When he was quiet at the end and just restarted the song... I felt that. I did the same thing when I first heard it. It's insanely rare that a song just pierces the heart of the SO many issues. He did it tho.
@@ktmxcw4501 Same here. That silence after the song brought tears to my eyes like the first time I heard it. Best reaction video I've seen. Very moving.
I had the privilege of seeing this man perform live last night in Glasgow, Scotland. He is an incredibly normal guy, loves his fans, loves his life, and exudes morality. If he's performing near you, PLEASE buy tickets, I've been to some massive gigs, but this little 2000 capacity venue was by far the best. So much feeling amongst the crowd and coming from the stage. He is all of us ❤
You know something is true when it hurts. I´m Spanish and I have felt it into my bones, this song is not only about U.S. , this song is about all of us.
The line "Young men are putting themselves 6 feet in the ground because all this damn country does is keep on kicking them down" just hit so hard. A society that forgets about and doesn't care about their young men is in for a lot of trouble. Hollywood and everyone keeps telling these men that their toxic and women are brought up to hate men it's all heading down a path of destruction. Oliver touched on so many things, he just struck a cord because any sane person can see how bad things are getting. Plus I just love the title "Rich men north of Richmond" meaning Washington DC, it's just perfect! Love your reaction sir!
Agreed. Masculine men are valuable, valued and appreciated. It’s heartbreaking to see statistics here in Australia, and world wide of young male suicides, losing to the spirit of overwhelming hopelessness. Elites don’t care if people die, in fact that’s exactly what they want. Let’s hold our men up to stay strong. Both masculinity and femininity can be toxic. Love each other. It’s that simple. Much love from a fellow new Aussie fan🇦🇺💫💪🏽
I agree that the line hit incredibly hard, but I don't quite agree with your analysis of the problem. Young men are in trouble because they don't have a shot at a secure normal life. They need job opportunities where they can earn a decent living, enough to pay for groceries, rent, bills, healthcare, and yes even some spending money just to enjoy life. They need to not be worked to the bone, underpaid and undervalued. They ultra wealthy are bleeding young men dry to maximize their profits. Their greed knows no end.
Have no shame, I did the same. I did not expect it. I have four sons, one in the service, two that are struggling. This hit home hard. I feel this song is going to stir something big in this country, this song is dangerously based and I hope the Rich Men North of Richmond are uneasy tonight. I am not a man driven to tears, this is a wake up call for me to how serious the crap we're in is. God bless you and yours, never give up, you're not alone.
I worked a lifetime, cared for my parents as they died in my arms, then Covid came and I lost everything I had. Bankrupt, lost my home, I’m living in a trailer in the Arizona desert. Im 60 and now have cancer, I’m just an old soul living in a nightmare world..
I'm a pretty hard nosed country girl and crying isn't normal for me but for some reason this song hit me really hard. I think it's all the stress I've been under just trying to feed my family and pay my bills. He's right. It's all just to much to bear anymore. Not sure how much longer I can hold it together 😞
When companies like Blackrock and Vanguard are together worth about 12 TRILLION dollars, wealthier than almost every country on Earth, yet we have so many working themselves to the bones trying to keep their head above water. Something is very wrong.
I am from germany, even over here this song catched fire - It's exactly what you said, all over the world the working people can relate to this song, can feel what he felt, writing this lyrics. I think everybody of us, knows some young man who's six feet under the ground by choosing so. Its the epidemic of pain and lonelyness.
I’m a Texan and we love a good revolution. This song is revolutionary. There could be lyrics for this song that would speak to local situations anywhere and still be globally understood. Talk about bringing the world together!!!
I'm a 62 yr old Canadian and this is where the world is at now. I've seen it change and it makes me cry. Maybe we can change it back? How bad will it get for my kids and Grand kids? Something has to happen. Please.
Early 30s here. Our generation and younger in the know realizes it's over. It's unsustainable and impossible to reverse, we're just hoping for the opportunity to pick up the pieces and rebuild when everyone else realizes it.
@@pocketsand4225 I'm in my early thirties as well and your defeatism is that exact mindset that is part of the problem. You think it is hopeless, so you would just lay down and hope not to die? You Fight. You Rage against that dark night and change it. It is never over till you say it's over.
