Thom you are right family is the most important thing. Sorry for the loss of your mom. My mom is in a nursing home, and it’s been ruff trying to see her. And thanks for the video on the No-ox!
Thanks for the comments and your condolences. Nursing homes are never great places to be but it’s really challenging right now. KU hope things get better for her and you. Stay safe!
I am amazed at how fast you can put out videos. I end up having to catch up on a couple at once! After reading all the suggestions I only have one thing to add. Just make sure that when the locomotive is sitting right side up, the copper strips that provide electrical connection from the trucks to the chassis have good contact. I say this only because you had the body off the chassis. Went to a memorial service to day at my Fire Station today and marching in the Memorial parade tomorrow, but hope to get some time on the layout tomorrow. Be safe and enjoy the holiday.
Thanks, Maurice. My videos are improv, unscripted. Of course, JMRI dictates how I do my switching. Are you talking about copper strips that ride on the wheels? This locomotive doesn’t have them. I didn’t take the trucks apart so I. Shouldn’t have messed anything up, but the shell is certainly a tight fit. Tightest I’ve seen, so there is possibly some binding, but that would show up everywhere, not just on a turnout. Thanks for your community service and I hope you get some time with your layout. Take care!
Glad you got to have some fun with your layout/trains, Thom. It's important to not let it turn into a "job" where you feel like you have to video it every time and so on. Take care and have a good long weekend. It's important to remember those who gave all while serving our country.
Yeah, I need to do more of this instead of videoing everything I do. I enjoy the videos, but there needs to be a balance, I think. Both of my Grandfathers and my Dad were veterans, wish I could visit their graves tomorrow. Take care, Roy.
I'm glad to hear you try no-ox , I've been using it on my n scale for about a mouth on, and quite pleased with it, I'm also using it on my G scale out side just to see if it's gon'a work throw the summer, by the way, I'm enjoying you videos very much, love switching most of all my self
Out side on the G , I put a small deb about every four feet on both rails and let the locos spread it around, My G track covers around 100 ft. On the N layout, I only applyed to the straight track, not the curves, My first mistake was putting on the curves, and then I had wheel slip, so I removed it and that helped, now that also depends on how many cars your pulling. On my small N layout , I have many curves, and one loco will slip, like I sad, how many cars you pull. Rail on
@@SD40F2 I hope it works. I still have a couple of track powered locomotives on my garden railroad, so may have to try it if it works for you. G scale is so heavy that I’ve never had any operating problems with it. Good luck!
Hi Thom, it’s pronounced Rab-johns. Glad to hear the no-ox worked. I may have to use some no-ox on my life-like sw8 switchers (they are a bit on the light side). Please keep posting as I find your videos very informative (gives me ideas for my layout and how to operate).
Thanks for letting me know. My name is constantly mispronounced so I want to be sensitive to others whose last name isn’t Smith or Jones. ( it’s Play-sir, BTW). Thanks for the compliments. I’ll be posting one tonight on scenery progress. Take care!
Lol. So I put No-Ox in my cart on Amazon, months ago after viewing Ron Marsh’s video, but have yet to purchase, mostly due to shipping cost. But weekly, I get a reminder E-Mail from Amazon. Will purchase once enough other items added to the cart.
There are also some cv settings that add pulse power to the engine. I don’t know what they are as I use JMRI to program them. That might also help. Good to see another testimonial on No Ox
My problem is that I want my engines to be like my TV. Hook it up and go, no need to fine-tune anything. I don’t need to tweak anything to watch ESPN or ( more likely in my house) HGTV. Every channel works. Why can’t trains be like that? I have a few engines that will move at speed step 1 and others have to be on 30 to get it to move. And I really have 0 interest in that end of it. I just want to run trains! That’s why you are my tech support at times. 😁
Can someone put into perspective for me “breaking in” an engine? I’ve got new ones that run fine. I haven’t had a loop of track until this week. Should I be running them for a while?
I’m not really a good one to ask since I have the same experience as you do. I’ve never tried to ‘break-in’ an engine until this one and I really didn’t notice any difference after doing it. Are you familiar with ‘spookshow’? If you Google spookshow n scale, I think he may have something to say on the issue. I think it’s more to do with wearing the black gunk off the wheels than loosening up the drivetrain.
Sweet, I’ll check him out. Until then I won’t break any in. I’ve not had an issue and had a layout for almost two years now. Appreciate you getting back to me, and I like your channel! You know what you’re talking about!
Love the T shirt Thom.
Thanks, I had to open the video to see what I was wearing! Take care!

You flatter me sir, I'm honored. All good suggestions from the comments.
Yes, they were all good suggestions and I’m grateful for them. Take care!

Thanks, Dan. Seeing how long it lasts outside will be interesting. How did you apply it? Thanks for the comment. Take care!

I think you’ll like it. It’s not a miracle cure for everything, but it definitely helped. Stay safe!
I think there was a guy with 5 Minute Modeler that also suggested mineral spirits to clean the tracks. But then he also used a Bright Boy
What happened to that guy? He had some good ideas, made a 8 minute video, and disappeared!😜

If you have a MT coupler height gauge can use the side to correct wheel gauge
I didn’t know that. Thanks!

Don't use that stuff use Inox, you can get it at amazon. Bob
I Googled it. Sounds like good stuff. Thanks!
