I really like the Breitling, it merges the dive watch form with a luxury watch aesthetic, not an easy feat. The blue is stunning, and dark enough that you could get away with wearing it as an evening watch.

The SuperOcean is eye candy but I wish it didn’t have that date window. At least the 44mm version matches the dial color on the date window so it’s less distracting.

Agree on the G.O. I own that watch with the blue dial when they first came out. It's spectacular in light constantly changing color. The arrowhead hour markers also scatter light everywhere. Best adjustable clasp in the industry. It's my fav watch, although I don't tell the others that.

Great stuff Bruce. Awesome to see the 4 year old. I recently found out I’ll be having my first child soon and I’m super excited. I found a “R is for Rolex” ABC book I’ll be picking up. You started off on the right foot right away with Breitling. When I think wrist presence I think Breitling and it’s not just the size but the way their polish looks and overall case/designs. If I’m at the mall I can spot a Breitling from 100ft away.

Amazing choices all - I really love your Zenith. That said, in my heart, that Oris Hangang 한강 speaks to me... I think I mentioned that I used to live nearby the Han River (Gang, 강 is river in Korean) and used to ride my bike along the river with my friends. My wife was just telling me all her life in Korea, she lived near the Han River. She told me some stories about some bad flooding when she was young! By the way, she said I should buy that watch. I'm taking it as permission! Haha! Anyway, great choices all!!!

Great pickings. As you said, appreciation in terms of wrist presence is always a qualitative and subjective aspect. Most people hate the Cellini line without never handling one before, but man when you have the XL 4243 Danaos 38mm yellow gold track dial in your wrist, you can't help but smile. The video's highlight was your lovely daughter. Congratulations!

Regarding wrist presence, something I didn't see in the selection. Two tone, gold and steel watches. Although a matter of personal taste something about two tone watches that inherently draw the eyes of a passerby. Bluesy and Root beer would be on my list.

  • @drewtokarsky3917

Generally speaking, light/white dials have more wrist presence that belies their size. Case in point, I have a vintage 34mm OP with a white dial that has the same wrist presence as the BB58 I tried on yesterday in spite of being 5mm different in size.

I'm not one for "expensive" watches. I have a couple of affordable G-Shocks. Last year while passing a key cutting shop, my eye was drawn to a beautiful looking orange faced watch in the window. I went in to enquire and the guy told me it was a fake Seiko. I was really disappointed. Since that day I can't stop looking at nice watches ,so when Christmas came around I couldn't resist and picked up a Seiko 5 sport. I've heard it called "the gateway watch" lol. What have I done?! :) I see why your girl was upset over that Turtle.

Don't laugh, but as a Seiko fan and a diver I have a lot of dive watches including the iconic 1975 Tuna. Anyway I saw a Tuna homage, a yellow dial Steeldive SD1975 tuna with NH35A movement. Yes a Chinese one I bought from Steeldive UK, their European outlet. And as well as bring a good diver , 300m wr sapphire crystal, brilliant lume and boy does it have wrist presence! I have more expensive watches but for wrist presence nothing has beaten it for having the type of presence that people keep commenting on it and asking about it. If Seiko had a yellow Tuna I would have preferred it, but they don't and I just love this yellow watch on a yellow rubber strap. 💛 I also have that GS!

Great video Bruce. From your list I'd have to agree with the Omega that is a work of art and the in this company anyway the Oris. Unfortunately I don't have either. The Defy is one that periodically ambles on my list but so far has not made it to the top. A recent addition to my collection that I'd add to my list would be the Rado Truesquare open heart in black. Just to look at it ticking and the charge of the mainspring is a joy and to me anyway one of the most readable skeleton dial watches that I've seen. Looking forward to the next one Bruce!
