I'm so glad you enjoyed my version of the track. Being featured in an actual episode of the Jimquisition was something I'd never even dreamt of, so it's amazing to get so much positive feedback from people. I've got some more video game piano arrangements on my channel, so feel free to come and check them out if you enjoyed my work here!
"I hope Star Fox Zero barrel rolls of a cliff into a lake of poison because it's a dumpster full of wasps that's on fire and the fire is made out of racism!" I love you Jim Sterling.
I heard they make a new movie. Godzilla vs Shick Hydro Bot vs Cornflake Homunculus. Apparently Bryan Cranston is gonna have a 5 min cameo in it which will be featured in the movie's trailers.
Still in shock about how popular the Homunculus has been. I'm not overusing its appearance (and really, coaxing it out of the Nightmare Tunnel is a lot of work), but it will be back.
It's an example of Nintendo bringing a game down because of a pretty bad control scheme. Didn't helped that it pretty much felt like another remake of Starfox 64.
There's a difference between being flat out bad and lacking content. No Man's Sky wasn't strictly bad - it just lacked content. The reason that game is so hated goes beyond the game itself. The games showcased on this list were bad in every way possible. They were sloppily put together and looked really cheap. As with Modern Warfare, well...Jim did a good job explaining why it topped his list. I don't believe that makes a game bad, but it is definitely inexcusable behavior.
It IS utter shit on PC because brand new GTX 1080 video cards could barely get it up to 30 frames per second. On some systems that meet the recommended requirements, it won't even run! Not to mention all the crashes on consoles it's built for and bundled with.

