives, she would seriously pissed with both her and Karl 😂.
So what is talented standing for?
@@bengigi7337 look, talented designer does not mean that that person is right for the position of creative director of a certain brand. Have you seen Demna of Balenciaga? He is talented. But his designs are definitely not Balenciaga, yes it has unique silhouette which's Balenciaga selling point, but have you seen how different (and not in a good way) his designs are compare to Cristobal? The same thing goes for Karl and Virginie. Both of them are talented, especially Karl, for he has been in the industry for so many years and even have been serving in Balmain before. But I can definitely say that Karl definitely does not embody Chanel. Chanel was old, stiff, and Gabrielle herself even despise pop culture and trends. Remember that Chanel was in the bring of ruin before Karl came in. And what does Karl brought to Chanel if not those two? As for Virginie, she's a mess. I can see her torn between Chanel's stiff and classic sense of fashion and Karl's sense of modernism. That's why you see her designs and styling a lotta mess. What you see in Chanel and what people loved in Chanel is not Gabrielle, but Karl. People back then despise Chanel, simply because Gabrielle was so old-fashioned, and not to mention, she's a n*zi spy.
To be fair, Coco Chanel was more of a businesswoman herself and she'd probably not be into Karl. She was not a nice person and stole designs, she made it because she was smart in doing business. She was also a spy for Nazis just to protect her own personal interests. This person was glorified and praised when I was studying fashion but in reality she's more of a Thomas Edison instead of Nikola Tesla...
Is Chanel was alive she’s be a neo-Nazi so plz stop
I mean Covo Chanel was a literal nazi so I think shed have more than a few issues with modern chanel. Thankfully I dont care about a dead nazis opinion
Ok if she designed all the outfits shown in this video, she's a genius!!! I loved them all! I hope she continues somewhere else where they appreciate her!!!😊
I didnt see obe bad design
Watch an entire show and you'll see plenty of bad designs
Although yes I agree it doesn't mean she isn't talented, it just wasn't a right fit
Same here!
I'm looking forward to what her successor brings, although i'm afraid this may be the start of a series of short-term directors who can't bring the magic.
Her successor is from hr…I’m not holding my breath
@@adriennethiery5432from where?!?!
I think Piccioli is a successor. We will see.
finally.. thank god! K.L was also tacky central *it’s not entirely her fault tho*
This!!!! Tacky is the perfect word.
Yes! I never understood the appeal with KL. Plus there are rumors he was a pedophile 🤢
I'd love if they went back to the early to mid-twentieth century roots and brought back the elegance and sophistication. Not just sticking their brand on cheaply made products, but returning to the craft. They won't, but it would be nice
She’s not a bad designer even if she’s not a good fit for Chanel. I would love for her to start her own brand and see what she can really do without sticking to the motifs of Chanel
I swear I can tell the future of fashion personalities just by judging how half hearted Vittoria Ceretti’s smiles are when she sees them
I noticed Vittoria’s face. It said a lot without words.
Editing is everything…Some of her worst looks were bad not because of the garmets, but the styling…
Exactly 😅
I enjoyed her time at Chanel. I thought her designs continued Coco's legacy for Chanel. It was classic ready to wear that was actually ready to wear and she didn't go into business for herself by making her designs about her. I appreciated it greatly.
that woman is an impressive stylist, i have a lot of respect for her, apart from having been Karl's right hand.... 🥰✨
she's an incredible woman and i'm not happy that she's leaving chanel 💕✨
sisssss, you're so creative and sweet.... 💖 you have all the talent in the world, my deaaar 🩷✨

It's simply time for a radical new approach to the Chanel legacy and not continue in Lagerfeld's footsteps. Remember he completely transformed the close to death fashion house into the company it is now by making controversial decisions!
Can't wait who is going to bring the magic back to Chanel!
I liked her.
It was funny to see her version of Chanel.
I don't think she was in an easy position - as usual - when you create out of somebody else's foundation you are likely more subjected to "what others think is Chanel" and get criticized.
I wish her a satisfying career wherever it will lead her.
She can just start her own line. It looks like people wanted her to carry in his vision forever.
Good for her. Happy for her.
I like the pink dress and pink shiny top though!!! ❤❤❤😊😊😊
That dress is to be burnt. That’s not good.
The Dress ugly and are her collection.
