    You'll have to get yourself a forklift truck next 😂 and it's not long to go now before you're run off your feet and running around like a headless chicken like the rest of us 😂😂, we always say we're ready 😂

    Sugar is definitely getting expensive. That’s about what I pay in bulk liquid delivery. Transportation surcharges kill me because it’s delivered 1000 km away

      Yea Ian, we were chatting at the delivery, 5 years ago it was 46cents per kilo, more than double in 5 years! Me thinks a middle man Is coining it😤

    13c and sunny in Surrey. My bees are already booming. Added a super of drawn comb and put a BB of foundation (didn't have enough drawn brood frames) under existing BB. Forecast is temperature increase in 7 days here.
    Plenty of uncharged queen cups in my strong colonies.

    You considered Bob binnies approach. An electric outboard motor attached to a barrel. Pour water and a sack of sugar and blend with the boat motor.

    • @richardnoel3141
      @richardnoel3141  Місяць тому +1

      yes, that way and also submersible pump or basic mixer. all those are feasible but thew sirop is ready mixed and a little cheaper than buying it in bags and mixing it yourself, so its a fine balance between mixing your own and buying is ready mixed, thats a good mix for the bees.

      @@richardnoel3141 Do you get through it all? How long does syrup last without mould having its wicked way? Dry sugar won’t spoil.

    • @richardnoel3141
      @richardnoel3141  Місяць тому

      @@sinisterhipp0 this never gets mouldy it’s too thick. It could potentially last years but the levels inside the sugar can change so this is envisaged to be all used up by two years max

    Hi Richard, first saw you with Gruff, and really enjoyed hearing bee farmers giving a no nonsense approach. Now I'm glad I've found your UA-cam channel and looking forward to many more videos this season. Mick

    It's great to get a head on the season while you can. But you mentioning about getting yourself a forklift or something similar.
    It's a mine field as you pointed out, something with low hour's and well serviced is going to cost, I'd try and avoid anything that's been in a distribution centre and the likes. They've been cained, have you thought about a gas operated one instead of electric. Might get them cheaper and no exhaust fumes.

    Richard how much is dry sugar in your area? Here we paying about 80 cents a pound which is insane.

    • @richardnoel3141
      @richardnoel3141  Місяць тому +1

      at the moment more expensive than liquid sugar. thats over a euro a kilo, without mixing and delivery. prices are crazy right now

    I keep planing on tapping Maple trees in the spring for bee food. The sap is around 2% sugar and you can get 60 gallons per season. The sap is about the same as nectar and i want to see if the bee's like it.

    Hi Noel, question, when you clean your plastic super frames, do you power wash them with hot or cold water? And secondly do you re wax them before putting them back on the hives?, thanks Ed… keep the videos coming👍👍

    • @richardnoel3141
      @richardnoel3141  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Edd, we can only pressure wash them after scraping them out but they come up pretty clean. after 80 degrees C they start to warp so it has to be cold water. No we dont have to rewax them, the bees do that pretty well thankfully.