Jim Sterling Watch Paint Dry? You know that game was a joke, and the dev only made it just to see if he could get a game on steam without using green light?
Back in my days those steam 'games' would release for free on some game website, because they were projects by *future* game devs, trying to master the art. It's as if you'd go to a museum to see what Rubens was drawing when he was 4 years old.
And IDK if it came out this year but Mirror's Edge Catalyst became the first EA game I've ever liked. Other than my Super Nintendo Desert Storm helicopter game. I like that one, from back when it was "Electronic Arts" rather than "EA".
Wow, you are right! That's an amazing feat to pull off if you are EA - it may be easy for normal people and businesses to not be absolute shit, but for EA it just comes natural.
Kyononnon 'why did Gmail screw me over?' They did fuck up a few times. Releasing Titanfall 2 sandwiched between battlefield and cod. I think I remember some story about them trying to trademark "ghost".
Crazy that 40% of all games on Steam released in 2016. Steam should give devs 6 months to fix games with an overall negative review score or they get removed from the store.
Between the increasingly shameless greed of big studios, and the utter FLOOD of shit games and buggy AAA games, I can see why some feel a second Crash is coming to the industry. I would kind of welcome it, let's nuke everything and rebuild from scratch.
Rad Dudesman Are you kidding me? What the fuck do you think is happening right now? Steam greenlight? Even 'triple A' devs are releasing shit. I'm sure even you have heard of Aliens colonial marines.
Yep. They will fuck over anyone to further their own ends. They rely on mass apathy and their own little fanboy cliques. And don't think their disrespect ends there. Those executives from that well known AAA publisher recently found guilty of insider trading ... are appealing. Good luck with that guys.
Nothing is being done to stop them though, and it keeps happening, so yes they really are getting away with it. Till it stops they are getting away with it.
the soldier at 10:27 gets me every time. he's so earnestly trying to run through that hill. one of these days, horribly designed soldier, you'll figure out how hills work. one of these days. although probably not actually since you're in a shitty steam asset flip hack job.
Aqua Jet I agree, but there's a pretty sizable cabal of gamers for whom NMS is the worst thing to have ever been printed or disc or made available for digital download. Because it's the Internet, and the Internet has to be hyperbolic about everything.
Well, to be fair the fact that they sold it for 60 bucks and marketed it as the next coming of christ sure hasn't helped. But yeah, it's not "bad" per se, just painfully mediocre and surpassed in it's genre by games that cost a third of it's price.
***** At the risk of coming across as being rude, have you been living under a rock for the past few months? No Man's Sky is a game that was released by Hello Games back in June, with a generous helping of Sony's PR support. It's an open-world and procedurally generated universe where every planet in every star system of mostly fully-realized galaxies can be explored. Exploration was and still is the game's cornerstone, but most of its mechanics are either half-baked or liberally taken from other, better survival or building sandboxes. The studio's mouthpiece, Sean Murray, soon became infamous for overpromising. He stated the game would have synchronous multiplayer when in fact the game limits its interactions to seeing which planets and solar systems others have explored, and stated that planets had complete physics systems. They, in fact, don't. The solar systems you visit are static, and planets don't rotate on their axis. Long story short, No Man's Sky's downfall was its aggressive marketing. It's an alright game for twenty bucks or less, but it was sold, packaged and distributed as a fully-fledged retail product. Go watch some videos online. It's a nice and calm indie experience, but not something most of us would be comfortable paying sixty bucks for.
2017 has to be better, because I don't believe the gaming industry as a whole can afford a 2nd year straight of utter cock-ups, consumer abuse, and bold-faced lies.
What are you talking about? 2016 was a great year for publishers. The gaming industry has brought in record numbers of monies for them. I believe the amount earned just from the PC platform is double what it was in 2015. (the know has the exact numbers) All in all it was another record year for the industry. There is no sign of those 2-year cock-ups you talk about in the money people are spending.
MortifiedDumplin Yet those same consumers continue to promote such practice by buying in to those shitty scams. If enough people talked with their wallets, this wouldnt be an issue. And no downloading the game instead of buying it is not talking with your wallet. They trace game download amounts. Im talking flat out boycott. Dont buy it, dont download it, dont look at videos about it. That is the strongest message you can give.
My Reactions: "Call of Duty 4" ...Wait what? "Modern Warfare" Wasn't that a major hit game, like years ago?" "Remastered!" OH! Okay, yeah, makes sense. Cash--grabbing garbage.
"Cry like an anime fan on prom night." This line is so incredibly stupid, because it insults its own playerbase! The only type of video game player this would work on would be your CoD-FIFA-NFL jock, and these people usually aren't interested in Japanese 2D action-platformers, and one dumb line in a trailer they'll definitely never watch in the first place won't change that.
You know, as much as it might make certain people uncomfortable, I don't think that putting an invented slur for (north) korean occupying forces into a game is that big of a deal. It's probably the most realistic thing that game did. You know, based on "charlies", "krauts", etc. from real history.
It becomes difficult when it refers to a people that already exist *and* you use it as many times as you can. It's different from calling the Cylons "toasters" or the Helghast "higs."
Redfoxe Never thought the day would come when I was jealous of something the Chinese government did, but at least they stepped in to stop game companies from fucking Chinese consumers over in terms of loot boxes.
Sure, but good game to bad game ratio in 2016 was atrocious. The literal stat which was said in the video is that 40% of ALL of steams games came out THIS YEAR. You count the handful of good games that came out and mix it with the THOUSANDS of trash games and you get what he's referring to.
Can we just agree that Kotick is practically the Pimp Daddy of the gaming industry? Because like a pimp, the guy doesn't care about the well-being of the consumer base, the outcome of the product, or even the state of his workers or any company that collaborates with his company. All he cares about, is lining his dirty, smelly, constantly stitched on pockets.
