I have been to China a couple of times though only for short visits, but being there I could sense that Chinese people are very serious about their country. The development that I saw on the ground was just remarkable. Just to give an example, we were traveling through a highway-like road and the hundreds of trees all around that road were dead straight and of the same size. I attended the CANTON FAIR there, the place was gigantic, and on that day the fair's attendance was over 700,000 people from all around the world. China has grown from strength to strength over the past few decades and is the only country on this planet that has officially brought millions of its people out of poverty. Does the West have any such example? Instead of wasting money in useless wars, China is working for the betterment of its people and the West simply doesn't like it. I have no doubt that the next agricultural revolution will come out of China and China will become the source of providing food globally. I think it is time now that the West change its mindset and policies toward China and instead of trying to contain China, they should join China's efforts for the betterment of mankind and spread it across the globe, learn and share experiences, I swear this world could be a much better place then what it has now become. Simply put, China cannot be contained, no matter what.

Just thought it would be a fun thing to share, when i was in primary school in China on national tree planting day the whole school would go out to places across the city to plant saplings. We would go out collectively in classes and be divided into small groups, all the parents are present too to teach all the kids how to plant saplings and help them in the process. After planting you can decide to leave a little name tag next to the tree telling you the person that planted it and the date planted, this way in the future you can find the tree that you had planted. We would often go back in groups out of our own interest to find the trees we planted and see how much it has grown! It is a significant part of my childhood and i hope more schools around the world can have this wonderful opportunity open to their young ones!😊

Mossy earth somehow mixed several projects together, and analyze it for the de-desertification. There are areas, specifically in south China, companies rent the land, Hills and planted trees harvested for paper making, and lumber as you mentioned, but for those planted in desert is not allowed to cut down for any purpose.

China plants more trees each year than the rest of the world combined and you can check this straight from Google Academics, and the only reason you don't know about it is because a lot of people don't want you to know, there are countless technologies and experiences about tree planting comes from it that can be extended to other Asia and Africa countries. First there should be enough wet, then grass shows up and grows enough and dries up. wet, shady and organic content ( dried leaves) place is where micro organisim live. micro organism eat the dried up leaves and dies as its time comes will become compost. In a next rainy season the cycle is created and grass, shade and dried up matter and microbs and compost. if enough food it gives rise to shrubs. shrubs give way to small trees. it all depends on how much rainfall that area gets. if it is dryland with minimum rainfall and trees will be small and takes years to grow. and in heavy rainfall it grows fast. healty and big.
my idea is to dig a pit deep of 3 feet square or round of 10 to 15 feet with 5 to 10 feet way from each other. sown a grass seeds and water it regularly or when rain comes pity will fill and will take care for water need for some days due to hallow pit. Grass grows and we will create micro organism atmosphere there. After we satisfied with grass covering plant small trees. grass will hold the water and will not allow water to dry. now we have created the environment to grow. we should not grow mono crop. we should grow multipal varieties of trees so it welcomes wild to it. birds, rats ,pigs deers etc and its predators. birds and pigs deer they eat and shit and will take the seed to far of places and makes a big self sustaining forest.

I'm glad he mentioned the problems with monoculture. Too many tree and plant restoration projects have resulted in major problems. Planting millions of the same tree in huge areas has resulted in forest fires (pine, spruce) which wiped out most of the efforts, as these trees are highly flammable, even in their green state. There are no barriers to fire spread with other kinds of trees. Another, as he pointed out, is pest infestation. Beetles and other insects can spread unfettered if all the trees are the same - they just move from tree to tree. Wildlife may not come to mono-planted areas due to lack of food. Animals come for nuts, fruits, seeds and other edibles. Certain trees don't provide much food source, so these planting areas can remain absolutely empty of wildlife. Other than timber, the control of erosion and the encouragement of rain, these monoculture plantings do not work with nature. Evergreens also discourage smaller plant growth due to acid needle drop. When there is no undercover of the forest floor, there is no spreading of seed of smaller plants to surrounding areas by the birds and other animals. These are sterile plantings and should be discouraged.
Propagation of native plants in a wide variety should be the standard, unless it's just for lumber.

@@tyalikanky WTH, there are a tremendous amount of trees in the United States. We don't have a "Gobi" desert that is encroaching, not even in the Southwest.

@@besomewheredosomething You obviously don't have a gobi desert that is approaching, bc the gobi desert is in china as said in the videos. But yes, the deserts in the us are not really growing as of right now. The only problem is wildfires.

@@michikatsutsugikuni3098 No shit Sherlock, it’s a phrase stating we don’t have anything like the Gobi encroaching, even with the U.S. desert southwest taken into consideration. The wildfires actually help tree growth over the medium and long term.

The afforestation initiatives led by the Chinese government are remarkably impressive and successful. The Chinese people demonstrate exceptional intelligence, as evidenced by their historical achievements. Ancient Chinese civilization developed earlier and exhibited greater advancement in many aspects compared to Western civilization during the same period.
