Steve, I want to say thanks for all the videos! I bought a 1992 F Super Duty a couple of years ago, and a 1996 F150 a few months ago. I appreciate the ability to look ahead and see what a project entails, and it seems like you always have a video for whatever it is! You have made a video version of a service manual it seems! Thanks very much!
I never thought about swapping the connectors on the speaker like that. I've always cut the truck harness and added some spade connectors. Never have had any issues. Most the time the wiring is already modify'd by the time I get to it.
Skitter302 Yeah I was in a pinch when I first swapped the door speakers. Plus I wanted to make sure I could still unplug the speakers whenever. I know what you mean Skitter. I’ve been lucky so far. This guy hasn’t modified much.
I fully sound deadened my truck this weekend. What a difference! Makes me think im driving someone elses. I used noico 80 mil black. It is great stuff.
Cole Rippeon Nice! Isn’t it frickin awesome! Night and day difference! I can actually hear everything on the radio and have a conversation without yelling. Lol How is that compared to Dynamat? Is it cheaper?
@@TheMinuteMasters yea. Its crazy. I never thought it was possible to get these old fords to sound so quiet. And it is around half the cost. 72 sq ft total to do everything. Around 140 bucks in total.
Just found your channel, some really good stuff man- good job 👍. I’ll be checking out more of your videos, some really good info! I have a couple OBS F150s myself - 93 lightning I’m about to kick off a restoration on and a 92 with a 4.9 I’m doing a head gasket job on now. Filming this stuff doubles the job though 😂. Thanks again for the videos, I’m enjoying them so far and subscribed, looking forward to more.
3rd Coast OBS Thanks man! I appreciate it! 🤙 Awesome! That’s a cool collection, especially that lightning! Yup, the filming does make each of my mechanical repairs longer. Lol Thanks again man! If you know anyone else with OBS trucks, tell them about me.
@@TheMinuteMasters will do brother. Seems like we're a small group of guys that love the 9th gen fords but I'll spread the word around try to help your sub count. Looking forward to more. Although I'm a little mad, after I watched your power steering box replacement video I looked at mine and think I need to do that job too (another $200 added to the growing expenses😂). Scared to see what else your going to show me I'll need to fix 😬.
3rd Coast OBS Yup! I’m a member if a Facebook group called OBS Revolution. There’s a decent community on there. It’s funny though. Within the OBS community there’s a lot of sub communities. Broncos, diesels, restoration, daily drivers, and prerunner/desert guys. They all vary in size but that Facebook group has mostly daily driver, restoration, and diesels. That’s good for us though. However, I want to go the long travel suspension route on my truck. Anyhow, thanks man! I appreciate it! Hahahaha! That’s how I feel after Pennsylvania vehicle inspection sometimes. Lol Although this year they didn’t find anything wrong!🤙 Good news is part of the cost of a steering box is the core charge. Well I do have a video coming up that a lot of guys will find they need to do. Lol
I installed my speakers without retrofitting and sometimes they make a popping noise at louder volume… do you think I could fix this by using the original piece like you, or by getting a higher watt radio? I’m just kinda stuck on what to do lol
That’s a good question. I’ll admit I’m no radio expert and I’ve heard there’s a bit of “science” involved with getting these things right. I would try reaching out to a car audio Facebook group or forum for answers.
Thanks for the video and for verifying the rear speaker size. Did you check to make sure the polarity was correct after soldering on the factory connector?
No problem man!🤙 I must admit I didn’t check anything in particular except that the speakers worked once I was finished. Would reverse polarity cause the speaker malfunction?
Hey those speakers at your Ford speakers it's better than what they use in today's cars that's for sure because if you were to take a new version of that truck put that speaker from that new version of the truck next to the old one trust me the old ones way better because if it's lasted that long trust me that thing will last forever actually I have two of them in my bedroom that I use as just straight up stereo speakers cuz they sound great if you put them in the speaker enclosure if they're not like worn down and have a big ears a lot which is what the situation of mine are
I could see that. I think with new speakers, you get what you pay for. I’m sure the old OE speakers were well built and lasted a long time. However, new two way speakers will have tweeters which older speakers may not have had.
Both rear speakers quit working at the same time in my 95 F-150 I don't know what happened my radio equalizer keeps telling me it can't detect any rear speakers. I have a Pioneer 40-10 bluetooth radio. I think the radio might be bad as that happened in my 98 Pontiac Grand Prix gt radio started going out an caused all the speakers to quit except for the driver door speaker.
SPEEEDY95 Yeah a bad head unit can cause issues. The other area to check is the wire harness running next to the door sill on the driver’s side. A couple of those wires belong to the speakers. The sills usual rust and water and crap touch those wires. Definitely check there for any damage.
Sir I need your assistance do you have any video to ajust the doors the mines are came out adjusted, do you think I might change the hinges or its something simple?
I sure can! If your door isn’t closing properly or it doesn’t last the first time it’s normally because the strike pin needs a plastic bushing around it. If your door is sagging and the hinges have never been unbolted then it’s typically the hinge pins that need to be replaced. You can buy the hinge pins in the help section at most auto parts stores. You just have to grind off one side of the original pen and not get through and put your new one in.
Ive got a 95 f150 xlt ext cab, i have to take the whole door panel off to get to the speakers as the little speaker protectors are fixed in the panel, do you know if i will have to take the panels off in the back of the cab to get to those ones?
To do anything with the actual door speakers you do have to take the door panels off. The rear speakers should come out without having to remove the panel around them. It’s at least worth taking a look at.
I’m not running any amp with these. I like the speakers though. They are much better than stock. I can definitely hear vocals better. Nice! 🤙 You will definitely like them.
Thank you for the videos. I have a 92 extended cab and these have really helped me out. I was watching some of your older Dino videos and noticed the rpm/speed which gears do you have in the rear end? Mine is E4od and has the stock 3.55 tag on the case but does 3k rpm at 70 in OD. Is that normal?
Matthew Griffith No problem man!🤙 Glad I could help ya out! Good question. My truck has the AODE/4R70W transmission. It has the highest gears for better cruising and I have 3.08 gear on the rear. At 70 mph, my rpm hovers around 1.9k - 2k.
FYI - If you order speakers from Crutchfield, they include free wiring harnesss, so you don't have to cut off the Ford harness. Factory speakers, even in cars made TODAY, are generally CRAP compared to decent aftermarket ones!
A 6x8 might but I haven’t tried it. The big issue is getting the speaker grill to screw to the speaker itself. That’s where it’s good to have the proper size.