10:04 I think that actually has potential, a fighting game starring a load of classic movie monsters, but "triple AAA" publishers would never dare try anything so unique.
Mighty no. 9 Umbrella corp Starfox Zero Playstation VR worlds Slashy souls Here they lie Operation Caucasus Homefront: The Revolution Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare: Remastered Thank me later.
Followed you since... well since you appeared on The Escapist. This video randomly popped up in my stream for some incomprehensible reason, UA-cam usually forces me to actively go to yer channel. Anywho I found, with having this older upload to compare, that I like Jim Stephanie Sterling more then Jim Sterling (that is not to say that I didn't like him). I'm happy for you loving yerself and thank you for years of brain food.
In 2017 nothing will go wrong. Except that one unmentioned cash-in of a certain video game series that has had its creator kicked out of the company and is now littered with shitty zombie survival. I'll see you then I guess.
was trump responsible for terror attacks, genocide, environmental disasters, political debates entirely based on GROWN ASS MOTHERFUCKERS whom are confused as to which bathroom to use, police brutality, retribution of said brutality on people who were just trying to keep the safe, feminazis, et cetra. I know he's an ass but is it really fair to place all that and more atop his overly-elaborate combover?
I just agree with Jim. No Man Sky (before the big update that happened months ago. A well needed update) It just more of a disappointment verses a outright bad game like the ones on the list. Overhyped and with it being marketed terribly and it being released as a Alpha/Beta state, makes it disappointing more then outright terrible. It could have been a great game if it was finished before the release.
I think NMS is more deserving of a spot on the MEDIOCRE Awards list, if he does that again this year. What he hated were the way its fans behaved, the game itself was just dry and boring.
I get the feeling Jim just doesn't really want to talk about Hello Games anymore, until they do something commendable/detestable. Right now, they're just sort of still there, in the wake of a significant string of PR disasters that will likely kill their company eventually anyway.
Arguably NMS was worse than for instance star fox zero, if only for all the promises and bullshit that were bandied around. SFZ was meh, NSM was meh but the latter one was the biggest overall load of bullshit we've had in years, all things considered
This has been a special time for Mr. Sterling. Unlike his traditional Top Ten Shittiest Games of [insert year], this one has been given a quality that's unlike anything he produced, yet it is iconic to the Jimquisition brand. It's almost *THERAPUTIC* in how his opening monologue is handled, how they go straight to business, and how he offers his optimism at the end. I thought the Cornflakes Homunculus was his best....I was mistaken. Thank God for You, Jim Fucking Sterling, son. Thank GOD for you...
What are you guys talking about, 2016 was awesome. Stellaris, MOO, TW, Shogun, Deus Ex, Dishonored, Inside, X-Com, Doom, Darkest Dungeon, Divinity 2, Overwatch, BF1, TR:RoTR, Civ 6, A freaking new Dreamfall, Banner Saga, Tyranny, and so on, and so on, and so on. There is so many damn good games coming out all the time, I wish I had more time to play everything. What kind of games do you guys play? How was this year dry for you, there was pretty much something for everybody.
brajuhani BF1 is a bug-filled disappointment, and as usual DICE likes to break working parts of the game with every patch. Me and some friends have over 200 hours in BF1 so far, so we can tell you what's wrong with it. Overwatch I just don't enjoy, too small teams, ults charge too fast, and there's too many "pro" people that ruin games. Civ 6 < Civ 5 Doom is good, if you ignore the multiplayer part. Dishonored 2 is good, if not played on PC (bad console port) Inside is a decent sidescroller indie game, if you're into those. Every other game you listed I either have no interest in, or haven't even heard of.
I know it is your opinion, but personally I LOVED Star Fox Zero. Once I got a handle of the controls, I felt like a GOD. Dodging enemies, flying like an ace, destroying everything that threatened me. I wouldn't consider it one of the WORST games of 2016. I have played far worse this year (like say King of Fighters 14).
Agree, far from the best I played this year, but Starfox: Zero was fun enough once you got a handle on the controls and I would not even put it in a top 20 worst games this year. But different people, different strokes.
Claus Grimhildr another Starfox Zero fan here folks. I'd say it's probably in my top five games of the year and superior to Starfox 64. Come on Sfz fans. Let's make this thread large enough that Jim Sterling starts to question whether he is in his "right mind."
Dayne Fishwick probably doesn't, the original was one of the first Xbox 360 games I've played so I have nostalgia for it so I was exited for the new one hoping it would improve upon the original. I hoped
I'm thinking of that spilled drink Jim has to clean up after shooting this. What he must go through behind the scenes. Such a generous man. Giving so much.
Jim I really appreciate you doing this because you put yourself through so many crappy games. And on top of it all you get crap for doing your job here on UA-cam. Well Happy New year!
What the hell happened to Onimusha anyway? I only played number 3 and it was easily one of the best games on PS2. I got to live out that fantasy we all have of being Jean Reno killing monsters with a whip and being all French everywhere. Then the series just died.
"I AM NOBUNAGA AND THIS IS MY QUEST. I HAVE BEEN UNDERGROUND WAITING FOR MANY CENTURIES WAITING FOR THIS TIME AND IT IS NOW, IT IS HERE AND IT IS HERE THE DAY OF RECKONING HAS COME. YOU'VE BEEN PRAYING TO YOUR WEAK GODS FOR THIS DAY I DON'T THINK YOU'RE PREPARED, NO GOD, NO WARRIOR, NO MAN CAN SAVE YOU NOW. HIDE YOUR CHILDREN FOR I HAVE ARRIVED!" *proceeds to play halo 3 like a spastic yelling one liners and saying his own name over and over again. I'm sorry but *jackobrien47's* comment made me hysterically remember those halo Nobunaga videos from 8-9 years ago.
Want to know whats really sad? cod4 remastered would have made them plenty of money and the main people who bought it could care less about youtube reviews or any kind of accountability that is needed within the game publishing world
The Kruxed If they released Modern Warfare Remastered with all of the dlc included and Infinite Warfare not included, it probably would've sold a fuck ton of copies.
If we're grading games based on shitty practices from the company, Warhammer: Total War should be on this list for sure. They cut out literally 20% of the entire game's content to sell as day 1 DLC (and/or a pre-order bonus) and sold fucking "blood DLC" again! AGAIN!
