An ideal place for beekeeping. I know this place and it quickly becomes green and full of nectar flowers. I wished I was there because I am a beekeeper and I love bees and beekeepers. Thank you.
Knocking out a alcohol wash or two right outta the shed. Would give you a feeling for where you were at. Great job Ian! Thanks for sharing everything with us.
Your girls are having a good day there's that bee buzz a Ian, love that sound of bees flying.👍 At least you don't have all that snow glare to confuse them this year. Grats on getting them out and started buddy.
Going to need to carry extra windshield washer fluid for a while ! I wonder how much drifting occurs on the first few day of flight when released like this?
Thoughts... last year you hypothesized the poop on the pails acted as a vector for disease. That wet ground is going to do the same thing. All that poop lands in that water, meanwhile other bees are pulling in that water as a resource. Obviously there's only so much you can do... limited numbers of holding yards, limited time to spread things out. But it would stand to reason that improving drainage in the holding yards to keep things drier in future years would force the foraging bees to hopefully source water from "cleaner" sources.
Looking at your weather how are you not in maple flow here soon... you might need suppers sooner than later.. basically sunny and 60 little rain but sunny mostly.. they could be plugging up on nectar those maples put out nectar in the right weather.. that one year we did like 30 pounds
Funny I was thinking text book back at the bee shed .. I'm excited for you.. just add some seconds in 3 weeks take some splits got 3000 units making honey. Probably less work them all beeing strong like that.. I wouldn't even start to apologize for all that wonderful weather forecasted not after the last two spring nightmares
@@aCanadianBeekeepersBlog I watched your recent video and you have some banging hives. Congrats! Will you be focusing on any particular queen lineage or just doing random queen rearing. I recall a year or two ago, you were quite focused on genetics,, cleanliness, etc.
There's something relaxing about listening and watching to bees in flight! Thanks for another great video!
Need a rain jacket walking through those bees 😅
Oh what a relief, it is!! 😂💩

Every year I wonder how they take liquid feed when it's so cold. Isn't the liquid too cold for them? Does it ever freeze?