She’s good to write a tip book on how to make basic fashion luxury clothes 101
Karl Lagerfeld was infinitely more creative human ever IMO to be the one to return Chanel to its former glory. Just because she was his right hand designer doesn’t mean she had the KL touch. It’s because he made it look so easy. For him sketching designs was like walking is for most people. He also had a penchant for interior decor, jewelry, accessories and of course starched white collars, ascot tie long morning coat. He was always very stylish creator. You can see the models crying on their runway walk as it’s the first one they did after KL died. There are a few long and detailed interviews he did including sketching to show things like what he wore as a boy, his mother had a huge influence on him and he sketched her too. They really loved him.
Idont get it...i loved the outfit with the pink skirt... ❤
😮 or it was her work all along?
I hope wherever she goes she is appreciated 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
People who don’t know fashion history or the history of Chanel want to hate on her. Completely foolish and ignorant. All of these haters can’t actually articulate what they didn’t like , they’re just hopping on a popular yet misguided opinion.
She’s derivative and doesn’t represent what Chanel stood for. Chanel was an innovator and relied on minimalist luxury. The rehashed tweeds, and tacky Karl leftovers have made the label staid and banal. It’s not deep, she’s making grandma clothes
Temu and SHEIN are rolling out good designs at the background 😂
😂
Gigi AT thé end i can't take m'y eyes on her wow ❤
Y’all do realize she was basically forced to make 10 collections per year for last 10+ years right
How beautiful i love that pink dress
I loved every thing I saw in this collection
She is short changed, she is talented, what are they criticized for?
She needs to start her own brand....Chanel's design language and heritage are too suffocating
If I’m not mistaken Karl designed the spring 2019 HC show but he was too sick to come out at the end of the show.
The fact that she literally the one that built Chanel again from the ground up because Karl wasting a ton of money for those glamorous show at the end of his career, but all the non buyers hated, and trashed her work is crazy to think.
She was still the best successor for Lagerfeld. With her gone, there is no successor. No more Chanel then.
Vittoria Ceretti is so beautiful. She’s the most perfect fashion model who ever existed.
that should be me…
I couldn't even afford to buy a Chanel collection.. no matter who's their creative director 🤣
The only comment I can relate to. 😅
Just because her designs are actually wearable ❤
Oh Thank goodness! It's been really hit or miss, mostly misses, with her collections. I hope someone amazing comes in like Sarah Burton, from Alexander McQueen, or perhaps some other amazing talent!
I love it how people make up stories based on what they think and nit based on research and exploration. But that takes time and effort. As an ex-model, i found the industry is vicious, especially towards women, which is ironic!
They're all beautiful 🥰
I loved her designs and take on the on couture. She was able to mold new looks for the brand that didn’t compromise the identity of the brand. It’s not easy to work with someone else’s label and be as successful as she was ❤
The French had the fashion by the horns I mean such elegance women wore clothes that fit them and were modest now they walk on runways in bin bags vulgar bring back the class and beauty plz
💯
It’s so much easier to be a critic than a creative. I hope she does super well on her own bc her designs are beautiful.
Thank you for bringing Loli Bahia into the scene 🖤 I couldn’t thank you enough. You have such an eye for beauty!
I nvr follow fashion so closely, but those pieces she made is still very Chanel ~ly .. I see her work also look decently good
That last presentation was iconic
often thought a team of graduates / inspiration ist types
taking over for a season or two with many brands would be a fun and exciting shake up
Hoping it’ll happen one day
Not a problem for me , most time these so called fashion designers don’t reflect real people 😮😢
❤I love the silver beautiful style ❤❤The lady looks Wonderful!❤
I always thought of Channel was the clothes that literally were TIMELESS. You could wear Vintage or new & always look styalish. Channel was "Boring" THAT'S WHAT IS WANTED FROM CHANNEL...I want a signature jacket or dress or skirt etc... nothing flashy
This episode made me cry 😭
Don’t think I can watch the next episode 😢
Designer fashion brands sound more like a movie studio these days
I think the issue people had with her is the styling of not only the clothes on the runway, but also what was given to the Chanel ambassadors for events. I definitely remember some recent carpets where the outfits given didn't look like they were chosen for their ambassadors but just randomly selected. I know she is talented and hope for her own line without having to stand under the Chanel brand and expectations. I do wish Chanel went back to the classic style with a modern cut. Gigi showed a current look for Chanel with vibes from the Coco expectations.