Homefront: The Revolution does have a saving grace, however. You can play TimeSplitters 2 in it. Yes. The saving grace is that you can take a break from the awfulness on display by playing a better game within the shit one.
I doubt anyone will notice this comment but for anyone who wants to know the term "Nork" in Homefront is short for *Nor*th *k*oreans. Basically like a Korean version of "brit", "yank" or "kraut".
Hats off to Activision... And no Id say no publisher, is worse then Activision they are scum of the earth... possibly the very reason the game industry has turned the direction it has today, catering to the casual gamer! removing story and gameplay to center graphics and multiplayer heavy titles.
@oldsql -- And yet EA keeps on pushing out some of the best titles year on. And keeps improving itself as a company. Right, but EA is still worse becasue fucking Activision thinks adding micro-transactions to a 9 year old game which was released as a re-master only available if you purchased their current game. That's beyond fucked up. You can keep defending Activision all you want, but the fact remains they are indeed the scum of game industry. EA is far better.
MoronSoldier Oh, for fucksake, "defending Activision"?? That's your accusation directed toward someone who says EA is worse than Activision? Grow up, schoolboy. This is not a zero sum game; one company's shittiness does not take away from the shittiness of another company. Learn how to detach your identity and sense of self worth from your opinions. Don't be an adolescent douchebag who needs everybody to agree with him all the time.
MoronSoldier i am not defending activision, they suck. But Look at Games like dungeon keeper and their unbelievable paywalls in other games, this Is insane! And where are these "best titles"? FIFA? NFS? Battlefront? Same Casual shit every year. Then there Is Ubisoft, constantly showing Fake Trailers and Graphics and also Fake gameplay to sell their shit Games. So pretty much every big Company sucks ass.
Thank you for explaining why these games go on the list over things that are "objectively" worse based on just game play and including the fuck ton of Steam Games that are utter dog shit, instead of just making a click bait list of major titles that everyone hates (but aren't actually that bad) like certain other Video Game Folks.
I'm a little amazed that Street Fighter V wasn't on here. It literally cut out about half the roster, removed story mode, pretty much canned all content for solo players, and reduced it to online only battles with season passes netting you about 5 - 6 characters per for.... what? $30 I think? All while charging a full price. Not to mention how buggy the launch was, and how broken the servers were.
StaticShock42 Actually, I didn't buy it for the above reasons. I'm waiting for the "ultimate edition" to come out, or an arcade mode to come out before I really give the game my attention. Thinking of getting the game itself actually, since the game is just $20 on Steam.
RecklessFire29 This is a great time to get if you are interested. Has a story mode, excellent online netcode, well balances gameplay/characters, and more chars.
you know, steam could probably solve a lot of the issues with flooding their storefront with literal shit if they just do what microsoft did by cordoning off all the greenlit games in something similar to the xbox live indie games system. yeah, there might be a few good games lumped in there, but that's an unfortunate side effect of keeping the rest of the shit off to the side for just those few people who want to jump into that septic tank. maybe even have some metric to track total play time over all concurrent users and let games with a high enough play count move out to the storefront proper. Too bad steam will never do this. seems like an easy way to fix their store, but what do I know. I'm just a consumer. My only contribution if giving steam money when they provide me with good games. of course they haven't provided for the better part of a year, so...
give it some time. once they realize their user-base isn't buying shit because there's too much literal shit around, they'll finally fix things. it's just going to take them a few years, I think. Speaking of, It's going to take 90% of steam's games being releazed in a single year for them to realize there's a problem.
As much as I despise Star Fox Zero, I don't think it belongs on this list. It's "playable", glitch free and fairly well developed. But that damn gimmick ruined it for me, but at the same time, my little sister loves the controls, so I give Nindy a soft pass.
More likely he put Mighty No.9 (made by respected dev Inafune), Umbrella Corps (made by AAA company Capcom), Star Fox (made by AAA company Nintendo), PS VR Demo (made by AAA company Sony and it costed a lot of money) in the same list as other worse games (made by smaller studios). I am sure that there other far worse games exist, but the fact that the aforementioned games were made by AAA companies (and thus they should at least be adequate) secures their place on this list.
GeoGyf I can understand that, but I still feel like it isn't a shitty game. I mean it works, and it wasn't a needless cashgrab that just slaps a familiar IP to gain more sales. SFZ was built from the ground up as a homage to SF64, but Nindy felt the need to justify the dying Wii U's gimmicky controller, which ultimately ruined the experience for a lot of people. But subpar controls don't make a shitty game. Think about Super Mario 64, it pioneered the 3D market, but Mario controls like a drunk forklift half the time, but they tried something new and succeeded. SFZ tried this from the wrong angle though, they "innovatived" to please investors, not because it was best for the gameplay experience, which is why I don't like it. But again, I don't feel like it's a shitty game in my opinion.
Jim, I love this video and the list. Wonderful way to end the year, as always. I just wanted to say that the intro is so impressive. The piano cover was glorious, and that lighting is just brilliant. When you finally broadcast your planetary takeover speech on all devices with a screen, I hope you use the same lighting.
Jim: nothing will go wrong in 2017, it will be a perfect year. EA: hold my beer. *Barf* bAttLefRoNt *burp* FCC: hOlD mY bEEr. *Shits all over the USA and its people*
For No Man's Sky to have made this list, it would have to have been notable.
It was not.
Jim Sterling shots fired
The game itself, no, completely unremarkable. But the PR disaster I feel is certainly notable. At least as much as COD's wankery.
No Man's Sky isn't the only one.
You're not notable either.
Damn, that burn was so hot I'm toasting marshmallows over here.
okay jim I respect you a lot but lets be real
Star fox zero was no where near as notable as No mans sky was
man thats depressing to say
The developer of Operation Caucasus claims to have reported this video for "bullying" and "defamation of character." I now have a little folder of evidence to back me up in case this gets nasty.
Report them back for making shitty games that give people HIV.