@@terryhiggins5077I plan to FIGHT like the lives of my family is at stake…the people that are driving all of this are terrified that we will collectively just tell them to FO and what happens is….well history gives us examples after examples and the “Elites” always ALWAYS receive their just deserts! i think theyre doing it because they want to hoard natural resources because the Sun is about to micronova and reset civilization in the next 50 years. Things are only going to get worse.
@@terryhiggins5077 That's why stuff like this song is so important. The true heart and soul of the US isn't in it's big cities or it's political establishment, it's in the blanket of free men and women spread out across this great land, and we need to be reminded that there are more of us than there are of anyone else in this country. We are tens of millions strong, and we ARE powerful. Powerful enough to change everything right now, this very fucking day, if we could just come together in the middle and realize who the true enemies are.
From the States and no one has ever heard of him. This is the song of the century and speaks to all of us around the world who are done with the elites pushing us down. It’s time to push back
We have to change what we put our attention to. Stop supporting everything they do and start supporting each other. Turn the bud light situation into their forever reality. Fighting them will never work, they benefit from every fight. Just ignore them, narcissists can't stand it 😂.

this man has made the world cry all at the same time with a guitar and a mic......one of the most moving songs I have ever heard, and I am a life long musician
I think one of his friends helped him record this in his backyard. He lives off the grid on a farm in West Virginia. We're all learning about him for the first time. Good soul. Talented soul
Agree 100% with you! As a South African, this song brought me to tears. People all over the world, feeling hopeless and broken can FEEL Oliver's song right in the marrow of their bones ... I did. Great reaction ❤
I've seen comments from folks in the UK, Iceland, Germany, Brazil. Glad I get to add SA to that list. It seems to resonate across the world 💘 God bless you! 😊
This is awesome. From the farmers in SA, the truckers in Canada, Dutch farmers, insane lockdowns in Australia. . . Not to mention all the exploitation of underdeveloped countries. People, wake up. Your government don't care about you!
Hello to you in South Africa, I lived there for 20 years and I have been back home in the UK for a long time now. We are all suffering a similar problem wherever we are - it’s this WEF globalist plan.
"Not just minors on an island somewhere." This line was the boldest line of all. I've been watching reaction videos, and some miss it, and some get it immediately. That issue should unite us all.
I actually, through Internet research, had new about Epstein island since 2018 and I’m just a normal working American lady in my 50s, I never told even closest friends about it because I knew it was too much and they wouldn’t believe it but in my heart, I truly felt when that came out, the world would change because it would be so outrageous. I’m so disappointed and sad and angry, that so many people know what it is and what it means and nothing has been done about it. Epstein has gotten off One way or another whether you think he killed himself whether you think they killed him or actually he is ghosted & is on an island somewhere, the hundreds of other people that did things to those kids have not paid, and nobody seems to care. 🤬🥺😭🙏
I think that line is a great indicator whether or not that reactor has an ear to the ground of what's been going on in the world. When you see them get it, it's like a moment where "Yeah, me and this reactor are on the same wavelength. We don't even have to say anything more to each other." It's like the line, "They think you don't know, but I know that you do." We're in the camp of "we do"... We know.
I'm an old soul, 69 years old, I'm white male, I cry, seeing people all around the world relating to this song, I pray, this will bring everyone together, especially at this time in our world.
I still love zooming in on the face of the people hearing this for the first time. You can’t even analyze it because this is a song that just evokes a feeling. We all cried and didn’t know why. To see other people hear it for the first time never gets old. I love to go back and watch these when o need good vibes and when I want to smile
That pause you had speaks volumes. You were at a loss for words, and that’s exactly what us blue collar workers feel every day. This truly is the perfect song.
I hope not.. but this brought to tears….. this is got to be the song of the Century. I got imagine 90% of the people feel the same way, this song even if….. it just eats me up inside, we all need God, please pray for us all around the world
It wouldn’t matter even if he was a one hit wonder because this song alone blows %95 of this new country music out of the water. And it is better than any music made by CMT.
This whole situation encapsulates the 99%. It's not a major celebrity, it's a common citizen making a song in the sticks not thinking it's going to be heard by many but ending up going world wide because everyone feels the same way. That's why this is going viral.
So many of us have become numb to our current situation. This man resurrected our angst. This song makes you FEEL again. Yes, I am an old soul in this new world.