Love that 1st one it's fresh it's beautiful
I think people need to come to terms with the fact that after an artist or creator dies, their vision, art and style for a brand they’ve worked on or for for decades will never be the same again. The closest a successor might come to is just recreating something that the original designer did with a few tweaks here or there but anything new and original will always feel “not right” to outsiders looking at Chanel always expecting it to continue looking the same.
I work for one of the biggest department stores in London. Chanel saw a huge surge in sales since she took over. I don’t know what these people are talking about. 🤷🏽♀️
Was that Gigi at last? Do someone know which runway was it?
Yes 👌💯👍 that was absolutely Gigi
@@scorbunny7737 Do you know which runway is? Her walk was so good there
Her designs are beautiful
I’m from the peasant class so maybe I would not know good style like a luxury fashion designer, but I think all those outfits are great 😌
This made me crave Project Runway so bad…of course these are top tier👌🏾
Omg now I’m getting Lady Featherington vids in my recommendations. This is the rabbit hole I needed to fall into this relaxing Sunday afternoon
I think her creations were absolutely incredible this is so sad
Я дождалась!!!
Those grey patented boots, though ❤❤
That last outfit that Gigi had on ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I think the problem was that it wasn’t exciting enough. After Karl’s passing I feel like the house needed a big moment. Her creative direction has been very much “oh, yeah… I like that” instead of WOW
I love the blunder styling ❤ so liberating... I think Channel's most progressive work, Chanel was always progressive and about breaking barriers ...before Karl.
The clothes look like something you can wear instead of that other designer where have a dress made from aluminum foil or the dress is worn from the head upside down.
Are you sure it was her designs that didn't make money or the price hikes that people wouldn't pay?
Chanel also needs to check their quality as well!
Your voice is extremely calming.
I always felt it wasn’t the pieces (mostly) but more the styling was problematic
People are starting to see through it all. All of this money, the facade...yes these designers are talented but the truth is that there are millions of artists that could do what she does had they the support, team, money, and more money. I believe that people are waking up and seeing that behind all of this luxury is an ugly and evil spirit and they don't want to give their hard earned money away to it. It's truly being seduced, to think that you're part of something elite when really you're just a sucker.
This designer has extraordinary pieces!!! ❤
i need another update for the first story.
I think you are the best reader ever!!
You are so funny!!
I didnt see anything that a normal woman would wear jackets with no shirts. Kookoo!
On point this was my read❤💯
Actually K.L was the designer who brought chanel more exposure thanks to His risky designs, and His various designs are good! Just the time wasn't chosen correctly, and they bloom whilst withering splendidly.
I actually really liked the designs
The pink Dress was from one of Karl’s last collections, I believe the 2 to last one
Maybe it’s time to put a check on the prices too.
Viard and Chiuri. It's very common when the right-hands can do same thing, presenting excellent works like previous OG designer.
What did she say at the end please? Hard to follow with the accent - the closed captions said "but the absolute blunder styling just joined it all...", which doesn't make any sense. Maybe the "just joined" should read "disjoined" and what she was trying to say was that styling blunders caused the shows to look disjointed?
But one thing people are forgetting is that the retail clothing side of Chanel went up 26.8% so she wasn't doing all that bad but yes there has not been that excitement about the shows. She’s quiet and people want that sort of wow factor lol gave that I’m betting that Jeremy Scott will be the next designer. He is the one that can do it him or the two dudes from Delpozo either would be amazing .
Agree bc the ambassadors of Chanel struggle on the red carpet Margot Robbie and Jennie from Black Pink in particular her Met Gala looks
The font was too small for me to read could someone summarize?❤❤
Maybe we need some new and upcoming designers to start designing for big brands like Chanel instead of people like Virginie 🤷🏽♀️ and a whole new team of stylists because I never saw anything I would buy being made by Chanel
I thought her work was brilliant! The Library was just amazing.
the problem is once a designer dies…their creations die with them. There is no way that even someone who was rlly close to the designer could create something that made the brand famous in the first place mostly in this Generation where the fashion trends change so quickly…where Shops like Shein, Temu and what not bring out new pieces every single day and not only 5 per day but over 1000. I want to become a fashion designer one day but I fear that it wont happen bc of fast fashion
I think people should definitely care about how someone is in their personal life especially if they’re going to be a president. It shows what their morals are and it’s crazy some things he’s been accused of that people gloss over