That's true. We will give it a pass
i think its a fun idea
It'll never capture the smell.
In all fairness, that Watch Paint Dry "game" was created and put on Steam just to prove a point about Valve's utter lack of quality control.
Steam are just trying to claw back money they spent on both its Steam Machines.
That wouldn't surprise me. They really missed the mark with their machines.
Steam doesn't make any Steam-machines, I don't think they have lost anything with them.
Doesn't mean they are fucking stupid, totally opposite what you need to sell PCs for masses.
Instead of trying to sell wide array of different hardware, as "ready" consoles to people, that are overpriced as hell, being ready package machines, they should just educate people how simple it is today to make own PCs. Shark Fin Gaming
Hah hah very funny! Is that the same Valve that hasn't released Half Life and Left for Dead 3 in many years. They're more associated with Steam and its digital distribution services than video games these days.
man, 2016 feels like an eternity ago and yet at the same time, feels like it just was yesterday.
6 year anniversary of this video. Time flies
That intro theme felt amazingly nostalgic
not a single one of my friends sees the problem with the microtransactions in MW: Remastered. The level of acceptance for things like this upsets me. I already paid for the game, and you expect me to pay for cosmetics in a game I ALREADY PAID FOR?

Not only that.... But there's also the fact that you have to pay MORE for the DLC than you had to pay for in the original release!!!
Jim Fucking Sterling's theme sounds awesome on piano.
It had me thinking of Broken Matt Hardy, quite apt as these obsolete games should be deleted.
Ed Venture yes but he uses it so its like his theme
Really? It sounds like something they would play at his funeral. It kinda depressed me.
Born Depressed. It's in the description.
Just admit it Jim, this is the video you've been looking forward to making all year.
We all have been looking foward for*
i had a boner when i saw it on my uploads list
Zayaan Nashrid I honestly thought I was the only one who got a chubby at this list. Seriously a beautiful, late Christmas present.
4everSolidSnake Please. I came all over my pants as i saw the ending
Zayaan Nashrid Jim Sterling, the man who keeps on giving!
"Mission objectives that can spawn right next to one team, and give them an instant win."
Wait, *_WHAT?!_*
"I hope Star Fox Zero barrel rolls of a cliff into a lake of poison because it's a dumpster full of wasps that's on fire and the fire is made out of racism!"
I love you Jim Sterling.
Michael Rowlands Really made me chuckle, great sentence man.
Well, in fairness, Nintendo did screw over and abandon the real creators of the series just before Starfox 2. ...Wait, is that a point in their favor?
For those wondering where No Man's Sky was: www.thejimquisition.com/the-mediocre-awards-2016/
Jim Sterling N
LOL this suit the game better.
ha ha ha It almost feels like it's worse getting on the "mediocre" game list.
I think this horse has been kicked enough.
No I think the horse should be kicked until it turns to dust, then we collect the dust into a bag and continue kicking it.
Love the piano rendition of the theme song
But Jim, How do I know these games are truly awful if this list isn't approved by the Cornflakes Homunculus?
Good point.
Please Jim, the people need to know!
Kenny no!
RIP Homunculus, devoured by Jim in 2017
Does the Cornflake Homunculus only come at Christmas if you've been nice?
He didn't show up :(
The Almighty s u c c He likes his butts like he likes his cornflakes, dry as fuck.
I heard they make a new movie. Godzilla vs Shick Hydro Bot vs Cornflake Homunculus.
Apparently Bryan Cranston is gonna have a 5 min cameo in it which will be featured in the movie's trailers.
He only comes if you've been very, very naughty.
Still in shock about how popular the Homunculus has been.
I'm not overusing its appearance (and really, coaxing it out of the Nightmare Tunnel is a lot of work), but it will be back.
Jim Sterling Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Tease us with the Cornflakes, Jim.
Tease us.