He’s from Appalachia America. The history of the Appalachian Mts is a big part of American history. When the big Irish immigration happened in the late 1700’s early 1800’s they didn’t find America to be the land of milk and honey as the east coast was mainly English or English decent people who treated them the same as in the British islands. Many moved west to the mountains to form their own communities and live free. They are still communities of people who love America but want to be left alone to live their lives. While many are poor or working class they still live self sufficient lives for the most part. In many ways the Appalachian people of America are some of the best of us. They never lost their drive to just say NO to tyranny, speak their minds and resist. My Irish ancestors came out west to Texas for the same reasons. Texas at the time was mostly populated by the Germans not the English and the Germans somehow didn’t get the memo of how the Irish were to be treated. We formed strong communities with the Germans. My Appalachian brother speaking truth. ❤️
We are our own people. Southern WV, Eastern KY, SW Virginia, Western NC, East TN and North Ga have more in common with each other than we do with the rest of our own states.
Thomas Paine distributed a flyer called "Common Sense", (People had enough), it was a wakeup call that started the Revolutionary war. Be interesting to watch if Oliver just did the same w/this one simple heart felt song. Ya know? You do. Great reaction, he sung what was in our hearts and haven't said.
the thing is then, when Paine wrote, it would have taken any authority in the region of months or years to do anything about it. The Atlantic Ocean (for example) is not the natural barrier to tyranny it once was...
true, but that works both ways... It was never in the history possible to reach and (deeply) touch and motivate so many people so intense in such a short time... This WILL have consequences and I expect for the positive changes which are highly needed @@LordEriolTolkien
@@LordEriolTolkien Of course, I agree. But it still may be the spark to open eyes beyond the allegiance to said parties, citizens against the other, and realize it is our own Government that is against us all. #1 on Itunes. The world has been waiting for this song...for Oliver Anthony. Never has a song ripped my soul out like this. I can't even explain how this song makes me feel. Absolutely incredible!!
For the past couple of days, I've been captivated by these reaction videos. It's profoundly moving to observe the moment of realization on people's faces, when what they've always known deep within them rises to the surface. The voice of the silent majority, echoing from the heart of the Appalachian mountains, has a resonance that's incredibly touching people all over the world. ❤
My favorite are the left wing people reacting showing contempt on their face at first then 3 lines into the song it all melts away into raw emotion and tears. We all feel beat down right now.
@@Hardworkpays209100%. This song isn’t just right wing. It’s not white, black, yellow, etc. it’s everyone. Watching this reaction and reading the comments let’s me know it’s not just US Citizens that feel this way. It’s not just republicans or democrats. It’s not just left wing or right wing. It’s everyone world wide. It’s amazing.
Oliver was making videos on his UA-cam for a few months without a microphone or anything. This is his first song sung with a mic. I believe it brought all that emotion right out of him and this is the best piece of proper music with true emotion I have heard in a very long time. He is a backwoods folk singer and the people used to sing together in their porch to entertain and explain life. It’s really time it made a comeback!
Here from the uk 🇬🇧 my wife and I cried when we heard this soulful song we are in our sixties it’s for the working classes we need fairness ✝️✝️🇬🇧✊🇺🇸❤️
Your reaction to this song said it all! I had the same reaction, right after laying a friend to rest at the age of 30. Got heatstroke working overtime and later died from it. We're tired of it, tired of losing
My fiance is from Tarneit(Melbourne), now here with me in the mountains of northern Arizona (culture shock). He's also a metalhead. This song brought him to tears. First thing said "This bloody well applies to Australia too". He has special distain for Dan Andrews 😂. This is a call for revolution.
@@ImPistolKnight yeah, he lived walking distance to the river & was commuting to the Bell Post area of Geelong. Ugh, traffic in Melbourne sounds like it's soul crushing as well. The peninsula sounds lovely though. We talk about Clifton Springs if Australia is ever on the table for us.
You know how great a song is by how wide the impact is felt. Here we are, you in Australia and myself in South Africa, affected in a similar way by Oliver's vocal delivery and his lyrics that express what we feel deep down. You have your own Rich Men, as do we here in SA. Stay well.
When it hits so hard it leaves you speechless for a minute and you need a moment to process your thoughts and your emotions. I'm right there with you brother, it was so genuine to just see you vibe and feel the song.
The reason this song hits so GD hard is because we have all been living through a demoralization process. You just responded emotionally to it, it holds up the mirror of how insane this clown world has become. This will stir a spirit that has been long asleep. Can this awaken the sleeping giant ? I hope they sleep restless north of Richmond tonight.
