Potato Cheese Pie

INGREDIENTS
• 1Kg/ 8-10 Medium Potatoes
• 150g/ 1 Cup Bacon
• 3 medium Onions
• 6 Eggs
• Black Pepper
• Salt
• 250g/ 2 1/2 Cups Grated Cheese
Step 1
Cut the potatoes into small cubes and place them in a medium pan. Add cold water over them until they are fully covered. Bring them to boil for about 20 minutes or till you can stick the fork in them easily.
Step 2
While the potatoes are boiling we can prepare the rest of the recipe. Cut the bacon into small cubes and then slice the onions Julien. In order to give a better taste we have to cook the onions in a fry pan until they get golden. Then we add the bacon and cook it for 3 more minutes.
Step 3
When the potatoes are done first we have to drain them and then place them in the baking tray. Now let's season them with black pepper and salt. Spread the cooked onion and bacon all over the potatoes. Crack 6 eggs and season with salt. Beat them very well and pour them in the baking tray.
Step 4
The final step is to grate 250g cheese. Add half over the potatoes and then mix them a bit. At the end spread the rest of the grated cheese and place it in the oven at 190°C for 30 minutes.

My nan used to make a cheese pie and since she passed last year I've been making them for me and family. Instead of chopped potatoes she used to mash them, mix in cheese while the mashed potatoes were hot, add a couple of sausages, bacon and onion. Then top it off with cheese and some cherry tomatoes put it in the oven for 30 mins on gas mark 4 and serve with baked beans.

I added chicken fillet cut in pieces instead plus, 3 different cheeses, small chillis, garlic and it came out really well... served with salad on the side, Yummy!!

You won't regret the choice! I simply love it! It's for 4 servings and in case you are preparing it only for yourself, you can microwave the rest of them once you want to eat them (or use a preheated oven) or you can split and reduce the ingredients. My potato and cheese pie was made with all in Greek ingredients it was so lovely and yummy are used all Greek herbs and Greek sweet cheese

I made it for me and one other person for two people it was so nice I used Greek ingredients I used a sweet Greek cheese and Greek mixed herbs and I followed the recipe but I made it just right for two people so lovely everything was made with Greek ingredients I'd love to get a few tips and more ideas to make another pies like that and I love your UA-cam channel and your accent I'd love to be as good as a cook as you are

2 grated cheese or mozzarella chese Linda Hendl 3 potatoes and 1 tablespoon of pepper and a pinch of salt and 1 sliced onions that’s all.enjoy
I made that for years but don't put egg in just keep layering tatty onion bacon cheese par water over leave in oven 3hours first hour half way then on law it's lush xx

Hi! Thank you! To be honest, I've never tried to freeze any cooked meals so I have no idea how this will taste and be preserved in be freezer 😊 You can try with 1 serving to check if it has the same taste!
You can't heat the potatoes, it's dangerous to health ...nitrites turned to nitrates when heated just like rice and chicken as well, so cook them only for one eating for all
Sorry to disagree I've frozen cooked potatoes in freezer bags and they've kept for months. I quite often do this at Christmas. Just ensure you let them thaw out before cooking and make sure they are piping hot and they are safe to eat.
Babs Reynolds It would be safe to freeze this recipe but instead of using cooked bacon it would be best to use raw bacon for the first cooking and that would prevent the bacon from being cooked again when it's thawed out and reheated.