Me ...
Know the feeling.
it is, i tried to like it but it's so. fucking. bad.
and that was BEFORE i heard Jim's take-
I wouldn't say it's that bad really
It's an example of Nintendo bringing a game down because of a pretty bad control scheme. Didn't helped that it pretty much felt like another remake of Starfox 64.
LMAO. No Man's Sky is so bad it's not even worth being on this list.
Classic, Jim.
I don't believe that makes a game bad, but it is definitely inexcusable behavior.
kingplutoxiao1 It was a good reminder about what can happens when you preorder
Shirasho The video "If "No Man's Sky" was Honest with Us (Animation)" says it best.
Only the lies made that game bad. Without them, it is just another boring ass crafting game that are a dime-a-dozen on Steam.

Jim Sterling This list is always one of my favorite videos. Thanks for the laughs.
his is why we love you jim sterling you gave me the best christmas gift. SPITE and horrible shitty games. stay gold JIM FUCKING STERLING
Jackson Caudill that's not an excuse for putting a product on a storefront
Back in my days those steam 'games' would release for free on some game website, because they were projects by *future* game devs, trying to master the art. It's as if you'd go to a museum to see what Rubens was drawing when he was 4 years old.
Nicolas De Raedt
Unfortunately, these steam games are more like seeing what Hitler drew when he was 4.

Hey EA congrats on keeping off this list.
THEY ACTUALLY DIDN'T FUCK UP!? HOW IS EA, A company that fucked up for YEARS, the glowing lighthouse of hope this year?!
They released Crysis on GOG which is one of my favorite games. So yeah they've been the good guys this time around. What planet is this.

Where can we hear the full version of that beautiful born depressed piano cover?

Cool, now I just need to either find sheet music or attempt to play it by ear.
Had to stop for a moment and go listen to the song immediately... amazing cover :)
Yes, thank you Jim. The piano at the beginning was glorious!
Doesn't sounds like it'd be too hard to play by ear. I mean, I probably couldn't play it *well*, but that's a different animal entirely.

But they can..and they are..
Yep. They will fuck over anyone to further their own ends. They rely on mass apathy and their own little fanboy cliques. And don't think their disrespect ends there. Those executives from that well known AAA publisher recently found guilty of insider trading ... are appealing. Good luck with that guys.
Let it happen after "Last of Us" and "For Honor". And "Mass Effect".
Cue the expected cries of "WHAT ABOUT NO MAN'S SKY?! WASN'T THAT HORRIBLE ENOUGH?!"
Daniel Sauvé It'll probably be at the mediocre awards.
Aqua Jet I agree, but there's a pretty sizable cabal of gamers for whom NMS is the worst thing to have ever been printed or disc or made available for digital download.
Because it's the Internet, and the Internet has to be hyperbolic about everything.
Daniel Sauvé You get used to it after a while, hype makes you not think straight and hype is something the internet is not in need of.
"We look forward to the year 2017 - where I'm sure nothing terrible will happen, nothing at all..."
*HIT THE LEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!*
2017 has to be better, because I don't believe the gaming industry as a whole can afford a 2nd year straight of utter cock-ups, consumer abuse, and bold-faced lies.
and releases of half a game, with microtransactions
dude , HIVESWAP is coming in Jannuary (this month).
What are you talking about? 2016 was a great year for publishers. The gaming industry has brought in record numbers of monies for them. I believe the amount earned just from the PC platform is double what it was in 2015.
(the know has the exact numbers)
All in all it was another record year for the industry. There is no sign of those 2-year cock-ups you talk about in the money people are spending.
Yeah, by building even more hype than they ever have before, then dicking the customer with half baked products. its been miserable for the CONSUMER.
MortifiedDumplin
Yet those same consumers continue to promote such practice by buying in to those shitty scams.
If enough people talked with their wallets, this wouldnt be an issue. And no downloading the game instead of buying it is not talking with your wallet. They trace game download amounts. Im talking flat out boycott. Dont buy it, dont download it, dont look at videos about it. That is the strongest message you can give.
I love the piano version lol.
Me too! Anyone have a link?
Check the decription of the video
At the end of the episode.
My Reactions:
"Call of Duty 4"
...Wait what?
"Modern Warfare"
Wasn't that a major hit game, like years ago?"
"Remastered!"
OH!
I think Jim's point was more that the slur was already British slang for "tit" and came off as silly to him.
Words Maybe I'd say that as well, except that he seemed to add it as an afterthought for comedic effect.
It becomes difficult when it refers to a people that already exist *and* you use it as many times as you can. It's different from calling the Cylons "toasters" or the Helghast "higs."
how is it different? it's a piece of fiction.
Enthused Norseman You csn kill them, just dont call them names! bahah
2016 feels like 2006 for me.