You know it’s good when he’s silent and just rewinds the track. This song hits deep with every working class & poor person across the globe. How this man has united more people than all current governments combined is nothing short of inspiring
Damn! The last time I heard a song that brought tears was Johnny Cash singing "Hurt". I'm not halfway into this song, and I'm tearing up. Both songs tell of universal truth. WOW! You nailed, it brother!
I have never been moved by a song like this did for me. The last time may have been 40 years ago in church. Awesome emotional experience. Thank you Anthony.
Love the fact that before you could respond, you had to hear it again. The emotion on your face and the blank stare right before hitting the play button again said more than words. This song will connect to millions who feel exactly the same all over the world.
I’ve watched a TON of reactions on this song. Yours is by far my favorite. You can tell it is raw and real. You feel this song in your soul as do I. You got a new sub in me.
When you finished the song, said nothing, then started it back over made me laugh so hard because that's same thing I did. Great reaction sir and a howdy from Texas.
I actually thought it impossible for anyone to make a song that I relate to anymore. God was I wrong. Felt every god damned syllable and every chord in my soul. Stay strong brothers! United we stand, divided we fall.
this song has the potential to change the world I swear. Its resonates with everyone. First it makes you sad about the state of the world but the more you listen to it the more angry you'll get that the Rich Men North of Richmond are the cause of it all
The working man's anthem. Great review brother. You did this song justice. I've always said what's happening in the US is going on around the world. We only have one life, one world and we are living it together
exactly what i am doing right now, this song truly is something else, almost enough to start a revolution. it feels as if he is channeling millions of working class people voices through his own. so incredibly powerful
This song made me shed tears. Not of sadness but of rage. Why did we let things get to this point? It also lit a fire in me. Maybe, listening maybe, we can turn it around. Heads we win, tails we lose. I'm willing to flip that coin.
Your silence after the ending said it all. That was exactly my reaction. It is so much to unpack. So much emotion and soul its hard to not get the feels. Every hardworking person truly understands the sacrifice. Its a worldwide issue just like you said. For those that felt this song on a personal level, support Oliver Anthony and follow his career. We all need a voice.
I dont cry much but this song hit my heart! This man singing facts! We all need to be singing facts like this and show the evil elites of this world we have had ENOUGH! God bless all!
There's so much truth, authenticity in him & his music.... Thank you Oliver, you're speaking for generations. God bless you & your family/ friends. 🙏⚖️🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸⚖️🙏
The lyrics are so powerful that so many of us are speechless after hearing it. We are speechless because the deep lyrics, and his powerful emotion which resonates with us all. It is clear to me that we all -HUMANITY- just want the same things in life. We must stop allowing the Government to divide us, and use us as their piggy banks. Our families fled that tyranny to come to a new world to start over. Slowly we allowed them to gain control of us -again. We cannot let them divide us anymore -- it is time to come together and reel in our Government before they truly destroy us.

If this doesn't hit your soul directly you don't have one. I cried when I first heard it. I wish i could just wake up and it not be true but it is... oh it is... a profound and sobering reality check. He struggled with alcohol and depression when he fell to his knees and prayed to God. People all over the world are resonating with this song. From Pakistan to South Africa to Vietnam to Europe. It's the most powerful song I've heard in a very long time. Completely authentic.
This man is incredibly talented. He sings straight to the soul. I am in the UK and I realise that ordinary working people like us, wherever we may be in the western world, are dealing with a common problem.
Oliver has spoken to billions of hard working folks all around this planet! 🤬🥺😭🙏

I just checked iTunes and he has 10 songs in the top 20, with this one being #1
This whole situation encapsulates the 99%. It's not a major celebrity, it's a common citizen making a song in the sticks not thinking it's going to be heard by many but ending up going world wide because everyone feels the same way. That's why this is going viral.

PERFECTLY SAID MY FRIEND!!

As a Black American I don't listen to country music but this song and Jason Aldean should make us all realize we have a lot more in common than not. Let's get together and get rid of the folks trying to divide us. At the end of the day poor doesn't have a color. Trump 2024

Amen. As a white woman I have always listen to soul, r&b music. We are all family no matter the culture, color, or belief. We need to somehow remember that. Much love brother ❤
