From one tree to close to a million trees in 10 years! Professor Chapurukha Kusimba has turned a 200-acre rocky land into a forest. The Professor of Anthropology at the American Univerisity in the USA explains how he achieved that and why he is passionate about conservation.

people don't understand the work that this fine professor Kusimba has done, if it was the government of kenya planting this trees it would have cost millions to the tax payer, one man has done more than some county governments, trees are very important and even though i am way behind i try to plant as many trees on my farm as possible, getting good seeds in kenya is a problem and as usual the government fails wanaichi, the government should be serious about improving forest cover, we kenyans will do our part by growing more and more trees.

this is how Kenyans should increase land value, by actually planting and building infrastructure not through speculative investing.

I have watched this a few times. It is really valuable information on how to effectively conduct ecological succession with villagers (local stakeholders). This story is not only for Kenya, but for the whole world.

Very good job Prof. It is a pity only 6000 Kenyans have viewed this. God has blessed us with a beautiful country but too many people are oblivious of the opportunities available. But as the Prof has demonstrated here nothing comes easy - we have to work hard for years before we can see the fruits of our labour.

Good job Chap! Glad to see the establishment of indigenous forests and am sure the recovery of hedgehogs, porcupines etc are dependent on them. Likewise the birds. A real success story!

Great encouragement .This reminds me of genesis story when God created our first parents and gave them a shamba to take care, every one has a roll to play in planting and taking care of trees. Let's take care of this green blacket and it will take care of us now and in future.