What a distasteful joke on their part.
You played the most amount of shitty games this year? Do you even remember 2014?
2016. the shittiest year in a long time by more metrics than we want to know.
I won't deny shitty games came out but at least there were way more good games unlike 2014
Sure, but good game to bad game ratio in 2016 was atrocious. The literal stat which was said in the video is that 40% of ALL of steams games came out THIS YEAR. You count the handful of good games that came out and mix it with the THOUSANDS of trash games and you get what he's referring to.
2014 had plenty of great games if you know where to look
JKPancake 2014 didn't have an our of control steam greenlight.
"And we look forward to 2017 where nothing horrible will happen" *sarcasm intensifies* oh Jim. If only you truly knew how bad 2017 would end up being
Can we just agree that Kotick is practically the Pimp Daddy of the gaming industry? Because like a pimp, the guy doesn't care about the well-being of the consumer base, the outcome of the product, or even the state of his workers or any company that collaborates with his company. All he cares about, is lining his dirty, smelly, constantly stitched on pockets.
"running into enemy players with the insta-kill ice pick and insta-killing them instantly...with the ice pick!!" - gold...pure gold!! :)

Only xenth was missing.
Otherwise correct.
Xenth went by so fast I had to rewind to make sure it was a game on the list.
Thanks for the list, though.

I'm surprised at the lack of No Man's Sky
When it comes down to it though, NMS was just a bit dull. It takes more than "a bit dull" to roll in this company.
I think NMS is more deserving of a spot on the MEDIOCRE Awards list, if he does that again this year. What he hated were the way its fans behaved, the game itself was just dry and boring.
To be fair, the game has unfucked itself marginally, which, while still not good, has at least pushed it off the bottom 10.
At this point I think I've memorised every line of this episode. What an iconic one this is. Especially that intro, something about it is just perfect
2016 has been such a horrible year all-around.
If it weren't for Doom 4, I'd chalk this entire year up to a complete loss.
Eville Caston And DOOM is only $20 during the steam winter sale.
Meanwhile season passes for fallout 4 and dark souls 3 are more.
2016 is the worst year of gaming, as far as i can remember. 2014 was really bad. But 2016 just sat right on the cake.
How was this year dry for you, there was pretty much something for everybody.
brajuhani
BF1 is a bug-filled disappointment, and as usual DICE likes to break working parts of the game with every patch. Me and some friends have over 200 hours in BF1 so far, so we can tell you what's wrong with it.
Overwatch I just don't enjoy, too small teams, ults charge too fast, and there's too many "pro" people that ruin games.
Civ 6 < Civ 5
Doom is good, if you ignore the multiplayer part.
Dishonored 2 is good, if not played on PC (bad console port)
Inside is a decent sidescroller indie game, if you're into those.
But of course, different strokes for different folks. I respect your opinions, Jim. Even if I don't always agree with them.
Let's make this thread large enough that Jim Sterling starts to question whether he is in his "right mind."
people compaining about it just could not git gud
I enjoyed Star Fox Zero too.
''...an ambassador of shit.'' Well, damn.
Surely Umbrella Corp should be about making zombies , not fighting them
Surprised that NMS didn't make the cut
That's how you know it's been a bad year.
or that big update they had bumped it off the list perhaps
no man's sky was more disappointing not flat out bad like these games.
NMS was over-hyped. At least it actually worked, unlike half the list.
Except it didn't half the time.
When he said "Mighty #9" I though "wait where's 10?" for a second. lol.
First the sax, now the piano. At this rate, we'll we shall have a symphony version of the intro by 2020!
Max J this comment pretty much guarantees that we will see a fully orchestrated version by March 2017.
Nork is a slur for North Koreans, not Koreans in general, and it existed long before Homefront.
As of now, Homefront The Revolution is nothing more than a nightmare that is being slowly forgotten about. It should of stayed cancelled.
Kohlton Miller *have
Homefront just made me sad. I was really hyped and I even have a poster for it in my room. Then I rented it and I was sad
Pajamapants Jack I was honestly unaware that Homefront even had a fanbase to speak of.
Dayne Fishwick probably doesn't, the original was one of the first Xbox 360 games I've played so I have nostalgia for it so I was exited for the new one hoping it would improve upon the original. I hoped
Pajamapants Jack I heard that the first one was decent, which probably annoyed nostalgic fans such as yourself.
I am absolutely flabbergasted that he did not end 2016 by saying #Fuckonami
I'm thinking of that spilled drink Jim has to clean up after shooting this. What he must go through behind the scenes. Such a generous man. Giving so much.
Im supposed to be playing modern warfare remastered but jim keeps pounding my ass
Is it ThePounding27?
Who is ThePounding27?
Darko Mihajlovski I've heard that ThePounding27 can throw a shit game into the sun with his middle finger.
Darko Mihajlovski Is it the Jimquisition27?
Well fuck, that was stupid.
Oh right .. he used Nintendo footage ... welp time for the good ol deadlock dance.

