It was saying to go hide in a secure place due to a tornado in the area. I ended panicking, I am easily scared, so I was in tears when I saw the word tornado. I also have poor geological placement, so I didn't know where we were exactly. Luckily, there was a ambulance at a gas pump by us and my sister went and asked them about the location of where the tornado was going to touch down. We were only a few miles away and after we used the bathroom we left, even though the tornado wouldn't head in our direction. We still saw some effects of the tornado, like the sky being dark as night and rain, thankfully we never experienced the tornado, but still scares me to think we nearly did.
Same thing with me when on a car trip the clouds were so dark and when the lighting was flashing it showed the tornadoe at the distant it wasn’t big, but dalm ,it was scary
Me and my friends were having a sleepover one night and all of a sudden one of the girls radios started blaring the amber alert. we got so freaked and one of the girls started crying. that was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life....

I've always had a fear of the unsettling eas noises when I first heard them. To this day bring 16 years old, I am still somewhat scared of them. But I watch videos on the noises to get more use to them so that I'm aware of the sound.
The noises still send chills down my spine, even when I know they're coming. When younger, they'd sometimes wake me up in the middle of the night when I didn't turn off the TV before falling asleep. But hey, the EAS accomplished their goal. It definitely gets your attention.

Anybody that works or has worked as a first responder, in any capacity, these alerts hold an entirely different feeling for us. If it's a true emergency situation, it just means a real craptastic day for us and any patient's we get.
I live in Hawaii. And I can easily say that the missile alert was one of the most terrifying moments in my life. I panicked and closed all the windows and brought my cat inside. The worst part was waiting and knowing that there was nothing I could do (we would only have 15 minutes until the missile would hit). I texted my family and hoped for the best. I had an awful anxiety/panic attack. Gotta love living in Hawaii, nuke warnings and volcanoes ;,)

If anybody doesn't know why it is called "amber alert", here's why. A girl named Amber went missing. When they found out where she was, she passed away. In her honor, they call it "Amber Alert"

I remember a few years ago, my friends had stayed over and we were up late so we were extremely tired in the morning, we got an amber alert saying that something happened to the nuclear power plant not too far from us and we probably needed to evacuate, but we were so tired that we ignored it and went back to sleep. A few hours later we got another alert saying it was a false alarm 😞

When I was smol, I woke up at like 3 a.m. and didn’t actually look at the time, so I turned on my tv, and was watching a cartoon and one of the practices popped up. I literally started crying in fear. So yea, I get how these can be scary. ;-;

Anybody that works or has worked as a first responder, in any capacity, these alerts hold an entirely different feeling for us. If it's a true emergency situation, it just means a real craptastic day for us and any patient's we get.

I live in Hawaii. And I can easily say that the missile alert was one of the most terrifying moments in my life. I panicked and closed all the windows and brought my cat inside. The worst part was waiting and knowing that there was nothing I could do (we would only have 15 minutes until the missile would hit). I texted my family and hoped for the best. I had an awful anxiety/panic attack. Gotta love living in Hawaii, nuke warnings and volcanoes ;,)

During an assembly at my school a couple months ago, everyone’s phones went off with emergency alerts at the same time warning us of a fire evacuation nearby, ironically during a performance by a classmate of mine where they were singing the Dr. Strange song about the universe ending. I have always been terrified of tornadoes, so you can imagine me being terrified when I looked out my window and saw all of the skies were very dark. Luckily, there was no tornado, but I think that was the most scared I have been while home alone.

Story time:
2 years ago, I had a dance recital. After the recital, me and my mom were driving back home when we heard an emergency alert for a tornado. Keep in mind that it was dark outside, raining heavily, and we were in New Jersey, which never has tornadoes. Probably one of the scariest moments of my life.

The noise traumatized me when I was 5, my mom and dad were showering together (dOnt juDgE tHem) and my brothers were in there room and I was watching tv. And it was really loud and the noise screamed at my tv. I started crying and shaking uncontrollably. My parents found me on the floor shaking crazy and crying. It still scares me to hear it I hate it.