Funny that Inafune went from Dead Rising and Onimusha to Mighty number 9.
What the hell happened to Onimusha anyway? I only played number 3 and it was easily one of the best games on PS2. I got to live out that fantasy we all have of being Jean Reno killing monsters with a whip and being all French everywhere. Then the series just died.
It didn't have Resident Evil or Street Fighter in the title so Capcom decided to chain it up in the basement.
But I want to hear people yell "Nobunaga" in dramatic fashion!
HIDE YOUR CHILDREN FOR I HAVE ARRIVED!"

I'm sorry but *jackobrien47's* comment made me hysterically remember those halo Nobunaga videos from 8-9 years ago.
11:53 - 12:15 HOLY FUCKING SHIT, I'M SO PROUD OF MY COUNTRY RIGHT NOW
To add to the shittiness, Slashy Souls WAS REGION LOCKED and I never got to play it in Argentina.
Sovereign
I didn’t know Brit was an insult
Hats off to Activision...
And no Id say no publisher, is worse then Activision they are scum of the earth... possibly the very reason the game industry has turned the direction it has today, catering to the casual gamer! removing story and gameplay to center graphics and multiplayer heavy titles.
EA is worse.
Don't be an adolescent douchebag who needs everybody to agree with him all the time.
cyanmanta -- Buttmad already, fuckface? Go play your cute little CoD games, asswipe.
Goddamn, the piano cover of your intro song is so... smooth and relaxing.
Thank you for explaining why these games go on the list over things that are "objectively" worse based on just game play and including the fuck ton of Steam Games that are utter dog shit, instead of just making a click bait list of major titles that everyone hates (but aren't actually that bad) like certain other Video Game Folks.
The Fantastic Paul steam produces 157 garbage fires for every 2 games that are good
is that the binding of isaac music playing in the background?
One thing I've never understood: game programming is so hard.. how are games being made by people who don't seem like they can run Photoshop?
Modern warfare remastered supply drops are now no longer just cosmetic.
The worst game of 2016 is...
Digital Homicide as in the whole company!
Watch Paint Dry: The Game!
My life is complete!
RecklessFire29 Wait you bought the season pass? But everything can be bought with the in game fight money even the characters.
Am I the only one who wanted to see Jim dance to the Backstreet Boys?
To all your complaints about Starfox Zero I say this Jim: Git Gud.
And Happy New Year, man. Keep the great content coming into 2017 and beyond.
you know, steam could probably solve a lot of the issues with flooding their storefront with literal shit if they just do what microsoft did by cordoning off all the greenlit games in something similar to the xbox live indie games system. yeah, there might be a few good games lumped in there, but that's an unfortunate side effect of keeping the rest of the shit off to the side for just those few people who want to jump into that septic tank. maybe even have some metric to track total play time over all concurrent users and let games with a high enough play count move out to the storefront proper.
Too bad steam will never do this. seems like an easy way to fix their store, but what do I know. I'm just a consumer. My only contribution if giving steam money when they provide me with good games. of course they haven't provided for the better part of a year, so...
Valve is too focused on adding microtransactions to CS:GO to give a damn about their store.
give it some time. once they realize their user-base isn't buying shit because there's too much literal shit around, they'll finally fix things. it's just going to take them a few years, I think.
Speaking of, It's going to take 90% of steam's games being releazed in a single year for them to realize there's a problem.
One good step is to improve search filters on Steam, can't believe how many times you are forced to see DLC in the list...
Please let this happen

That beginning was the BOSS.
Nice video, Jim. Didn't ever regret subscribing to you; that's for sure.
